Modern versions of mac os support pf, with ipfw to be fased out by (probably) the next version of the os.

Sorry for the messy structure of the topic; the comment of @jrossi was actually on #201 but I still do not fully understand how this system works.

Looks good to me. I haven't tested it, but I don't see any changes that should affect already working platforms. I can't see a reason for this not to be backported to 2.8.
