@a-mr Is there any confirmation from @Araq anywhere regarding the switch from RST-style links to Markdown links?

No, not yet. We need to decide what to do with "automatic" (without explicit target) RST links. I created a formal suggestion here:
#20127. Waiting on @Araq to approve it.
