…lish `a`, and a class field makes the call The parentheses in `(a?.b)()` end the optional chain, so the call is not part of it. JavaScriptCore put the call back inside the chain: a nullish `a` skipped the call and its arguments and gave undefined, where the spec and node throw a TypeError. In a class field initializer, `x = (a?.b)()` with a present `a` stored the function and never called it. TypeScript `(a?.b as F)()` and `(a?.b)!()` print as this shape. oven-sh/WebKit#650 ends the chain at the callee. This pins its preview build. WEBKIT_VERSION must move to the merged sha before this lands. The JSTests file of the WebKit PR runs as a jsc-stress fixture, and runtime-transpiler.test.ts covers the TypeScript spellings through the transpiler. preload.js gets drainMicrotasks for the fixture.

The fixture is one file with no imports, so it does not need a temp directory. bun -e still runs the TypeScript loader.

The WebKit branch now sits on cf1b36ec, the commit this repo pinned before. The preview differs from that pin by the one commit of oven-sh/WebKit#650 and no longer carries oven-sh/WebKit#634 and oven-sh/WebKit#636.

(a?.b)()with a nullishareturnsundefined. The spec and node run the arguments, then throw a TypeError.g = (o?.f)()with a presentostores[Function: f]and never calls it. TypeScript(o?.f as F)()and(o?.f)!()print as this shape.ASTBuilder::makeFunctionCallNode(parser/ASTBuilder.h) puts the call back inside theOptionalChainNodeofa?.b. Repro (bun 1.4.3 canary, WebKit

So the previewautobuild-preview-pr-650-85a710c2differs from the old pin by the one commit of [JSC](a?.b)(): a nullishathrows a TypeError, and a class field initializer makes the call WebKit#650.preload.jsgetsdrainMicrotasks, the way thejscshell settles promises. Bump WebKit (oven-sh/WebKit#534 preview): call the tag of (a?.b)...with this = a #40848 adds the same three lines.(o?.a) is not a function. (In '(o?.a)()', '(o?.a)' is undefined), the message of any other call ofundefined.jsc-stress.test.ts,test/js/bun/jsc/bun-jsc.test.ts,test/js/bun/jsc/webkit-upgrade-6b879687ee.test.tsandtest/js/node/vm/vm.test.ts.deletenote below. All three are in [JSC](a?.b)(): a nullishathrows a TypeError, and a class field initializer makes the call WebKit#650 and here. It also asked for a bugs.webkit.org report with an upstream patch. That is still to do, and [JSC](a?.b)(): a nullishathrows a TypeError, and a class field initializer makes the call WebKit#650 says so. It proposed to fold this bump into Bump WebKit (oven-sh/WebKit#534 preview): call the tag of (a?.b)...with this = a #40848. I did not: each WebKit PR has its own preview bump PR in this repo, and the two WebKit changes touch different functions.class G { y = delete o?.g }givesythe value ofo?.gand deletes nothing.makeDeleteNodereturns the innerOptionalChainNode, which starts after thedeletekeyword, and the second parse of the field initializer starts at the position of that node.[policy-decision:webkit] gate passed · iteration 0 · 5 files touched
