formatter: blank cells carry only across a joined wrap, not after a line break - #66
With unwrap, PageFormatter carried a row's trailing blank cells into the next row when that row was wrap_continuation, even after it had emitted a line break before that row because the prior row did not wrap. A row can keep wrap_continuation after the row before it stops wrapping, so the carried blanks were printed after the break and the row came out shifted right, by up to the whole width.
Found by cmux's VT resize fuzzer (finding E2): an attach replay (cmux-tui vt_replay_bytes, which formats with unwrap) drew a row 43 or 163 columns to the right after a 20x5 to 164x14 resize. Probe of the shrunk case: row 10 wrap=false, row 11 wrap_continuation=true; the formatter emitted \r\n, then 163 spaces, then row 11's text.
Fix: read whether a line break goes out before the row (broke_before, pending blank rows) before they are flushed, and reset blank_cells then too. The existing trailing-state tests (rows 0, a continuation row) keep their results.
Not fixed here: the terminal state that leaves the stale continuation flag; the formatter no longer depends on the flags agreeing.
Tests
19ab1cbcb (test only): "Page plain wrap continuation after a row that does not wrap keeps its column" expects "abc\nu" (it gives "abc\n" + 77 spaces + "u" without the fix).
406763ee6: the fix.
cmux side: vt_replay_keeps_a_stale_wrap_continuation_row_in_its_column (cmux branch cp/fix-e2-formatter-blank-carry) fails on the current pin (fleet step 480ed523); its green run needs a published GhosttyNextKit for the pin (main only).
Not run: the Zig unit test itself (no Zig test lane on the fleet for this fork; the cmux Rust test exercises the same formatter through libghostty-vt).
Branched from 9ce9b7d08 (cmux feat's pin) so the cmux pointer change is this fix alone; it merges onto main as is.
Summary by cubic
Fixes soft-wrap handling so stale wrap flags no longer shift rows or join rows that no longer share a line, across the unwrapping PageFormatter and scroll operations.
With unwrap, trailing blank cells now reset when a line break goes out before the row, so a row keeping wrap_continuation after the prior row stops wrapping is not shifted right (cmux VT fuzz finding E2).
Scroll region scrolls, insertLines, and deleteLines with a full-width region now break soft wraps across the region edges, since only one side of each edge moves; insertLines and deleteLines also break the edge at the screen's top row into scrollback.
A linefeed or scrollUp at a bottom margin now breaks the cursor row's soft wrap into the row below before the scroll moves it.
cursorScrollAbove with a bottom margin and a print wrap at the region bottom keep their own wrap while breaking the stale one below.
breakWrapAbove clears both wrap flags of the broken pair and the spacer head a wide character can leave across the wrap.
The CI lane now runs the new formatter wrap-continuation and scroll-region wrap-edge tests.
Written for commit 7322039. Summary will update on new commits.

Bug Fixes
Fixed a terminal display issue where blank rows could appear incorrectly after wrapped text. Blank rows now render with the appropriate line break, including when the following row continues a wrapped line.
Improved line wrapping when scrolling, inserting or deleting lines, and reaching screen or scroll-region boundaries, preventing unrelated rows from being incorrectly joined.
…not wrap keeps its column (red)
cmux VT fuzz finding E2: a row marked wrap_continuation while the row before it does not wrap. The formatter emits
the line break (the prior row does not wrap) and still carries the prior row's trailing blank cells (this row says
it continues a wrap), so with unwrap it printed them after the break and the row came out shifted right.
…after a line break
With unwrap, blank cells at a row's end carried into the next row when that row was marked wrap_continuation, even
when the formatter had just emitted a line break before it (the prior row did not wrap). The flags can disagree: a
row keeps wrap_continuation after the row before it stops wrapping. The carried blanks were then printed after the
break, so the row was drawn shifted right, by up to the whole width (cmux VT fuzz finding E2: an attach replay drew
the row 43 or 163 columns to the right). Now blank cells reset when a line break goes out before the row.

Walkthrough
Screen and terminal scrolling now manage soft-wrap connections at moved region boundaries. Soft-wrap scrolling retains its connection into the new row. The formatter clears carried blank cells when a line break occurs.
Changes: Terminal soft-wrap boundary handling
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Break wrap connections at screen scroll boundaries src/terminal/Screen.zig
The screen breaks wrap connections at scroll-region edges. The new helper clears joined wrap flags and any trailing spacer head in the preceding row.
Handle wrap connections during indexing and line movement src/terminal/Terminal.zig, .github/workflows/next-xcframework.yml
Terminal indexing distinguishes ordinary linefeeds from soft wraps. Full-width scrolling, line insertion, and line deletion clear wrap connections at relevant boundaries. Tests and workflow filters cover wrap behavior.
Reset blank-cell carryover after line breaks src/terminal/formatter.zig
The formatter tracks whether pending blank rows cause a line break and clears carried blank cells in that case. A regression test checks output after a non-wrapping row with a stale wrap-continuation flag.
These edge cases can join or shift copied terminal text. The PR is mergeable with owner awareness, but the wrap-boundary and HTML formatting fixes should follow.

Clear carried blank cells when an HTML block break is consumed.
When a non-wrapping row ends an HTML page, </div> consumes the pending row break and reduces blank_rows to zero. blank_cells remains set and is passed to the next page. A stale wrap_continuation can then print those spaces before the next row.

…s its edges (red)
A scroll of a scroll region moves the rows inside it and keeps the rows
outside it. The row above the region kept wrap=true and the row below it
kept wrap_continuation=true while their neighbour inside the region was
replaced, so reflow and the unwrapping formatter joined two rows that no
longer hold one line. cmux E2: DECSTBM 3;10, a soft wrap at the region
bottom, and the row under the region kept a stale continuation that
moved its text one column on reattach.
cursorScrollRegionUp (fast and slow paths), cursorScrollAbove with a
bottom margin, insertLines and deleteLines with a full-width region move
the rows inside the region and keep the rows outside it. The row above
the region kept wrap=true and the row below kept wrap_continuation=true
while their neighbour inside was replaced, so reflow and the unwrapping
formatter joined rows that no longer hold one line. Screen.breakWrapAbove
clears both flags of the pair (and a spacer head left by a wide character)
at each edge after the scroll. Rows inside the region keep their links,
since they move together; left/right margin scrolls keep the cells outside
the margins and are not changed.
… wrap and SU at a bottom margin (red)
Review of 3c717e5: at a bottom margin, the scroll moves the cursor row up
with its wrap flag while the row it wrapped into (below the region) stays.
The index tests asserted the new blank row, which a scroll always resets;
they now assert the moved row. New: a print wrap at the region bottom keeps
its own wrap and spacer head while the stale continuation below is broken,
and SU (scrollUp) at a bottom margin breaks the moved row's wrap.
…wrap into the row below
Before a scroll at the bottom of a full-width region with rows below it,
index (not from printWrap) and scrollUp reset the cursor row's soft wrap
(cursorResetWrap: its wrap, the next row's continuation, a spacer head):
the scroll moves that row up and the row below the region does not move.
printWrap's index keeps its wrap, since it wraps into the row the scroll
makes. insertLines and deleteLines now also break the edge at the screen's
top row (into scrollback).

Break the wrap at active row zero.
When the region starts at row zero, this guard skips the top edge. If scrollback contains a wrapped row above the discarded top row, it remains joined to the row moved into row zero. Copying the screen then joins text that was separated by the discarded row.
Call breakWrapAbove for the region top unconditionally. The helper already handles both a scrollback row and the absence of a preceding row.

Leave wrap state unchanged when scrollUp receives zero.
If a caller passes count = 0 with a full-width region above a stationary row, this call can clear a valid wrap and spacer head. The following loop performs no scroll. Return before the wrap reset when count is zero, so a no-op scroll does not change reflow output. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
