A socket given to http.Server with server.emit("connection"), and the
HTTP/1.1 side of http2.createSecureServer({ allowHTTP1: true }), end the
connection after a response that must close it. Main has this behaviour
and had no test for most of its cases on this path.
The table has 12 cases over a duplexPair: HTTP/1.0 requests, a request
with Connection: close, a handler that sets Connection: close or clears
shouldKeepAlive, a 204 with Transfer-Encoding, a peer FIN under
httpAllowHalfOpen, and a kept-alive connection as the control. Node
v26.3.0 gives the same outcome for each case.
The tests come from #37767. No source file changes.

The table splits what the client received into responses by their framing, and compares the body and every Connection header of each response. Before, it counted status lines and read the first Connection header. Both tests reject on 'close'. A connection that closes with no 'end' then fails the test at once.

Nothing blocking. The comments below are optional suggestions. There is no need to push a fix for them before merging.
The follow-up commit wires close to reject and asserts the exact Connection header list in both files, which covers what I raised on the previous push. Beyond the inline nit, I also checked the close-delimited branch of splitResponses (no Content-Length, no next response): it can report a head-only first chunk as complete before the body arrives, but that only schedules the setImmediate, which is a no-op once end has fired, and the returned outcome is re-parsed from the full wire after end, so the assertions still see the whole body.
Extended reasoning...
Test-only change: a 12-case it.each table in test/js/node/http/node-http.test.ts driving node:http's connectionListener over an in-process duplexPair, plus one allowHTTP1 fallback test in test/js/node/http2/node-http2.test.js; no production code and no security-sensitive surface. Since the prior review, commit 160d3ab added 'close'->reject wiring and exact Connection-header assertions at both sites. One nit finding remains posted inline and a further verified finding is unposted, so this is not an approval; the note records the additional framing check that was examined and ruled out.
…1-fallback-close-tests
The table records whether the server side of the pair is destroyed when the client sees 'end'. A server that calls destroy() in place of end() gives the client the same bytes and the same 'end' on a duplexPair, so the table passed for it before. The helper now looks at the connection one turn after each complete response, also after the second one.

I re-reviewed after the latest push and found no bugs; the new destroyed probe addresses the destroy-vs-end gap I raised earlier. Since two inline threads from another reviewer are still open, a human look before merge would still be worthwhile.
What was reviewed:
- The
destroyedread at the client'sendlistener: checked againstsrc/js/internal/streams/duplexpair.ts—_finalregisters its ownendcallback after the test's listener, soserverSide.destroyedis read before autoDestroy, and adestroy()regression sets it synchronously before the nextTickpush(null). - The
setImmediateprobe: the fallback ends the socket from the responsefinishhandler (http1_server_fallback.ts:509-521), a nextTick chain with no I/O or timers, soendsettles before the immediate. - The http2 test now rejects on
closeand asserts the exact header list rather thantoContain.
Extended reasoning...
Test-only change (+244 lines) adding a 12-case it.each table to test/js/node/http/node-http.test.ts and one allowHTTP1 test to test/js/node/http2/node-http2.test.js; no production code and no security-sensitive surface. The latest commit (eb4479b) resolves the nit from my prior review by recording serverSide.destroyed in the Outcome, and I verified the ordering against duplexpair.ts and the fallback's finish handler. Not approving because two coderabbitai inline threads at node-http.test.ts:6370 and :6409 remain unresolved, and the 6370 one is in splitResponses, which the last commit did not change.
The table split the wire by Content-Length and dropped bytes that did not form a head, so a stray byte behind a 204 response passed. It now splits at each status line: a body is all that follows its head. Content-Length only tells when the last response is complete.

LGTM — the latest commits address the earlier feedback and the tests are self-contained and test-only.
What was reviewed:
- The
serve()helper's settle paths:error/closereject,endresolves, and the fallback's close path (src/js/internal/http1_server_fallback.ts:485-521) ends the socket via nextTick-drivenfinish/end, so thesetImmediateprobe runs after a graceful close has already settled the promise. destroyedis now read fromserverSide.destroyedatendtime and the http2 test asserts the exactConnectionheader list plus rejects onclose, which covers the destroy-vs-end and header-duplication cases raised previously.splitResponsesframing: 204/chunked and close-delimited HTTP/1.0 bodies count as complete once the head ends, and the final outcome re-parses the full wire so late body bytes are included.
Extended reasoning...
The diff adds only tests: a 12-case it.each table in test/js/node/http/node-http.test.ts driving an http.Server over an in-process duplexPair, and one allowHTTP1 TLS test in test/js/node/http2/node-http2.test.js using port 0; no source files change and no CODEOWNERS entry covers these paths. It touches no security-sensitive surface. The three concerns I raised on earlier pushes (no close rejection in the http2 test, toContain on the Connection header, and end-vs-destroy being indistinguishable) are each addressed in the current code, and the coderabbit thread at :6410 was followed by a commit that reworked exactly that region. The remaining timing assumption (setImmediate after nextTick-driven close) matches how the fallback actually ends the socket, and the bug hunt ran dry, so a human look is not required.
