library.json is a library manifest file which can be used by the different tools/managers to organise embedded libraries. How does this look from CLI:

$ platformio lib search "mqtt"
# Found ... libraries:
#
# [ ID ] Name Compatibility "Authors": Description
# -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# [ 89 ] PubSubClient arduino, atmelavr “Nick O'Leary": A client library for the Ethernet Shield that provides support for MQTT (extremely lightweight publish/subscribe messaging transport)

$ platformio lib install 89
# Installing [ 89 ]  library:
# Downloading  [####################################]  100%
# Unpacking  [####################################]  100%
# The library [ 89 ] ‘PubSubClient' has been successfully installed!

$ platformio lib show 89
# PubSubClient
# -------------
# Author: Nick O'Leary
# Keywords: /////////
# Frameworks: arduino
# Platforms: atmelavr
# Version: ***
#
# A client library for the Ethernet Shield that provides support for MQTT (extremely lightweight publish/subscribe messaging transport)

$ platformio lib update
# Updating PubSubClient  library:
# Versions: Current=***, Latest=***       [Up-to-date]

Does merging this mean that PlatformIO will update the library to the latest master? That'd be great.

I have no idea - @ivankravets, I assume by accepting this file, I'll also need to keep it in sync with the library.properties file when I cut new releases?
