Summary

  • Drop Feed, Vault, Cloud VMs, and Dock from the 0.64.0 entry in CHANGELOG.md and from the docs highlights in web/app/[locale]/docs/changelog/changelog-media.ts. Those features are not ready to ship.
  • Keep session restore on quit as a top-line 0.64.0 highlight (that part shipped). Reword the bullet so it stands on its own without the Vault branding, and roll the Gemini and Rovo Dev session-hook PRs into the same entry.
  • Update the release skill to require explicit user confirmation that each user-facing item actually shipped before drafting the changelog, and to keep changelog-media.ts in sync with that scope.

Testing

  • No app/runtime changes. Vercel preview will render the trimmed docs changelog.

Related

  • Task: trim 0.64.0 changelog page so we don't preannounce Feed/Vault/Cloud VMs/Dock

Summary by cubic

Trims the 0.64.0 changelog/docs to only shipped features and promotes session restore on quit. Adds a release check to avoid preannouncing unshipped work and clarifies the docs vs. changelog split.

  • Docs and Release Process
    • CHANGELOG.md: remove Feed, Vault, Cloud VMs, Dock and dependents (beta toggles, Feed routing, sessions sidebar search, Vault CPU loop fix); keep “Session Restore on Quit,” rewrite to stand alone, include Gemini and Rovo Dev, and note red X close restores panes/sessions.
    • web/app/[locale]/docs/changelog/changelog-media.ts: retitle 0.64.0 highlights, drop Feed/Vault/Cloud VMs/Dock, and keep “Session Restore on Quit” with the red X detail.
    • skills/release/SKILL.md: define the two-file split—CHANGELOG.md is the source for bullets; changelog-media.ts supplies the hero title and highlights—and require explicit user confirmation of shipped scope; keep both files in sync and include only shipped, user-visible changes.

Written for commit 83e6b41. Summary will update on new commits.

Greptile Summary

This PR trims the 0.64.0 changelog to only features that actually shipped by removing Feed, Vault, Cloud VMs, and Dock from both CHANGELOG.md and changelog-media.ts, and rolls the Gemini/Rovo Dev session-hook PRs into the surviving session-restore bullet. It also tightens the skills/release/SKILL.md workflow to require explicit user confirmation that each candidate item shipped before drafting changelog entries.

  • CHANGELOG.md: Feed, Vault/Sessions panel, Cloud VMs, Dock and all dependent references (Feed routing for Codex approvals, sessions-sidebar Codex search, Feed/Dock beta toggles) are removed; the Sessions panel CPU-loop fix is split so only the drag-escape fix (Fix sessions panel CPU loop on nightly #3013) remains.
  • changelog-media.ts: 0.64.0 title and four feature highlights updated to match the trimmed shipped set (Session Restore on Quit, Passkeys, File Explorer, Task Manager).
  • SKILL.md: Release workflow now gates changelog entry drafting behind an explicit shipped-scope confirmation and requires keeping changelog-media.ts in sync.

Confidence Score: 5/5

Documentation-only change with no app or runtime impact; safe to merge.

All three files are documentation and tooling (changelog copy, docs media metadata, and a release-skill prompt). No Swift, TypeScript runtime, or data-layer code is touched. Both issues flagged by earlier review passes — the orphaned sessions-sidebar bullet and the orphaned Sessions panel CPU-loop fix — are correctly resolved in this diff. The remaining CHANGELOG.md content is internally consistent with changelog-media.ts.

No files require special attention.

Important Files Changed

Filename Overview
CHANGELOG.md Removes Feed, Vault, Cloud VMs, Dock, and dependent entries from 0.64.0; merges Gemini/Rovo Dev session hooks into the session-restore bullet; splits the formerly combined "Sessions panel CPU loop / Cancel drag" fix into just the drag-escape entry.
web/app/[locale]/docs/changelog/changelog-media.ts 0.64.0 title and feature highlights trimmed to match the shipped set: Feed, Vault, Cloud VMs, and Dock removed; Session Restore on Quit, Passkeys, File Explorer, and Task Manager retained.
skills/release/SKILL.md Adds explicit user-confirmation gate before drafting user-facing entries and a requirement to mirror curated highlights into changelog-media.ts; tightens the "include only shipped changes" rule.

P1 Orphaned "sessions sidebar" reference after Vault removal

This Changed bullet references functionality inside a "sessions sidebar" — the same conceptual surface that was just dropped under the Vault/Sessions panel removal. The parallel removal was applied to "Route Codex permission approvals through Feed" (Feed not shipping → entry removed), but the equivalent "Search Codex rollout content from the sessions sidebar" was left in. If PR #3396's feature depends on a sidebar panel that isn't in the shipped build, users will see a changelog claim they cannot exercise.

Fixed - dropped the 'Search Codex rollout content from the sessions sidebar' bullet from 0.64.0 Changed and the 'Fix Sessions panel CPU loop' bullet from Fixed (kept only the unrelated cancel-drag-on-Escape part), since the Sessions panel/Vault surface is not shipping in 0.64.0.

- Resolve contradictory rule in skills/release/SKILL.md: drop the
"do not edit a separate docs changelog file" line and explicitly
describe the two-file split (CHANGELOG.md for bullets, changelog-
media.ts for hero title and feature highlights).
- Drop the "Search Codex rollout content from the sessions sidebar"

  pulled with Vault.
- Drop the Sessions panel CPU loop fix from 0.64.0 Fixed for the same
reason, keeping only the unrelated cancel-drag-on-Escape part.
