Cant run `poetry install` anymore

Usually I am able to resolve these issues by myself, but this one I cant see immediately whats up:

When running the following (Poetry (version 2.1.3))

poetry install 

I get this conflict:

Because poetry-project-instance depends on babelon (0.3.1) @ file:///Users/matentzn/ws/babelon which depends on oaklib (>=0.6.0), oaklib is required.
So, because poetry-project-instance depends on oaklib (0.5.32), version solving failed.

But neither OAK nor babelon seems to be listed in the dependencies..

Works here with Python 3.9.23 and Poetry 2.1.3.

Will test later on another machine with a more recent Python.

Works also fine Python 3.12.8 and 3.13.5, both with Poetry 2.1.3.

Hmm.. I cant say it worked for me. Using Python 3.11.7. I have nuked the poetry environment completely, reinstalled everything, and it still does not work (Poetry version 2.1.3).

Ah yes, I got the same thing. I did not have this plugin installed, I had to install it first (python -m pip install poetry-dynamic-versioning).

Maybe you need to git fetch --tags? ...if you are running from an older git clone. Dynamic versioning needs the tags. Can you build locally the sssom version you expect?

Thank you all for your help! After 2 hours wasting my time with this, I give up. I have

1. deleted all my poetry environments
2. deleted all sorts of caches including the lock cache
3. upgraded poetry
4. uninstalled various tools
5. ran git fetch as @dalito suggested

I still cant run poetry install (which I could until #462).

Is there anyone else that cant run poetry install or is it just me?

So Poetry fails to automatically install its poetry-dynamic-versioning in the sssom environment. No idea why, but I would suggest manually installing the poetry-dynamic-versioning plugin, not in the environment specific for the sssom repository, but in the global environment where Poetry itself is installed.

If it doesn’t work (if you run into the same dependency resolution problem when attempting to install the plugin globally), then I’d create a brand new environment specifically for a fresh setup of Poetry:

mkdir ~/poetry
virtualenv ~/poetry
. ~/poetry/bin/activate
# (in the new environment)
python -m pip install poetry poetry-dynamic-versioning
# then use that poetry over any other globally installed poetries

@gouttegd thank you.. based on your command I looked a bit closed at the global environment.

For some reason, poetry-plugin-export in the global environment interacted adversely with the poetry install..

pip uninstall poetry-plugin-export

That fixed it all. PHEW. THANKS ALL.
