As hypocritical as it might seem, I believe we should at least try to comply to PEP8. Using a linter is probably the best way to go about doing this.

At this point, I'd probably want to divert people's eyes towards ninjabot's style guide, which takes inspiration from PEP 8.

Obviously, we've already standardised on 4 spaces, but the rest of that style guide is fairly applicable.
