Select Topic AreaProduct Feedback BodyIt looks like the Copilot status bar icon was removed in version 1.271.0 of the extension, in favor of something in the title bar. However, I use the VS Code native title bar (in order to have access to the draggable proxy icon on macOS for the current file), and can't see anything in the title bar. Now I have no way to see the information that the status bar icon previously provided, and can only open Chat via keyboard shortcuts. Is it possible to bring this status bar icon back via some setting? For now I have just rolled back the extension to 1.270.0. |

It seems like in version 1.271.0 of the Copilot extension, the status bar icon was indeed moved to the title bar, which could cause issues for users like you who prefer the native VS Code title bar. Unfortunately, there is no setting in the extension that allows you to revert to the status bar icon as it was in the previous version. However, rolling back to version 1.270.0 is a good workaround if the new setup isn't suitable for your workflow. You can also try contacting the extension's maintainers through the extension's repository on GitHub to request an option to enable the status bar icon again in future releases. In the meantime, using keyboard shortcuts to access Copilot and keeping an eye out for any updates from the extension team might be your best bet. |

The maintainer for the extension is GitHub I believe - “report an issue”
for this extension goes to this forum, hence my post here. If there’s a
more appropriate place to send this feedback, please let me know.

Even though I have the VSCode style title bar, this is quite annoying as it was a nice way to a. quickly toggle copilot if you don't need it right now, and b. see the status of copilot (thinking/disabled/idle/broken) |

I'll toggle copilot on/off dozens of times during the day because sometimes the completions just get in the way and are distracting! Previously the icon in the status bar would show me if copilot was on or off, now it does not... this is really annoying because I don't know if co-pilot is enabled or not. Can you fix the status bar icon so that it again indicates whether or not Co-pilot is disabled? edit: Oh, ignore.... I just realized I can pin the "language completions" to the status bar.... this works for me! |

The decision to remove the icon is a blunder. I see no rationale for doing so and was frustrated to laugh. I personally never used the command center because it uses more screen space, reducing the available lines for the editor view. Though we can still pin the language completions to the status bar, it took much larger space, and the spinning status is gone. We can no longer see if Copilot is trying to generate completions, which is quite important for developers to determine whether to keep waiting or look for alternatives. Really hope the old icon can be brought back. |

I prefered the compact icon-only style in the status bar over the icon + "completions" style we have now. |

Hi all, in version 1.271.0 the Copilot status bar icon was migrated into the language status menu:
The language status item can be pinned to status bar by clicking the pin icon button in the language status menu (opened by clicking the
{}
button next to the current language.)
