Steps to reproduce

• open Windows Terminal
• ssh <user>@<host>
• echo -e "\033[?1049h\033[c" # enable "alternate screen buffer", then query device attributes

Expected Behavior

See device attribute response (probably emitted from here) exactly once

Actual Behavior

With >60% chance, the sequence will be seen twice or more

This issue is often triggered with tmux. This comment collected some more instances reported with Windows Terminal + tmux. This discussion shows how the minimal reproducing steps were found out, in case anyone is interested.

This fix might be related. The commit has a tag v1.22.12111.0, which may suggest the fix is already included in the current Windows Terminal version used above ?

Same symptom.
