Beyond the inline finding, I also checked the codegen consumers of the moved files: src/codegen/bake-codegen.ts and scripts/glob-sources.ts both read dev_server/protocol.rs, and the "FrameworkRouter.rs" key in src/codegen/generate-js2native.ts is still the lookup identifier used by src/js/internal-for-testing.ts, now mapped to runtime/bake/router/js.rs — so those consumers are consistent.
Extended reasoning...
This PR is an ~11.5k-line move/refactor of src/runtime/bake/ into per-concept module trees plus path updates in codegen scripts, the mordant baseline and the source-lint inventory; it touches no auth, crypto or input-parsing surface. One confirmed finding (an unused use super::*; in dev_server/protocol.rs under a deny-warnings workspace) is posted inline; the remaining checked item was the codegen key/path chain, which resolves correctly.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Beyond the inline findings, I also checked that every consumer keyed by the old file names was moved with the code: bake-codegen.ts/glob-sources.ts now read dev_server/protocol.rs, which is where MessageId/IncomingMessageId live; generate-js2native.ts maps FrameworkRouter.rs to router/js.rs; the mordant-baseline.toml keys and the vm-thread-door inventory entry (unsafe impl Sync for DotenvSingleton, now production/mod.rs:80) point at the files that hold those items.
One leftover from the move: three comments still name the deleted files — src/runtime/bake/dev_server/lifecycle.rs:178 (bake_body.rs, now config/transpiler.rs), src/runtime/bake/bun-framework-react/index.ts:4 (bake_body.rs, now config/defaults.rs), and src/jsc/event_loop.rs:1237 (production.rs, now production/).
Extended reasoning...
The PR is a ~11.5k-line pure-move restructuring of src/runtime/bake into router/, config/, production/ and per-concept dev_server/ files, plus path updates in codegen scripts, the mordant lint baseline and the vm-thread-door inventory; it touches no security-sensitive surface. The hunt ended on max_bugs rather than running dry and two inline findings are posted, so approval is not on the table; this note only records the consumer-path checks that were ruled out and three stale file-name comments the move left behind.

🟡 nit (optional): stale cross-references to the deleted files and the old two-struct layout remain after the move. sweep:bake_body\.rs|DevServer\.rs finalize_bundle|two keystone|bake\n?\s*production.rs|re-exports from memory_cost module already declared at top. route_bundle.rs:77-79 now says "the two keystone DevServer structs (dev_server::DevServer) both expose that field but cannot be named here without a cycle", which no longer describes anything. Fix: reword or drop each note so it names the new file (e.g. config/defaults.rs for pub fn react, dev_server/finalize.rs, bake/production/mod.rs) or delete it where the justification is gone. [also at: src/runtime/bake/bun-framework-react/index.ts:4 - nit: contributors following this comment are sent to a file this PR deletes; the sweep in the last commit missed two stale references to the old file names. sweep:bake_body\.rs|DevServer\.rs (excluding convertStmtsForChunkForDevServer).; src/runtime/bake/mod.rs:22 - nit: maintainers still get comments that point at the old Bake layout after the final comment sweep. mod.rs:22 says bake::jsc is the re-export of bun_jsc, but the crate::jsc::* line was removed and only Plugin remains.; +2 more]
Why this was flagged
The PR deletes DevServer.rs, bake_body.rs, FrameworkRouter.rs and production.rs and merges the two DevServer struct halves into one, but several comments still describe the old layout. src/runtime/bake/dev_server/route_bundle.rs:76-79 now reads "the two keystone DevServer structs (dev_server::DevServer) both expose that field but cannot be named here without a cycle" — there is one struct and the cycle justification is gone. src/runtime/bake/dev_server/lifecycle.rs:735 carries "// re-exports from memory_cost module already declared at top" copied from DevServer.rs where nothing of the kind sits above it. src/runtime/bake/bun-framework-react/index.ts:4 tells contributors to "update 'pub fn react' in 'bake_body.rs'", which now lives at src/runtime/bake/config/defaults.rs:17. A maintainer following these notes lands on files that no longer exist; on the base branch every one of them resolved. No behavior change; nit only.
Verification: Stale comments left behind by the move. src/runtime/bake/dev_server/route_bundle.rs:76-79 still reads "the two keystone DevServer structs ... both expose that field" — there is now exactly one definition (src/runtime/bake/dev_server/mod.rs:463). src/runtime/bake/dev_server/lifecycle.rs:735 // re-exports from memory_cost module already declared at top now points at nothing. Purely comment accuracy; nothing observable breaks.
| pub(crate) fn wrap<T: InsertionHandler>(ctx: &mut T) -> &mut dyn InsertionHandler { | ||
| ctx | ||
| } | ||

There was a problem hiding this comment.
🟡 nit (optional): the InsertionContext::wrap shim the PR description says was removed is still here, with a comment that only justifies its own existence. router/mod.rs:794-803 keeps an empty enum and a two-line wrap whose body is a plain &mut T to &mut dyn InsertionHandler coercion, used at production/mod.rs:582 and dev_server/lifecycle.rs:815. Fix: either delete the shim and pass &mut *self_ptr / &mut entry_points directly at both call sites (the coercion is implicit), or drop the claim from the description; a comment reading "kept so callsites read ..." is the kind of self-justifying note the repo guidance asks to replace with a code change.
Why this was flagged
The PR description lists the InsertionContext::wrap shim among the removed aliases. In the merged tree src/runtime/bake/router/mod.rs:794-803 still defines pub(crate) enum InsertionContext {} with fn wrap<T: InsertionHandler>(ctx: &mut T) -> &mut dyn InsertionHandler { ctx }, and it is called from src/runtime/bake/production/mod.rs:582 and src/runtime/bake/dev_server/lifecycle.rs:815. On the base branch the same shim lived in bake/mod.rs inside the framework_router glue module whose only purpose was joining the split files; that glue module is gone but the shim moved into router/mod.rs instead of being deleted. No runtime effect; a maintainer reading the description expects it gone and the comment on it now describes nothing but itself.
Verification: src/runtime/bake/router/mod.rs:794-803 defines InsertionContext::wrap, whose body is the implicit unsizing coercion. It is used at src/runtime/bake/production/mod.rs:582 and src/runtime/bake/dev_server/lifecycle.rs:815; both could pass the &mut T directly. On the base the shim lived in the framework_router glue module; this PR deletes that module but carries the shim into router/mod.rs.
This PR fixes three bugs in the Bake config and router. Review bots found them on #45489. They were in the code before that PR. The bugs 1. A rejected `app` config leaked the bundler plugin. `Framework::from_js` creates the plugin when the framework has `plugins`. If a later step failed (for example `root: 123`), `UserOptions::from_js` returned the error, and nothing unprotected the plugin's JS object. Only the `Drop` of `UserOptions` freed it, and that value was never built. 2. `fileSystemRouterTypes[].ignoreDirs` was ignored. The parser walked the outer `fileSystemRouterTypes` array instead of the `ignoreDirs` array. When a framework set `ignoreDirs`, the router got one `"[object Object]"` entry per router type in its place, so it scanned every directory, including `.git` and `node_modules`. 3. A route with more than 64 params crashed the dev server. The router wrote the error message but set no cursor, so `TinyLog::print` sliced the path from index `u32::MAX`. The fixes 1. `SplitBundlerOptions::destroy_plugin` frees the plugin. The `Drop` of `UserOptions` calls it, and `UserOptions::from_js` also calls it when parsing fails after the plugin exists. 2. The parser reads `ignoreDirs` from its own array. The error message no longer says that `"*"` is allowed, because it is not. 3. The error highlights the full route path. Tests `test/bake/app-options.test.ts` has one test for each bug. All three fail on Bun 1.4.3: - the plugin test counts 10 leaked `BundlerPlugin` objects instead of 0; - the `ignoreDirs` test reports the invalid route in the ignored directory; - the 64-params test crashes with `range start index 4294967295 out of range for slice of length 389`. On a local debug build, `app-options`, `framework-router`, `dev/bundle` and `dev/html` pass.
…event main moved WatcherAtomics from dev_server/mod.rs to dev_server/watcher_atomics.rs (#45489). The change of this branch is applied there without any other change.
This PR moves the Bake code into folders by job. It changes no behavior. It is the first step before a redesign of the Bake API, so that the code is easier to read first.
