Generated files should not be manually edited. The changes must be made in the proper places and propogated to zz_generated via make update. Furthermore, simply adding test-build-simples2i to zz_generated without the rest of #26149 will accomplish nothing. This would essentially need to become a full-fledged cherry-pick or backport of that PR, and then the question becomes whether that's within the scope of a stable release.
