…cript Body clone tees keep one shared chunk in both branch queues. A branch copies the chunk when a script consumer dequeues it. Native drains and tee-to-tee reads pass the shared reference through, so a clone chain still retains one copy of the body.
…, defer the source cancel acquireReadableStreamDefaultReader takes a ReaderOwner. Native owners set the stream bit; Bun.readableStreamToArray is a Script owner. A canceled sibling no longer skips the copy: in a clone chain the chunk still sits in an upstream queue. A failed copy errors both branches and cancels the source from a microtask.

…ructure The structured clone of an object chunk runs its getters. That code can read, cancel or release the branch reader. dequeueChunkForRead skips the close bookkeeping on a stream that is no longer readable, pullSteps closes a read on a closed branch, read() rejects on a released reader, and the readMany drain re-reads the queue and the state each iteration. A typed-array copy keeps the source view's structure, so a Buffer stays a Buffer. A resizable ArrayBuffer takes the generic clone. The deferred source cancel marks the tee's cancel promise handled.
…n, shorter comments A view whose structure carries own properties is copied from the intrinsic structure with its prototype set, since a fresh cell has no out-of-line storage. The readMany drain stops on a branch that user code closed during the copy and reports the size of what it wrote. The deferred source cancel marks its result handled.

I re-reviewed the latest push (b314e90) and found no new bugs; the three inline concerns from the previous round each have a code change and a pinned test now. Because this reworks chunk delivery in the core C++ streams implementation and makes a deliberate perf trade-off (script reads on both bodies of a clone now copy each chunk), a human look would still be worthwhile.
What was reviewed:
- The view-copy path in WebStreamsMisc.cpp: a structure with out-of-line capacity or a dictionary now falls back to the intrinsic typed-array structure and sets the prototype, covering Buffer and DataView.
- The readMany drain: a branch closed by user code inside the copy now breaks out and the returned size is recomputed from the entries actually written.
- The deferred tee-abort microtask: the source cancel result itself is marked handled, so a rejecting cancel() with a pending tee read no longer surfaces as an unhandled rejection (covered by a subprocess test asserting empty stderr and exit 0).
Extended reasoning...
The PR changes how body-clone tee branches deliver chunks to script across 14 files in src/jsc/bindings/webcore/streams plus body-clone.test.ts: a lazy structured-clone copy at the three dequeue sites, a ReaderOwner enum threaded through every reader-acquire call, and a deferred source cancel on copy failure. It touches no auth, injection or data-exposure surface, but it is memory-safety-sensitive native code where the copy runs user getters and proxy traps on the stack of a read. The latest commit addresses each prior inline finding with a code change and a test, and this run's hunt ran dry with no new findings. The decision to defer rather than approve rests on the size and reentrancy complexity of the change and on the author-stated 2-3.6x slowdown for script reads of cloned bodies, which is a design trade-off a maintainer should weigh.

I re-reviewed the latest push and found no new bugs; the items raised on earlier pushes (view copies with own properties, closed branch mid-drain, readMany size, tee of a clone branch) are addressed in the code as it stands. Because this adds user-JS re-entrancy to three queue dequeue sites in the C++ streams core, a human look is still worthwhile.
What was reviewed:
- The three copy sites (
dequeueChunkForRead, drainQueueEntriesInto, the tee microtask'steeBranchChunkToEnqueue) for state re-validation afterstructuredCloneStreamChunkruns getters/proxy traps; each re-checks Readable/Closed/Errored, and the enqueue path is guarded byreadableStreamDefaultControllerCanCloseOrEnqueue. - The failed-copy path: both branches errored synchronously, source cancel deferred to
onDefaultTeeAbortMicrotask, bothcancelResultandcancelPromisemarked handled. structuredCloneStreamChunk: detached views/buffers throw DataCloneError, resizable and shared buffers route through SerializedScriptValue, and a view structure is reused only when it has no out-of-line properties and is not a dictionary.- All 12
acquireReadableStreamDefaultReadercall sites now pass an explicit owner (the signature change makes a missed site a compile error).
Extended reasoning...
The change touches 14 files in src/jsc/bindings/webcore/streams/ plus one test file, replacing the shared-chunk body-clone tee with a lazy per-script-delivery structured clone keyed on a new ReaderOwner enum and a per-tee isolation flag. It introduces calls that run arbitrary user JS (getters, Proxy traps via SerializedScriptValue) inside the default-controller dequeue, the reader readMany drain, and the tee enqueue microtask, which are hot paths with GC and re-entrancy exposure; no auth, crypto, or injection surface is involved. The decision to defer rather than approve rests on the size and re-entrancy complexity of the change in core streams code, and on three unresolved github-actions[bot] inline threads from the latest push whose contents are not visible here.

Problem
Response.clone()andRequest.clone()hand both bodies the same chunk object.a[0] = 99on the original's chunk changes the clone's chunk (99 99 true). The Fetch spec's "clone a body" isReadableStreamTee(stream, true). Node 26.5+, Chrome and Deno print99 1 false.cloneForBranch2 = falseinReadableStream__tee(WebStreamsExports.cpp:120) so an N-deep clone chain retains one copy of the body instead of N. Its parity claim ("Node, Chrome, Firefox share") was wrong for Chrome and is now wrong for Node. Its memory bar still holds.Fix

So.text(),.arrayBuffer()and a clone chain stay zero-copy.Bun.readableStreamToArrayis aScriptowner.Bufferstays aBuffer). Any other object, and a shared or resizable buffer, takes the generic structured clone: a class instance comes back a plain object, a function or a Proxy throws. ReadableStreamwith aSourceKind::TeeBranchcontroller that points at the sharedJSStreamTeeState.SourceKindcompare, so a non-tee stream pays one byte load and a branch.dequeueChunkForReadskips the close bookkeeping once the stream is not readable,read()re-checks its reader, and the readMany drain re-reads the queue and the state each iteration.cloneForBranch2 = trueflip (fork PR fix(fetch): clone chunks when cloning request bodies #45875, which this supersedes): it copies at tee time, so a 100-deep chain retains 100 copies and the chain RSS test fails by about 60x. Considered keying the copy on the read request kind: the native drain's empty-queue hop is a Promise-kind read, so.text()on a clone would copy every chunk.Downsides
reader.read(), 5 interleaved debug runs: main 420 to 570 ms, PR 570 to 1000 ms. An automated release A/B on the first push measured 2.0 to 3.6x. Residue, on purpose:
clone.body.tee()sub-branches keep isolating (each script read gets a copy), so they do not alias the other body. The two sub-branches do not share one object as a plaintee()would.clone.body.pipeThrough(nativeTransform)copies each chunk: pipeTo takes a Script reader because the destination'swrite()can be user code.enqueue()and before the read is observed mutated on both bodies.Reader-acquire sites, 12: Script at

a.clone() -> b.clone() -> c, the chunkc's tee forwarded by reference still sits ina's queue. The test "a clone chain with the leaf canceled" pins this.readMany()on a queue it can drain now is synchronous, so a failed copy there throws (the stored error).read()andnext()reject. A source whosecancel()rejects after a failed copy does not report an unhandled rejection: the tee's cancel promise is marked handled.Self-reviewed: 22 concerns raised, 20 addressed.
