Add focused tests for the new diagnostic
This commit adds the projection, error classifier, debug emission, and a duplicated session-anchor decision without adding any tests, even though the comment above this function says its correspondence with antigravitySessionId is pinned behaviorally. A later change to either branch can therefore make the diagnostic report the wrong anchor, and the privacy/bounding claims are also unverified; add focused adapter tests covering anchor correspondence, ordinal pairing, truncation, classification, and the debug gate.

Update the owned adapter structure documents
The commit changes three files in the owned src/adapters/ area but updates none of the documents mapped to that area in structure/INDEX.md. Repository policy requires every mapped document to be updated in the same change, so the documented adapter architecture does not record this new diagnostic surface; update the applicable structure documents alongside the source change.

Record actual signature replay outcomes
These booleans do not measure the facts their output names: a client-echoed signature populates replayedCallIds at google.ts:393-398 without calling the durable lookup, while a signature injected by applyAntigravityReplay at line 982 leaves the list empty; similarly, _reasoningReplayScope may contain only clientThreadId even though the replay store's keyFor rejects scopes lacking a complete current identity or durable credential. Debug captures can therefore report lookupHit and scopeMatched opposite to what happened, undermining the diagnostic; propagate actual lookup/cache-hit and scope-admission outcomes instead.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
…ove (#5008) Adversarial review found the two signature booleans claimed more than the call site knows: replayedCallIds conflates a client-supplied signature with a durable-store hit and misses the Antigravity session cache entirely, and a bound replay scope is not a complete one. They are now counts and a presence flag with the names they earn, and a call turn after an unrecognized role no longer reports a model turn.
…s name (#5008) The leak assertion planted the parent thread id 'parent-a', which is a substring of the anchor class literal 'parent-and-own' the same line asserts is present. The diagnostic never carried the id; the marker collided with the class name. Both shards reported only this one failure.
…est path (#5079 review) Four review defects. The projection was evaluated in argument position, so a throw inside it would have rejected buildRequest; it now goes through a lazy provider diagnostic that gates first and evaluates the builder inside its own try/catch. The item ceilings alone let a worst case serialize past the debug buffer's per-line cap, which cut the JSON while the retained prefix still claimed truncated:false; a serialized budget at half that cap now trims turn detail and the flag stays honest. The send-count assertion counted fetches around buildRequest, which never fetches, so it is replaced by a real fetchResponse exercise under a controlled executor, a send budget and onPhysicalSend. The timing claim is corrected rather than engineered away: with debug on the walk is synchronous on the dispatch path and linear in history length, and the docs say so. Also shares the session-anchor decision, the bypass sentinel and the two upstream error predicates instead of keeping second copies.

Broaden the shared error matchers.
The extraction preserved the previous expressions, so it did not itself narrow coverage. However, the current matchers still reject tab or repeated-whitespace variants and do not match thinking-config.
When isGoogleThinkingConfigErrorText returns false, repairGoogleInvalidRequestBody returns undefined before removing generationConfig.thinkingConfig. classifyGoogleWireUpstreamError uses these same matchers, so it returns other for the same payload.

…sion assertion (#5079 review) The serialized budget trims the long-session case below the turn ceiling, so pinning the retained detail to the turn ceiling alone was wrong once both bounds existed. The assertion now fixes what actually matters: exact totals, a head-anchored remainder, and a summary that fits a debug line. The dispatch comparison also stops claiming more than it checks and now compares the whole outbound body with only the per-build request id normalized out.
Summary
Adds a content-free structural projection of the compiled Google wire request so #5008 can be
investigated from the request that actually failed. It does not change how requests are built or
sent, and it does not attempt a fix.
The report is an intermittent 400 on the first upstream send of a long Antigravity session:
"Please ensure that function call turn comes immediately after a user turn or after a function
response turn." What is missing is a description of the failing wire, and the only description a
user can attach to a public issue is one that carries no conversation in it.
summarizeGoogleWireShapereads the request object aftercompileGoogleWireBodyand afterAntigravity replay and signature adjustment, which is the exact object the envelope carries, and
returns counts, positions, kinds and booleans:
time and calls the Antigravity session cache signed afterwards
anchor, or none
It never retains prompts, tool arguments, tool results, tool or function names, original or wire
call ids, signature text or any hash of it, inline file bytes, project or account identifiers, the
request id, the Cloud Code Assist session id, Codex thread or session ids, or the first user
message. A test plants a marker in every content field a fixture can carry and asserts none of
them reaches a summary.
What it costs and what it cannot do
The projection is off by default and runs only behind the existing provider debug gate
(
ocx debug provider on,OCX_DEBUG=1). The adapter passes a builder todebugProviderDiagnosticLazyrather than a built object, which buys two things. A request withprovider debug off never pays the walk, because the logger gates before invoking the builder. And
a throw inside the projection cannot reach the request path, because the builder runs inside the
logger's own try/catch — evaluating it in argument position would have turned a diagnostic fault
into a rejected
buildRequestand one send into zero. With provider debug on, the observation is not free and this PR does not claim otherwise. The
walk over every turn, part and call id, the serialization, the redaction copy, the ring-buffer
update and the console write all happen synchronously on the dispatch path before the request is
sent, and the cost is linear in history length — largest for exactly the long sessions this exists
to describe. That is the price of observing the real outbound body instead of a reconstruction,
and an operator who enables provider debug for a 440-message session pays it on every turn. The
bytes, the send count, the signature selection and the send budget are unchanged either way.
Two ceilings bound the output. The item ceilings cap retained turns and per-turn ordinal lists;
a serialized ceiling at half
MAX_DEBUG_LINE_BYTESthen trims turn detail from the tail until thesummary fits. Without the second, a worst case inside the first serializes past the debug buffer's
per-line cap, and the buffer truncates at a byte boundary — leaving a consumer with unparseable
JSON whose retained prefix still reads
truncated: false. Totals stay exact in every case. What the upstream contract says, with sources
devlog/_plan/260919_5008_antigravity_turn_ordering/000_upstream_contract_evidence.mdrecords theresearch. Two findings matter for how this issue is read.
The error is a Google service-layer
400 INVALID_ARGUMENTvalidating the submittedcontents[],not a client-library check; it has been captured directly from
daily-cloudcode-pa.googleapis.com/v1internal:streamGenerateContent.And the contract says a model text-only turn immediately followed by a separate model
functionCallturn is invalid, because the call turn then follows a model turn. That is thereporter's case A, which was read as evidence against a translator cause because it returned 200.
A near-identical report against another Antigravity proxy blames exactly this shape: Gemini
3.6/3.7 Flash failing after several tool rounds once a converted reasoning carrier became a model
turn immediately before another model
functionCall.messagesToGeminiFormatcan emit that pairtoday, since it pushes one
modelturn per assistant message. That is a sourced structural candidate rather than a proof: a 200 on the isolated case A is a real
observation too, and the two together suggest the rule is enforced conditionally. Nothing found
establishes which condition, and no public source shows that
sessionIdmakes Cloud Code Assistvalidate against hidden server-side history. The projection flags this shape as
call-turn-after-model-turnand does not act on it.Deliberately not done here: no change to
messagesToGeminiFormat, no new adjacency rewrite, noretry or repair path, and no claim that any flagged shape caused the reported 400.
Refs #5008. The issue stays open: the evidence does not explain an intermittent first-send 400 on
a wire that is independently valid.
Verification
typecheck, build, install, or the
ocxbinary, so verification is static reasoning plus hostedCI at the exact head.
test 1/4-4/4,macos 1/2-2/2,typecheck,privacy scan, structure, and the file-size ratchet.scripts/test-layout/layout.jsonandtests/fixtures/test-layout-expected.json.through the real logger, and a hostile body is driven through the exact expression the adapter
hands it. The send count is now measured on the real dispatch path, through
fetchResponseunder a controlled executor with a send budget and
onPhysicalSend, debug on and debug off —the previous assertion counted fetches around
buildRequest, which never fetches, so it couldnot have failed. The worst case inside the item ceilings is driven through the real debug
buffer and parsed back out.
