Summary

  • Add persisted provider-scoped googleToolSchemaPolicy with opt-in reject-lossy: lossy or comparison-indeterminate initial compilation throws a content-free policy error before any physical send.
  • The 400 repair path reports bounded categories (repair-opened-schema) and withholds a constraint-erasing repair under strict policy, returning the original upstream 400 with no changed send and no attempt-accounting change.
  • Field chain: type, schema validation, management editor admission (editor-safe), ocx provider add --google-tool-schema-policy, adapter resolution, all three endpoint compile paths, and Vertex/Cloud Code Assist repair wrappers. Omission keeps the compatible report-only behavior; direct mode never repairs.
  • Documentation in English and all seven locales.

1 #5162 endpoint-scoped loss reporting (base)

Based on the open parent branch codex/5112-google-schema-loss-report (head 551a720); review this PR's diff only. After the parent lands this PR will be retargeted to dev and rebased, with fresh exact-head CI.

Closes #5112

Verification

  • Static: field-chain scan (type/validation/editor/CLI/adapter/compiler/repair), policy error content-freedom, repair withheld before activeRequest/attempt mutation, direct-mode repairInvalid400:false intact, both test-layout inventories, no ratchet-capped file grew, git diff --check clean.
  • Structure: canonical owners edited; reviewed-unchanged mapped documents (catalog, subagents, byte-accounting, responses, streaming-health, images, inbound-compat, xai-grok, registry, claude-desktop, service-and-sidecars, cursor, chat-compat) carried no claim invalidated by this change per the contract-authority rule.
  • NOT RUN locally (campaign restriction): tests, typecheck, builds.
  • Exact-head hosted CI is the required execution evidence, including the strict acceptance matrix: zero initial sends on lossy or indeterminate compilation, zero repaired sends when repair erases constraints, canary privacy, direct-mode non-repair.

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults. The policy error and repair diagnostic are content-free by construction; management editor admission treats the field as editor-safe non-secret state.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added the Google-only googleToolSchemaPolicy setting with compatible and reject-lossy modes; omission preserves compatible behavior.
    • Added CLI and provider-editor support with validation.
    • Added bounded, content-free diagnostics for Google tool-schema losses, uncertainty, and repairs.
    • Strict mode rejects lossy or indeterminate schemas before sending and prevents modified repair requests for supported endpoints; direct AI Studio does not perform repairs.
  • Documentation

    • Updated provider configuration and troubleshooting guides across supported languages.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change adds the Google-only googleToolSchemaPolicy setting. Google request compilation now reports bounded schema loss, supports reject-lossy, and applies policy handling to initial requests and non-direct 400 repairs. Tests and documentation cover the behavior.

Changes

Google tool-schema policy

Layer / File(s) Summary
Bounded loss reporting and compilation
src/adapters/google-tool-schema.ts, src/adapters/google-wire-compiler.ts
The compiler reports bounded loss categories and uncertain comparisons. reject-lossy raises GoogleToolSchemaPolicyError before dispatch for lossy or indeterminate compilation. Repair results include bounded loss metadata.
Adapter and transport integration
src/adapters/google.ts, src/adapters/google-http.ts
The adapter resolves the provider policy and passes endpoint profiles through all Google request paths. Vertex and Cloud Code Assist can withhold constraint-opening repairs and return the original 400. Direct Gemini keeps repair disabled.
Policy configuration and management
src/types/provider.ts, src/config/schema/leaf-validators.ts, src/server/auth-cors.ts, src/cli/provider.ts, structure/config.md, structure/gui-and-management-api.md, tests/cli/cli-provider.test.ts, tests/server/management-google-tool-schema-policy.test.ts, tests/fixtures/test-layout-expected.json, scripts/test-layout/layout.json
The optional Google-only field accepts compatible or reject-lossy. CLI and management paths validate and persist the field. Invalid values leave configuration unchanged.
Schema, policy, and privacy verification
tests/adapters/google/google-tool-schema-contract.test.ts
Tests cover schema-loss categories, bounded counts, privacy, output-schema preservation, strict initial rejection, compatible and strict repair behavior, direct mode, and content-free diagnostics.
Documentation and architecture contracts
docs-site/src/content/docs/*/guides/providers.md, docs-site/src/content/docs/*/reference/configuration/providers.md, structure/providers/google.md, structure/providers-and-adapters.md, structure/runtime.md, structure/transports/inventory.md, structure/ops/docs-and-release.md
English and translated documentation describe policy values, initial refusal, repair withholding, direct-mode behavior, diagnostics, persisted defaults, and ownership boundaries.

Add persisted provider-scoped googleToolSchemaPolicy with an opt-in
reject-lossy value. Under the policy, any initial compilation with
schema loss throws a content-free policy error before the request can
reach a physical send, and a structured 400 repair that would erase
declaration constraints is withheld: the original upstream 400 returns
through the existing error path with no changed repair send, no
attempt accounting change, and a content-free repair diagnostic. The
field is validated at the schema boundary, admitted to the management
provider editor as editor-safe state, creatable through
ocx provider add, and documented in English and all seven locales.
Omission remains the compatible report-only behavior; direct mode
keeps its existing no-repair path.

Closes #5112
Cascade follow-up to the parent's uncertainty reporting: strict policy
now refuses when bounded comparison is exhausted (uncertainComparisons
> 0) as well as on proven loss, and the policy error names the
indeterminate cause. An exhausted comparison can hide a changed
constraint, so unknown is never admitted as lossless. Compatible mode
is unchanged. Adapter-boundary tests assert refusal with zero sends
for every endpoint mode.

Closes #5112
…ir test

n
The withheld-repair contract returns the original upstream 400 through
the pre-existing normalization, which preserves ordinary upstream detail
text. The previous assertion wrongly demanded the client response exclude
the canary; the canary exclusion binds the new google-tool-schema-repair
diagnostic record, which remains asserted. Hosted CI run 35443168272
shard test 1/4 caught the wrong assertion (red); this is the fix.

Part of #5112
…r domain

The layout membership oracle requires the regex seed and the explicit
table to agree: google-tool-schema-policy-config.test.ts seeded to
adapters/google while sitting in tests/server. Rename to the server
convention (management-google-tool-schema-policy.test.ts) so the seed
resolves correctly, and update both inventories. The oracle is
unchanged.

docs-site/src/content/docs/guides/providers.md:220 - 공개 안내문은 reject-lossy가 처음 손실만 막는다고 적는다. src/adapters/google-wire-compiler.ts:237은 손실이 없어도 uncertainComparisons > 0이면 막는다. 비교가 중간에 끊긴 요청도 안 나간다. 설정 참고 docs-site/src/content/docs/reference/configuration/providers.md:221과 일곱 번역본도 이 문장이 없다. 안쪽 문서 structure/providers/google.md:106만 맞게 적혀 있다.

Review fold: strict policy refuses initial loss OR an indeterminate
bounded comparison (uncertainComparisons > 0), and the initial and
repair diagnostics carry the bounded uncertainty count. All eight
guides, all eight provider-configuration pages, and the structure
contract now say so consistently.

Part of #5112
Review fold: the Cloud Code Assist and direct-mode strict tests now
assert the returned body is exactly the original upstream error payload,
not merely status 400 and a single send, and the guide texts state that
repair withholding applies only under reject-lossy while omitted or
compatible policies replay the repaired request (all eight locales).

docs-site/src/content/docs/tr/guides/providers.md lines 155-158, state that
strict reject-lossy initial compilation rejection emits no
google-tool-schema-loss record, while preserving the separate
google-tool-schema-repair diagnostic behavior for repair attempts.

Source-confirmed: under reject-lossy the compiler throws before the
diagnostic call, so the initial loss record appears only on the
omitted/compatible path; the policy error carries the same bounded
facts, and the repair path keeps its separate record. Clarified in all
eight guides.

Part of #5112
Review fold: the policy error carries phase, endpoint class, category
counts, and the indeterminate flag, not the full report shape. The
clause claiming otherwise is removed from all eight guides; the strict
no-loss-record statement stays.

Maintainer integration into dev under MAINTAINERS.md by the authenticated project owner, not a self-approval.

Reviewed head eb5d51b7c022637ac086639a695864bcf1f7a136 passed every applicable hosted check and aggregate in https://github.com/lidge-jun/opencodex/actions/runs/35450471540 . Type and privacy checks passed in the gates job. Logs explicitly execute three endpoint initial-loss and uncertainty refusal cases with zero sends, lossless/native-output cases, indexed/unindexed repair withholding, direct-mode no repair, and CLI/management persistence validation. Independent core, policy, documentation, cascade and integration-union reviews passed. The final guide-only corrections add no runtime changes.

The report parent #5162 is already on dev. This child adds the complete opt-in policy chain while preserving omitted/compatible behavior, original withheld-repair errors and content-free diagnostics. Current integration tree 569e9a6780df8ded11937565b3b4daeeadabdbe8 preserves the current writer-ownership and registry-hint work. Public review threads are resolved; no maintainer objection or native-stack membership remains. Actor, dev base and exact head were revalidated. Local suites, typecheck, build and runtime execution were NOT RUN.

Issue #5112 closes only after actual dev landing and ancestry verification. The cumulative dev result remains a separate tracked commitment.
