Ext not selecting env from project view only managers view

When I try to set an environment for a workspace under the Python Projects view nothing happens. I am only able to update from the environment managers list.

select.workspace.env.mp4

I also noticed that the status bar is not aligning with what is in the environment manager view, and the select interpreter drop down was not detecting the venv that was created (might be a separate issue or resolved when it is hooked in with the Python extension fully).
