Looks like Windows Defender activating spuriously:

Could it be that the file is consistently suspicious to Windows Defender, but normally the test runner executes the test before Windows Defender is able to react, and then sudden VM de-prioritizing broke the usual order of things?

I think I've seen locally on my own script Windows Defender being overly angry, but still way too slow to break anything.

Our VMs aren't using Dev Drives, so my understanding is that Defender scanning is synchronous, thus there should be no timing issues.
