`import styles from "./x.module.css"` under `bun ./index.html` compiled
to a module body that read `import_x_module.default.foo` while the
import itself was dropped, so the page threw `ReferenceError:
import_x_module is not defined`. The dev pipeline put every file with
a stylesheet into the CSS chunk only, and `convert_stmts_for_chunk_for_dev_server`
disabled every import record that pointed at a CSS file.
A client `.module.css` now also goes into the JS chunk. Its lazy-export
stub is filled with the class-name map (the same code the full link
uses) and prints as `"x.module.css"(hmr) { hmr.cjs.exports = {...} }`.
The importer keeps the record, with the source index cleared so that
`import`, `import()` and `require()` all link through the registry.
The incremental graph stores the module next to the stylesheet hash
(`Content::CssModule`), serves it in route bundles, leaves it out of a
hot update when it did not change (style-only edits stay CSS-only),
and reports it as `CacheKind::CssModule` so that a re-bundled importer
keeps the dependency while the CSS file is cached.
The HMR runtime drops the cached ESM view of a CommonJS module when it
re-evaluates it, so importers see the new class map.

…was only an @import child A stylesheet that entered the client graph through `@import` or `composes` is a `CssChild`: it has no asset and no module of its own. When a JS file later imported it while it was not stale, `is_file_cached` reported it as a cached stylesheet, so the import was dropped (for a `.module.css`: the class-name map binding stayed undefined) and the route trace reached a `CssChild` through a JS edge ("only CSS roots should be found by tracing"). Report such a file as not cached so it is bundled as a root.

I reviewed this again after the two follow-up commits and didn't find any bugs. The CssChild cache-kind edge case I flagged earlier is now handled (cache_kind() returns None so is_file_cached falls through and the file is re-bundled) and covered by the new "css module that was only composed from gets imported directly" test. Given the scope — a new Content variant threaded through the incremental graph plus two-pass receive_chunk merging and changes across the bake-dev link pipeline — a human look is still worthwhile.
What was reviewed:
cache_kind() -> Optionand its consumer inis_file_cached—Nonecorrectly skips the cached-import short-circuit at bundle_v2.rs:6743 and lets the file be parsed.- The comment-trimming commit is mechanical; no logic moved.
Content::CssModulehandling inreceive_chunk/traceDependencies— the JS-pass/CSS-pass merge preserves whichever half already exists and the byte-equal suppression only skips the hot update, not the content store.

Overview
This PR makes import styles from "./x.module.css" work under the Bake dev server by shipping a CSS module's class-name map as an HMR registry module alongside its stylesheet. It touches the bundler's bake-dev pipeline (bundle_v2.rs, LinkerContext.rs, convertStmtsForChunkForDevServer.rs, generateCodeForLazyExport.rs), adds is_css_module_path/is_client_css_module helpers in options.rs, introduces CacheKind::CssModule and Content::CssModule { css, code } in the dev-server incremental graph, and drops the cached ESM view of a re-evaluated CJS module in hmr-module.ts. Six new tests span css.test.ts, react-spa.test.ts, and bundler_loader.test.ts.
Since my prior review, two commits landed: 33c8ea8 changes File::cache_kind() to return Option<CacheKind> with None for Content::CssChild (so a .module.css that entered the graph only via composes/@ import is re-bundled when a JS file later imports it directly — the exact scenario I raised), wires is_file_cached to propagate that None, and adds a dedicated test; d53ee8d trims multi-line comments to one-liners per the repo's comment convention.
Security risks
None identified. The change is confined to the bundler's dev-server output format and the in-process incremental graph; no new parsing of untrusted external input, no auth/crypto/permission surfaces, no network or filesystem trust-boundary changes.
Level of scrutiny
High. This threads a new discriminant (CssModule) through several match sites across the bundler and incremental graph, changes how receive_chunk merges two passes for one file, and alters which import records stay live in the dev format. REVIEW.md's "one source of truth — new enum variant → audit every switch" and "reference counts / ownership on every terminal path" both apply here (the Content::CssModule.code box, the two-pass merge, and the cache_kind consumers). The follow-up fix to cache_kind() is exactly the shape suggested and is now test-covered, but the overall surface (incremental-graph edge attachment, hot-update suppression, HMR runtime cache invalidation) is intricate enough that a maintainer familiar with Bake should sign off.
Other factors
Test coverage is good: the new tests exercise static import, require, dynamic import(), style-only edits (no re-eval of importers), class-map-changing edits, and the composed-then-directly-imported path. The PR description states these fail on 1.4.3 and that the surrounding test/bake/dev suites still pass. There are no outstanding human CHANGES_REQUESTED reviews; the github-actions inline comments appear to have been addressed by the comment-trimming commit.

…, and a plain css import next to them Three more dev server cases from #33405: two importers of one `.module.css` receive the same object, a `.module.css` that becomes empty drops both its rules and its class map and recovers when a class comes back, and a plain `.css` import stays a side-effect import whose edits do not re-evaluate the importer. Co-authored-by: bgrcs <bruno@grcs.pm>
`import sheet from "./plain.css"` (or `import * as ns`) left `sheet`
undeclared under the dev server, while `bun build` yields an empty module
(`{}` / `{ default: {} }`). The same held for any other import record the
dev linker disables, such as a path the `browser` field maps to false.
Declare the namespace as `{ default: {} }` in that case, next to the
existing `{}` placeholder for deferred barrel imports.

mainand narrowed: thereplaceModulesordering change from that PR is not included. In addition it handles the cached-importer path (is_file_cached/CacheKind::CssModule, without which the binding broke again after the first edit of the importer) and theimport()/require()forms (the record's source index is cleared so the printer emitshmr.dynamicImport/hmr.require).populate_css_module_lazy_exportis split out ofgenerate_code_for_lazy_exportso the dev pipeline, which skips that step and prints theSLazyExportdirectly, can fill the map with the same code the full link uses.CssChild(through@importorcomposes) and was then imported from JS while not stale was treated as a cached stylesheet: the import was dropped and the route trace reached aCssChildthrough a JS edge (only CSS roots should be found by tracingin debug builds). Only the static import forms get the empty-module binding here..module.cssfrom a syntax error sends its module once more (the graph drops content on failure), so an importer that does not accept hot updates reloads the page at that point.
