Summary

With one machine, the workspace list had no header. Home and the App Store sat right above workspace-2 in the same row style, so Home read as just another workspace. The list now sits under a quiet "Projects" header, like the ChatGPT desktop sidebar, so the rows above it read as destinations.

  • With one machine, its header shows as "Projects": collapsible, with the new-workspace button on hover, and no machine name or status dot.
  • With a second machine (Cloud or SSH), the machine names come back as before.
  • The Home row, its Tiles default and the top section layout are unchanged.

Part of the single-sidebar work (Projects and Recents). Recents comes in a follow-up.

Testing

  • SidebarProjectsHeaderTests (committed red before the fix): a sole machine lists its workspaces under a header titled Projects, collapsing it hides them, and with two machines the headers keep their machine names.
  • Fleet build of this branch, captured on a capture Mac (captures in a comment).
  • check-no-godfiles and the localization catalog check pass locally. The new string is translated in all 21 locales.

Changelog

  • Changed: the cmux-next sidebar heads the workspace list with "Projects" when only one machine is connected.

Summary by cubic

Heads the workspace list with a "Projects" header in the cmux-next sidebar when only one machine is connected, so Home and the App Store no longer read as rows of the same list. With a second machine (Cloud or SSH), the previous machine-name headers return.

  • The "Projects" header is collapsible, includes the new-workspace button on hover, and shows no machine name or status dot.
  • Home, the Tiles default, and the top section layout are unchanged.
  • Adds SidebarProjectsHeaderTests covering the sole-machine header, its collapse behavior, and the two-machine case.
  • Adds the new "Projects" string in all 21 locales.

Written for commit 88f2a24. Summary will update on new commits.

Not verified: macOS jobs did not run: compile and app tests were skipped on 88f2a247c4; ci-status is green without them.

CI passes on 88f2a247c4 (run 37415820477 attempt 1).
macOS jobs did not run: compile and app tests were skipped: Fast static checks skipped (the macos job needs both to succeed). Re-run CI once they pass, before merging.

Written by scripts/ci/classify_failures.py (ci-failure-attribution.yml); signatures are its SIGNATURES table. A machine verdict is the runner's fault, not this PR's; yours means the failing file is one this PR changes, also red on main that main's latest full suite fails the same way.

The feat-cmux-next push run https://github.com/manaflow-ai/cmux/actions/runs/37419044566 at f5cef26 failed: cmux-next checks (god files, concurrency, crash safety, l10n).
Those jobs last passed at b2e10a5. This pull request is one of 5 merged since: #17514, #17505, #17508, #17538, #17526.
If the failure is in your change, fix forward on feat-cmux-next. Pull requests run only the tiers their paths reach (docs/ci/cmux-next-tiers.md); label a batch PR full-ci to run them all before merging.
