Release new version

[ataulm]

This is all the new stuff since the last release (0.7.0). Need to know:

• whether we should do a release now or waiting for something
• what to add to the changelog -> any new features/bugfixes
• what to add to the changelog -> any new, deprecated or broken APIs?
• what the next version should be -> 1.0, 0.8, 0.7.1?
