Nothing blocking. The comments below are optional suggestions. There is no need to push a fix for them before merging.
This version is a narrower design than the one I reviewed earlier: there is no second program pass any more, and a file the importer's program lacks is followed but not checked (docs/runtime/check.mdx and the commit title say so). The PR description's "Fix" section still says such a file "becomes one more root of the same project", which the code at src/sema/driver/lib.rs:4160-4199 no longer does — worth updating so a human reviewer reads the right contract.
Beyond the inline finding, I also checked the reach walk in check_named_files: cycles through plugin-only modules are bounded by is_followed, the through_links importer list is built in index order so the binary_search_by_key holds, and the per-module realpath now runs only when named is Some and skips lib and declaration files.
Extended reasoning...
The change adds a plugin-import edge table from the bundler (src/bundler/bundle_v2.rs, src/bundler/options.rs) through check_command.rs into the sema Host and the reach walk of check_named_files in src/sema/driver/lib.rs, plus docs, types and a 1,072-line test file; it touches no security-sensitive surface. Since my earlier review the second-pass/allowJs design was removed, which resolves the concerns I raised there, but the PR description still describes the old behavior. One pre-existing nit survived verification and is posted inline; the sema driver change is non-trivial enough that a maintainer should still look.
… files of the program The type checker cannot read what only a plugin can read, like App.svelte, so it did not reach what App.svelte imports: main.ts imports App.svelte, which imports lib.ts, and a type error in lib.ts did not fail the build. The bundler passes each import into or out of the code that a plugin has loaded (TypeChecked::plugin_imports). The reach walk of check_named_files follows them beside the scripts of a page. A file of the program that such a file imports is reached, so it is checked. What only a plugin can read or provides is followed for what it imports. The program is not changed. A file that it does not have is not checked, as before: a file outside include or files, JavaScript where allowJs is off, and what only the bundler finds for an import. A plugin-loaded file that is an entry point still names what it imports.

Bun.build({ check: true })passes whenmain.tsimportsApp.svelte(anonLoadplugin) andApp.svelteimportslib.tswith a type error. How it was found. By probing, not from a user report. The review of #44361 handled the entry-position case ("an entry that cannot be checked by name must still have its JS/TS imports named for the check"). This is the position that the Svelte plugin README documents:
entrypoints: ["src/index.ts"].The rule. The reach walk follows what the bundler has bundled for the imports of a plugin-loaded file.
App.svelte), or only a plugin provides it (App.vue?type=script): it is not checked. What it imports is followed.A.svelte -> a.js -> B.svelte -> b.ts.node_modules: it is not followed.Still not checked (as on main).
tsconfig.jsondoes not include it, there is notsconfig.json, it is JavaScript andallowJsis off, or only the bundler resolves the import to it (for exampledist/index.jswhere TypeScript takesdist/index.d.ts).svelte-checkandvue-tsccheck it.main.ts -> widget.js -> App.svelte -> lib.tswhere the type checker does not readwidget.jsand no plugin loads it.defineremoves.require()in TypeScript (documented as not covered), thebrowsermap,.tsxbeside.ts, main fields, per-packagepaths, anonResolveredirect between ordinary files. This PR is about the one kind that has no remedy in TypeScript.bun --check,bun test --check, the dev server): they have no bundle. The page rule scans the file itself, so it works there. A scan of the script of a component could do the same (bun lint, bun check: native support for framework components (Vue, Svelte, Astro), asbun fmthas #45163).Two rules by entry position. A plugin-loaded file that is an entry point still names what it imports (main's rule from #44361). A named file is checked by its nearest
tsconfig.json, and a named.jsfile turnsallowJson. So one graph can give two results: withmain.tsandApp.svelteboth as entry points, the imports ofApp.svelteare named. The test "a plugin-loaded file that is an entry point names what it imports" pins this. Not in this PR: a file that the program lacks. The first revision checked such a file in one more program of the same project. The reviews found clean builds that this turned red, so the rule is out of this PR:
allowJson for it (TS2578 for a// @ts-expect-errorabove an import of a.jsfile).dist, that is JavaScript that TypeScript never reads for the import (TS7006 withallowJsandcheckJs).references, the extra program built the referenced projects again: 4 programs and 104 checked files where main has 2 and 51.A follow-up can add the files as roots before the first program loads. The last self-review raised 33 concerns about the revision before this one. Most were about the extra program for a file that the program lacks. That rule is removed (see above). The others are done here: the bundler passes an import into a plugin-loaded module only if the plugin returned code, a file of the
filesoption that a plugin loads is a file of the project, the lookup through links takes source files only and is a binary search, the docs link points at theBun.buildsection, and the tests pin the clean builds.Questions for the maintainer.
