Using some publicly accessible URLs , sharedown will popup a chrome browser and ask for credentials but if i put the same url directly in any other browser such as brave etc the video starts playing as it should. i have tried changing the default browser to brave but the same issue occurs and the url redirects to https://login.microsoftonline.com/smelongurl.

I have never saved any credentials in brave etc .

I have tried changing to yt-dlp and ffmpeg as downloader and also changed the login module to university (do not need logins option) but still asks for credentials

weird, are you sure you are not logged in in browsers?
can you share one of these public no-login videos?

mh, the only thing that comes to my mind is that maybe sharepoint is being triggered by puppeteer and requires a login as a safe measure?
maybe you can try to play with puppeteer launch arguments

the basic login module is the one for no automatic login, ie manual login/whatever if any, but none of them add a login requirement, it is just automatic input
