Web checks: vp fmt's closing file count is not a finding the change adds - #24436
Conversation
The merge and its base close `vp fmt --check` on different file counts whenever a pull request adds or removes a file, so over a base with format findings that line read as the one finding the merge added (#24274). Treat it as run noise, like the type check's summary. Review (codex gpt-6.1-sol): BLOCK at 3440d8b Blocking finding: Non-blocking findings: none. Checked: fetched the exact base/head refs, reviewed both commits and all changed code/tests plus the CI callers, reproduced the parser result with the formatter output shape, and ran syntax/diff-whitespace checks; no app builds or test suites. |
A file whose name starts like the summary (`Finished in 1ms on 2 files.ts`) is still a finding (Codex review of #24436). Review (codex gpt-6.1-sol): SHIP at 0350b54 Blocking findings: none. Non-blocking findings: none. Checked the merge-base diff, both parser call paths, the anchored formatter-summary and filename-prefix edge cases, and the focused test wiring; no macOS build or Swift suite was run. |
…ount line #24436 landed the Finished-in half of this fix. What remains is 'Format issues found in above N files.', whose count falls when the change fixes one of the base's misformatted files. …adds (#24527) * test(fast gates): replay #24524, vp lint's closing file count is not a finding Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Agent-Session: https://cmux.com/deeplink/agent?harness=claude&session=01a15cfc-5eec-7700-94d7-9a3a1f7d889a&host=Air-Blue * Fast gates: vp lint's closing file count is not a finding the change adds vp lint closes with "Finished in 4.8s on 2465 files with 162 rules using 4 threads."; the vp fmt pattern (#24436) has no "with N rules", so a PR that adds one webviews file on a red lint base read that line as the one finding it added (#24524). Fixes a false red in the webviews checks (fast gates and ci-web):
vp fmt --checkcloses withFinished in 528ms on 2481 files using 4 threads.. When the base already has format findings and the pull request adds or removes any file, the merge and the base close on different file counts, and that closing line reads as the one finding the merge added.Seen on
#24274's fast gates, twice, against two bases:
1 finding(s) this change adds over the base: Finished in 2057ms on 2461 files using 4 threads.1 finding(s) this change adds over the base: Finished in 528ms on 2481 files using 4 threads. Both runs say the other 3
vp fmtfindings are on the base too, so the pull request added no format finding.Fix
NOISEinscripts/ci/fast_gate_webviews_checks.pyalso matchesFinished in … on N files, the same way it already skips the type check'sFound N errors and N warningssummary. A filevp fmtnames is still a finding.Test

Fixes a false red in the webviews fast gates and CI-web:
vp fmt --check's closing line (e.g.Finished in 528ms on 2481 files using 4 threads.) is no longer counted as a finding. When the base already has format findings and the pull request adds or removes any file, the merge and base close on different file counts, which previously read as the one finding the merge added (#24274).Found N errors and N warningssummary; files the formatter actually names are still findings, including files whose names start like the summary.Written for commit 0350b54. Summary will update on new commits.
