MongoDBUser supported with mongodbcommunity.mongodb.com/v1 ?

I would post this in a "Discussion" but that seems to be disabled on this git repo.

I just migrated to MCK from the standalone community operator.

Now, I would like to use the MongoDBUser CRD but it looks like perhaps I can't do that with mongodbcommunity.mongodb.com mongodb instances?

Do I have to recreate the mongo instances and use API Version: mongodb.com/v1 in order to be able to leverage the MongoDBUser CRD?

Hey @sepulworld,

There was no functional change regarding users in MongoDBCommunity. User configuration is still embedded in the MongoDBCommunity CRD and you cannot use the external MongoDBUser resource.

Good to know! I was looking for any documentation around moving from the MongoDBCommunity to a new CRD API that would support the configuration of users outside of the DB spec. There is an open source option, right?

To use MongoDBUser you need to use MongoDB CRD (instead of MongoDBCommunity). But this will require you to setup OpsManager. More information about the architecture can be found here -> https://www.mongodb.com/docs/kubernetes/current/tutorial/plan-k8s-op-architecture/

That's not open source though, as OpsManager isn't free to use, even with MongoDB Community.
