How to download the embedded images from Reddit comments?

As I wrote in the title, I've been trying to get gallery-dl to download the images from Reddit comments, but it only works for the submission itself and ignores the images in the comments. Am I missing something or is this not supported? I was assuming "comments" and "morecomments" would allow this so I've edited my config file and also added my custom API as recently suggested for Reddit but it didn't help.

gallery-dl only supports downloading from (external) URLs for Reddit comments. If these URLs are unsupported, they get silently ignored (unless you use --write-unsupported).

Is there a way to include images in comments other than linking them?
Could you post an example of what you want to download?

They're embedded, seems to be a New Reddit feature. They simply appear as <image> in Old Reddit and require manual intervention to see the image and they automatically get loaded in New Reddit, here's an example with images and a link.

Thank you for the example post.

I made an attempt (095e5de), and it does download the embedded image in your example, but it probably crashes for anything unexpected and/or causes some weird behavior.
