Persist tagged cron/event triggers, optional next firing, configuration revision and event activation. Preserve deployed cron inserts and database ID defaults; new repository inserts generate UUIDv7 IDs. Share row decoding, scope management lookups/mutations to owners, retain entity registry utilities, and exclude event actions from both cron dispatchers and next-run updates. Direct dependencies beyond the task file list: domain/service.rs now uses the scoped lookup instead of list scans; tokio_dispatcher/test.rs covers timer guards. Authorization stays in the domain service; persistence stays in the outbound repo. Verification: isolated local database macro_t02 migrated successfully. Live SQL checks passed for legacy insertion, 14 invalid shapes, revision constraints and cron/event/cron transitions. All 15 repository/test SQLx macros and the shared ActionRow compiled in an isolated driver; SQLx 0.8.6 generated root metadata via SQLX_OFFLINE_DIR. No metadata was hand-written. Rustfmt and changed-file AST rules passed (jj-scoped equivalents of the Git-only just check recipe). Environment limits: default migration recipe hits a pre-existing checksum mismatch; both package-test attempts stop in openssl-sys (missing Perl FindBin). Nix is unavailable, so full workspace preparation remains to be rerun. Accept canonical tagged triggers and strict legacy cron inputs; reject mixed and server-owned fields. Return canonical triggers with deprecated cron-only fields, document include_events opt-in, and map typed policy failures to sanitized HTTP errors. Preserve user/internal authentication and owner-scoped ID lookups independent of list filtering. Construct actions in the domain service, default event management off, advance configuration revisions, renew event activation on enable/trigger changes, and preserve disabled manual execution without event context. Permit disabling existing event actions even when management is off. Keep execution state immutable through management requests. Direct dependency beyond the assigned file list: pg_scheduled_action_repo.rs and its tests enforce revision comparison and active-execution guards atomically, closing the read/update claim race. Authorization and business policy remain in the domain; HTTP and persistence remain adapters. Verification: 24 tests passed in an isolated harness using the changed models/service/router/swagger and real authorization adapter, with only heavyweight unrelated domain contracts omitted. Isolated clippy had no changed-code findings. Live transactional PostgreSQL checks passed for active replacement rejection, disabling with a preserved claim, stale/foreign/competing revisions, and unclaimed replacement. SQLx 0.8.6 compiled the changed query and generated root metadata. Rustfmt and jj-scoped AST checks passed. Environment limits: all three requested cargo test commands stop before this crate in openssl-sys because Perl FindBin is missing. Nix is unavailable; full workspace preparation remains required. just check cannot discover this jj workspace, so its formatting/code-rule checks were run explicitly. Generated path: .sqlx/query-4889cf7b6100a28da3f99b43b9264f7607636456460db845b8abfe3814b7b7f7.json
Add a durable (action_id, event_id) queue with compact normalized context, revision, admission sequence, lifecycle, history linkage and retained tombstones. Add nullable action claim tokens without changing deployed cron/manual inserts. Implement EventRunRepository with bounded indexed matching, same-filter exact rechecks, conflict-safe admission, action-first locking, FIFO start transitions, SKIP LOCKED dispatch, token-fenced atomic history/finalization, cancellation and interruption reconciliation. Expired manual claims can be replaced; event claims must be reconciled before another event starts. Delayed bookkeeping may finish until reconciliation wins the terminal transition, without rerunning the agent. Hexagonal boundaries checked: only scheduled_action persistence is touched; authorization and execution orchestration remain behind the existing domain ports. T05 must migrate the existing cron/manual writers to fenced tokens and hard execution deadlines before event dispatch is enabled. Verification: - Fresh local macro_t04 migrated successfully; the migrate_db recipe passed with DATABASE_URL overridden to this database. The default database has a pre-existing migration checksum mismatch and was not reset or modified. - 15 live PostgreSQL repository tests passed in an isolated driver compiling the unchanged repository and tests, real action/filter/run models and small owning dependencies. Only the unused entity receipt capability and migrator wiring were substituted to avoid unrelated heavyweight dependencies. - SQLx 0.8.6 checked all 42 macro invocations against the migrated schema and generated root .sqlx metadata with SQLX_OFFLINE_DIR; no metadata was handwritten. - EXPLAIN confirmed indexed event-name containment uses the partial GIN index. - Changed-file rustfmt, AST rules and isolated-driver clippy passed (the driver alone has an unused-import warning from its trimmed domain module). Environment limitations: focused scheduled_action package tests and root prepare_db stop in openssl-sys due to missing Perl FindBin. Nix is unavailable. The Git-based just check cannot discover this JJ workspace; equivalent scoped format/AST checks passed. Failed root preparation removed its cache; parent cache was restored with JJ and only this task's metadata regenerated. Rerun full workspace preparation and scheduled_action tests in the supported Nix toolchain. Share an injected ScheduledAgentRunner between tracked cron/manual execution and the awaitable EventExecutor. Preserve immediate chat-ID responses, automation metering and bot tool attribution. Supply event references as a separate user data message; cancel sessions/tools on drop, shutdown and deadline, and fail stream errors/timeouts. Event workers own atomic terminal persistence and fenced release; no model/tool execution retries are introduced. Cron/manual claims and releases now use fresh UUIDv7 tokens. Wire owning chat/message/memory/notification ports and tracked shutdown in the service composition root. Verification: 33 isolated tests passed, covering executor orchestration, stream/context behavior, fenced SQL claims, and the existing 15 event-run repository tests against local PostgreSQL. The isolated harness used actual executor/query/stream helper sources with receipt/attachment/provider-error stand-ins, so it does not replace a full package build. Changed-file rustfmt and AST rules passed. Both requested cargo test commands are blocked by missing Perl FindBin during OpenSSL compilation; nix develop --command just prepare_db is unavailable because Nix is absent. just check cannot discover changes in this JJ-only workspace; its applicable checks were run directly. ChatService/MemoryService/NotificationIngress wiring, AiFeature::Automation and unchanged bot attribution were manually reviewed. Generated root SQLx metadata via the SQLx compiler against local PostgreSQL for the exact modified claim queries (no hand-edited metadata): .sqlx/query-cdc548895d477a0862934b40476b12321741fa0ad2ef33c5ce371727686788fa.json and .sqlx/query-d33f587b2e81db6c6d6c6db12629590b62c522e229149217f4106ff7ba16b101.json. Two existing repository fake implementations in domain/service/test.rs and pg_polling_dispatcher/test.rs were necessarily updated for the fenced port signature. Hexagonal boundary checked: owning ports are injected; authorization policy stays in domain services.
Generate the scheduled-action OpenAPI/client from the real local Rust binary. Use canonical cron payloads for create, update, and duplicate. Centralize legacy cached-cron compatibility and exclude events from AutomationEntity conversion. Show backend-managed state for direct event routes and block stale edits, duplicates, and debounced saves. Direct dependencies beyond the task file list: service-scheduled-action/client.ts opts into include_events=true because the API has no single-action GET; agent-schedule/triggers.ts shares the explicit compatibility helper between queries and the editor. No new legacy block dependencies or event editor. Verification: real generation passed using macro-build-env from apps/web (the root invocation reached generation but its final Biome step assumes the web cwd/PATH). All 21 focused tests passed. Scoped Biome CI, oxlint, and AST checks passed. just check could not discover changes in the JJ-only workspace, so equivalent gates used jj diff file paths. Full type-check reports 16 existing TanStack query-core identity errors outside changed files. Browser verification blocked: bun run dev cannot build cache WASM because wasm-pack is unavailable; Nix is unavailable. No live backend/browser flow was claimed. Add paged, normalized event admission and current-owner reauthorization before fenced starts. Preserve document ViewAccessLevel and channel ViewOnly receipts with a typed capability and domain binding validation. Add a ten-run bounded awaitable worker, terminal finalization, and deadline reconciliation without execution retries. Share fake domain ports for regression tests and adapt existing executor/repository capability fixtures. Verification: all 120 scheduled_action tests passed against local PostgreSQL via macro-build-env with SQLX_OFFLINE unset; focused domain/event-access/worker tests passed. Root cargo fmt --check and changed-file AST rules passed. just check could not discover files in this Jujutsu-only workspace, so its relevant checks were run directly. No SQL changes or cache regeneration required.
Use default-off EVENT_ROUTINES_ENABLED for management, ingestion, and dispatch. Compose the existing Kafka/Postgres/access/agent adapters, supervise fresh consumers after intake failures, cap event execution at two runs per replica, and share an eight-second shutdown deadline across HTTP and tracked work. Document operator Doppler registration, rollout/rollback, retention, and no retry. Direct dependency changes: expose bounded worker capacity and execution tracking, check cancellation before domain claims, and cover disabled event re-enabling. Authorization and event eligibility remain in domain services. Verification: scheduled_action full package passed (122 library + 9 service tests), as did the requested service/config commands using macro-build-env --local-db. Changed-file rustfmt and AST checks passed. just check cannot discover changes in this Jujutsu-only workspace; explicit equivalent scoped checks were used. Live Kafka/IAM and operator rollout verification remain release actions.

📝 SummarySummary by CodeRabbit
WalkthroughThe change adds event-triggered scheduled actions alongside cron actions. It defines event filters and validation, persists event runs, and adds Kafka intake, dispatch workers, and agent execution. The API and web client support trigger-based configurations while retaining legacy cron compatibility. Cron scheduling continues through cron-specific dispatch paths, and the web editor displays a backend-managed state for event-triggered routines. Priority: ⚪ Not assessed Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to This change adds event-triggered routines behind a default-off flag. Once the flag is enabled, one slow routine can delay other routines and recovery cleanup. A single malformed routine configuration can also stop event intake on a Kafka partition until someone intervenes. Separately, the automation editor can disappear and lose a pending edit when a background refresh fails. Resolve the worker and consumer issues before enabling event routines. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 4✅ Passed checks (4 passed)

Regarding the migration-idempotence nitpick in the CodeRabbit review: no migration change is needed.
The four inline CodeRabbit threads have been fixed, replied to, and resolved. This nitpick is embedded in the review summary rather than a resolvable inline thread, so its disposition is recorded here. Hexagonal boundaries were checked; authorization and business policy remain in domain services. Local validation passed: 142 Rust tests, 28 focused frontend tests, 12 Chromium component tests, 57 SDK tests, strict Clippy, TypeScript checking, and root SQLx preparation. Browser coverage is component-level, not an authenticated full-stack smoke test. |

Summary
Implements MACRO-3553: support routines using Kafka event filters.
EVENT_ROUTINES_ENABLED.Verification
wasm-pack.just checkchange discovery did not work in isolated JJ workspaces; direct scoped checks were run instead.Rollout
Apply additive migrations first, then deploy trigger-aware service replicas and compatible clients with the gate off. Register
EVENT_ROUTINES_ENABLED=falsein Doppler and enable only as a separate release action after rollout verification. Do not roll back to cron-only binaries once event-only rows exist.See
services/scheduled_action/README.mdfor contracts, limits, operator checks, and remaining verification steps.Note
High Risk
Changes core scheduling execution, DB invariants, and Kafka-driven dispatch with claim/concurrency semantics; rollout is gated but rollback after event rows exist is constrained.
Overview
Adds event-triggered routines alongside cron: the scheduled-action API and schema now use a tagged
trigger(cron or allowlisted Kafka event filters),configuration_revision, and optionalinclude_eventslisting; legacy top-levelschedule/timezoneremain on responses for cron only.Backend: Migrations extend
scheduled_actionand introducescheduled_action_event_runwith queued admission, fencedclaim_tokenclaims, and lifecycle outcomes. The service wires Kafka intake, admission/dispatch workers, entity access rechecks, and a refactored in-process agent executor behind default-offEVENT_ROUTINES_ENABLED, with coordinated graceful shutdown.Frontend: Cron automations read/write
triggerpayloads; automation lists stay cron-only while direct routes load event routines to show a backend-managed state (no edit/duplicate/run/history). Query handling avoids reading pending data and keeps cached cron editors usable after refetch errors.OpenAPI/SDK/sqlx artifacts and agent docs are updated to match.
