Part of #13019.

Against the issue's checklist

Covered here

  • Popover header: avatar, display name, current team, and the plan badge when
    the account is Pro.
  • One row per team in backend order, checkmark on the active one. Selecting a
row switches; selecting the already-active row dismisses without re-scoping.
  • Create Team… opens an inline form in the same popover. Creates in the
backend with the signed-in user as creator, makes it active, and the picker
reflects it without a restart. Failures are shown in place.
  • Settings row, opening Settings at the Account tab.
  • Opening the popover refreshes the team list, so teams gained or lost
elsewhere are right when you look at it.
  • Active team persists across launches and never points at a team you are not
in: an unknown selection falls back to a team you belong to, on every refresh
    rather than only at sign-in.
  • Configurable keyboard shortcut (toggleAccountTeamMenu), so it is editable in
    Settings and settable from ~/.config/cmux/cmux.json.
  • Localized across all nine supported locales.
  • The four behavior tests the issue asks for.

Not covered, deliberately

  • Team-scoping cloud machines and workspaces in the backend. This is the
half that makes members actually share, and it depends on how those resources
are scoped today (the question on the issue). Nothing here changes where they
    live.
  • The footer row showing avatar + name + team. cmux's sidebar footer is a
    22pt icon strip shared with Mobile Connect, Help, Upgrade and Extensions;
making the account control a full-width labelled row redesigns that strip
rather than changing one control. Left for a separate decision; the active
team is in the popover header instead.
  • Verifying one source of truth across app, CLI and web dashboard. The app
side persists through CMUXAuthTeamSelectionStore; I have not verified the
CLI and dashboard read the same selection.

What switching actually re-scopes

Every Cloud client — VMClient, RemotesClient, CoderouterClient,
AIAccountsClient, DeviceRegistryClient, PresenceHeartbeatClient — reads
auth.resolvedTeamID at call time, so the next cloud request after a switch
lands in the new team. AuthenticatedTeamScope advances its generation on the
switch, so work captured under the previous team fails its
isAuthenticatedTeamScopeCurrent check and cannot install results into the new
team's view. Both are now pinned by tests.

Shortcut

toggleAccountTeamMenu ships unbound, following .sendFeedback. Every
nearby combination is already taken, and silently claiming one from a user is
worse than shipping it configurable. It is editable in Settings and in
cmux.json. Signed out it routes to sign-in rather than opening an empty
picker, and it dispatches through one notification so the shortcut and the
button share a single open path instead of each keeping its own copy of the
popover state.

The Settings row's hint shows the user's real openSettings binding rather
than a hardcoded ⌘,, since that action is rebindable and a hint that
disagrees with the keyboard is worse than none.

Tests

AuthCoordinatorTeamMembershipTests (12): create makes the team active and
persists it, names are trimmed, a blank name never reaches the backend, a
signed-out coordinator cannot create, a created team survives a failed
follow-up list read, refresh picks up a team added elsewhere, refresh moves off
a team you were removed from, a failed refresh keeps known teams, a sign-out
racing a create leaves nothing behind, switching changes what cloud calls are
scoped to, switching fences work captured for the previous team, and a team you
are not a member of never becomes the cloud scope.

SidebarAccountTeamMenuTests (10): exactly one row marked active, backend order
preserved, an account with no teams still offers create, an active id outside
the list marks and names nothing, blank-name validation, and the create form's
state transitions.

Full CmuxAuthRuntime suite green (254). macOS app builds clean.

Not yet dogfooded

Verified by build and tests only. The popover layout and the create flow have
not been exercised in a running app.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 4.59% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 109 functions across 27 files. (2 skipped: 1 unsupported, 1 too large.)

Full details: Cmux Algorithmic Complexity

Explanation

The PR adds an unbounded collection rebuild to the SwiftUI typing path. SidebarAccountPopover.body reads presentation.activeTeamName (Sources/VerticalTabsSidebar+EmptyAreasAndFooter.swift:364), and presentation (lines 475-481) maps availableTeams and resolves activeTeam on each body recomputation. HostAccountFlow.availableTeams maps all teams (Sources/Auth/HostAccountFlow.swift:53-56), activeTeam scans them (lines 67-72), and AccountTeamMenuPresentationResolver maps and scans them again (Sources/SidebarAccountTeamMenu.swift:59-74). Typing changes the observed AccountTeamCreationState, so this performs several O(n) passes and allocates a new row array for each keystroke/body invalidation. The collection has no explicit bound, cache, or benchmark. This is introduced by the PR and violates the rule for SwiftUI body/typing paths at the expected scale of about 1000 user-owned records.

Resolution

Cache the team presentation and resolved active team in the observable account model, and invalidate that snapshot only when the backend team list or selected team changes. Make the resolver produce the rows and active name in one pass. Have SidebarAccountPopover read the cached snapshot instead of rebuilding it from body; isolate the create form if needed so name changes do not invalidate the team-list snapshot. Add a measurement or explicit lower bound only if the implementation intentionally retains the slower path.

Full details: Cmux Swift Concurrency

Explanation

The PR adds an unstructured Task { @mainactor in ... } in Sources/SidebarAccountTeamMenu.swift inside submitCreateTeam(). The task performs the team-creation network round trip and updates UI state, but the PR does not store, cancel, or otherwise tie the task to the popover lifecycle. This is meaningful app work and matches the explicit fire-and-forget failure condition. The new .task refresh is lifecycle-bound, and the notification publisher is an allowed SwiftUI/NotificationCenter boundary. No new background Dispatch queue, Combine app-state model, or completion-handler API was found.

Resolution

Tie team creation to caller-owned lifecycle. Prefer a SwiftUI .task(id:) driven by a pending-create state and let SwiftUI cancel it when the popover disappears. Alternatively, store the returned Task in the creation state or view, cancel it on dismissal/disappearance and before a replacement submission, and handle cancellation before mutating teamCreation.

Full details: Cmux Swift Package Boundaries

Explanation

The pull request adds independently testable team-picker logic to the app target. Sources/SidebarAccountTeamMenu.swift:14-114 defines AccountTeamMenuPresentation, its resolver, AccountTeamNameValidator, and AccountTeamCreationState without view types or app lifecycle dependencies. cmuxTests/SidebarAccountTeamMenuTests.swift:17-109 tests these types directly. This matches the boundary rule for feature logic that can compile and test outside the app target. The SwiftPM auth changes are correctly placed in CmuxAuthRuntime; the remaining SwiftUI view and notification wiring are allowed app glue.

Resolution

Move the pure team-picker model, resolver, name validator, and creation state into the existing CmuxSettingsUI SwiftPM target, with AccountTeamMenuPresentation as the first public type. Add the corresponding tests to CmuxSettingsUI tests. Keep SidebarAccountPopover view extensions, notification wiring, shortcut routing, localization presentation, and app lifecycle composition in the app target.

Full details: Cmux Full Internationalization

Explanation

The PR adds eight production localization keys to Resources/Localizable.xcstrings, but each key has translations for only 9 locales (ar, de, en, es, fr, ja, ko, zh-Hans, zh-Hant). The base catalog already supports 20 locales, including bs, da, it, km, nb, pl, pt-BR, ru, th, tr, and uk. The new keys therefore violate the rule requiring translated entries for every locale already supported by the touched catalog. The new Swift UI strings otherwise use String(localized:defaultValue:) or existing localized keys.

Resolution

Add non-empty, translated stringUnit entries for bs, da, it, km, nb, pl, pt-BR, ru, th, tr, and uk to all eight new keys in Resources/Localizable.xcstrings: shortcut.toggleAccountTeamMenu.label, sidebar.account.plan.pro, auth.error.invalid_team_name, sidebar.account.createTeam, sidebar.account.createTeam.confirm, sidebar.account.createTeam.failed, sidebar.account.createTeam.namePlaceholder, and sidebar.account.createTeam.title.

Full details: Cmux Architecture Rethink

Explanation

The new shortcut path introduces an unscoped UI side channel and duplicates the account-menu action. AppDelegate posts .cmuxToggleAccountTeamMenu with object: nil, while every SidebarAccountMenuButton subscribes and toggles its own isPopoverPresented. ContentView creates the sidebar footer per window, so one shortcut can toggle every account popover instead of only the routed window. The button's direct action separately implements the same toggle/sign-in behavior. This violates the rule's side-channel and duplicate-entrypoint conditions. The missing invariant is that one shortcut event changes only the active window's account-menu state. The account-menu owner should remain the per-window UI state, while the action should use a window-scoped target and one shared action closure.

Resolution

Replace the global notification with a window-scoped account-menu action. Route the shortcut through the selected main-window context and pass the target to the owning sidebar view, or use a window-owned coordinator with value snapshots and action closures. Make the footer button and shortcut call the same semantic action for signed-in and signed-out states. Add a two-window test that proves only the targeted window toggles and that one event causes one state transition.

🟡 Minor · Clear selectedTeamID after a successful empty response. · AuthCoordinator.swift:708

Packages/Shared/CmuxAuthRuntime/Sources/CmuxAuthRuntime/Coordinator/AuthCoordinator.swift:708
🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Clear selectedTeamID after a successful empty response.

When listTeams() succeeds with [], resolveTeamID preserves the persisted selection. authenticatedTeamScope rejects that ID because it is not in availableTeams, but direct API clients still read resolvedTeamID and can send the removed ID as their team scope. Preserve the selection only when the refresh fails.

Proposed fix
- selectedTeamID = Self.resolveTeamID(selectedTeamID: selectedTeamID, teams: teams)
+ selectedTeamID = teams.isEmpty
+ ? nil
+ : Self.resolveTeamID(selectedTeamID: selectedTeamID, teams: teams)

Add a test for removal from the final team.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Synchronize the sign-out race test.

At Line 140, async let does not prove that createTeam is in flight before signOut starts. The test can pass without exercising the session-generation guard. Add a create-start continuation and a release gate to FakeAuthClient. Wait for the start signal, sign out, then release the create operation.

As per coding guidelines, “A correctness test waits ON a real completion signal.”

Superseded by #13051, which shipped this and the backend/CLI half I'd flagged as out of scope here. Closing.

Thanks for the pointer on server-side team selection — reading selectedTeamID() back from the backend is the piece this was missing.
