A Petri dish (named after bacteriologist Julius Richard Petri) is an enclosed dish used to culture cells in a laboratory. Today, biologists can engineer cells to express fluorescent proteins for tacking purposes.
Note : in practice, poking fingers inside a Petri dish is a definite no-no.
