Align the unset-HOME fallback.
When HOME is unset, Resources/bin/cmux-claude-wrapper:856 resolves the default to /.cmux, while CLI/cmux.swift:23708-23710 falls back to NSHomeDirectory()/.cmux. The CLI and wrapper can therefore use different restore-module paths. Use the same resolved home value in both implementations and add an unset-HOME integration case.

Align wrapper HOME resolution with Swift
When HOME is unset and CMUX_NODE_OPTIONS_DIR is empty, ensure_node_options_restore_module expands ${HOME} to an empty string and uses /.cmux. Its invocation at install_cmux_node_options then creates the restore module under that path. createClaudeNodeOptionsRestoreModule instead falls back to NSHomeDirectory(), so the two paths can select different cmux-node-options directories. Apply one shared, validated resolution policy to the wrapper, including ~/ expansion, or fail closed when no safe home path exists.

Harden the durable
NODE_OPTIONSrestore shim path handling: reject whitespace, quotes, backslashes, and relative paths; expand~/; and keep the fixedcmux-node-optionschild directory consistent between the Swift CLI and wrapper. Tests isolate the directory under their temporary sandbox and cover the path contract.Validation:
bash -n Resources/bin/cmux-claude-wrapper; targeted Python path-contract test;git diff --check; Swift file-length budget check. Builds were not run per Linux-only instructions. The pre-existing full wrapper suite still has an unrelated computer-use auth-file failure on this Linux host.Summary by cubic
Follow-up to #12208. Moves the durable
NODE_OPTIONSrestore module out of the swept temp directory into$HOME/.cmux(or aCMUX_NODE_OPTIONS_DIRoverride) so it survives the session, validates paths so the shim can round-trip them, and fixes computer-use auth file checks on Linux.~/to$HOME.cmux-claude-wrapperkeep their resolution rules in sync, including the fixedcmux-node-optionschild directory.statoutput.Written for commit 3bf57b7. Summary will update on new commits.
Note
Medium Risk
Changes where the NODE_OPTIONS preload lives and how paths are validated; a bad override skips injection but could affect long-lived Claude sessions if the durable file is missing or paths diverge between Swift and the wrapper.
Overview
Follow-up to #12208: the NODE_OPTIONS restore preload is no longer written under swept TMPDIR; both

Paths must be absolute and reject whitespace, quotes, and backslashes;~/is expanded. Invalid or unusable guard directories fail closed—hooks still run but NODE_OPTIONS injection is skipped.Tests set
