Primary updates here are new releases of directxmesh, directxtex, and uvatlas that support linux.

Also need update for directx-headers to successfully build these.

New releases of directxtk, directxtk12 to match, although these libraries don't yet have formal linux support

Hot-fix for directxmath to support arm64 GCC

Can you provide any insight into why DirectXTex x64-linux failed here? It works for me locally.

It was a case-sensitivity issue that of course only happens in Linux with the directxtex[openexr] feature.

Fixed upstream in this commit.

OK, I fixed the directxtex[openexr] problem for x64-linux. Unfortunately, with the way this was implemented in PR 13969, fixing this breaks all existing directxtex port users with the openexr feature.

That said, I'm still getting a failure here in the CI tests that I can't reproduce locally. Can someone tell me what the logs are saying?

Found a build break in directxmath with the half-precision intrinsics with GCC for arm64-linux. Easy fix made upstream.

With this in place, directxtex[core, openexr], directxmesh, and uvatlas all build/install for arm64-linux as well as x64-linux (at least locally--still don't know why CIs fail for x64-linux.)

@JackBoosY That's a problem. I use C++17 filesystem in the implementation of many of my Linux code paths. I have this set in my CMakeLists.txt:

set(CMAKE_CXX_STANDARD 17)
set(CMAKE_CXX_STANDARD_REQUIRED ON)
set(CMAKE_CXX_EXTENSIONS OFF)

I'm using Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS which includes GCC 9.3 and have verified everything against both the x64 and arm64 images under WSL.

-MD, -MT and other Windows compiler flags shouldn't be added into the compiler command.
And it should be experimental/filesystem instead of filesystem when using gcc.

Which version of GCC are you using for the CIs (gcc --version)?

The filesystem header was only experimental before C++17. With GCC 9.3 <filesystem> works as expected in C++17 (-std=c++17) mode. Given that your build is using /std=c++1z it looks to me like a pre-C++17 conformant compiler. Perhaps it's time to upgrade the x64-linux images for the CI?

This is what I get looking at the build logs on my local machine that works:

Please escalate that we need a way to mark in a CONTROL file that we require C++17 support if having to supporting GCC 7.5 is still a requirement for vcpkg.

GCC 9 is the first release that indicates the libstdc++ support for C++17 features is actually complete (i.e. not experimental).

vcpkg currently uses Ubuntu 18.04 LTS because that's what you get when you ask Azure to make an Ubuntu VM by default, and std::filesystem was still experimental on that release.

We can accept ports that need more recent compilers but we can't validate them in our infrastructure so they must be skipped in ci.baseline.txt.

OK, I do pretty routine updates to these libraries.

I can in a future release include a test in my upstream cmake for directxtex, directxmesh, and uvatlas for clearer messaging, although I document the GCC 9 requirement already on my wiki pages. GCC 8 probably works, but I haven't verified that. It looks like I can do a GCC version check, a try_compile, or perhaps a target_compiler_features.

Turns out there's no release of GCC 9 before 9.1, so there's no need to be specific of minor version.

GCC 8 does have std::filesystem, but it doesn't link without an extra link library added. It was merged into the main library for GCC 9.

Therefore, my message will be:

if (VCPKG_HOST_IS_LINUX)
    message(WARNING "Build ${PORT} requires GCC version 9 or later")
endif()
