Fix all issues with AI Agents 🤖
In @src/cli/factories/commandFactory.ts:
- Around line 1833-1841: The code auto-sets enhancedOptions.model to the alias
"veo-3.1", which will fail with Vertex AI; replace the alias with the full model
ID ("veo-3.1-generate-001") or call the existing ModelResolver.resolveModel(...)
before using enhancedOptions.model so the provider receives the resolved full
ID; update the branch that sets enhancedOptions.model and keep the logger.debug
call (options.debug / logger.debug) but log the resolved full model ID for
clarity.

In @src/lib/types/cli.ts:
- Around line 84-96: The GenerateCommandArgs video option keys are using
kebab-case while commandFactory.ts and other args use camelCase; update the type
in GenerateCommandArgs to use camelCase names (outputMode, videoOutput,
videoResolution, videoLength, videoAspectRatio, videoAudio) so they match how
the CLI parses and how commandFactory.ts references them, and ensure any code
constructing or reading GenerateCommandArgs uses these camelCase property names
consistently.

test/unit/utils/pdfProcessor.test.ts (1)

89-101: Test passes wrong format value.

The test claims to validate that "jpeg" format is accepted, but line 94 passes format: "png" instead. This appears to be a copy-paste error from the previous test.

🔎 Proposed fix
     it('should accept valid format "jpeg"', async () => {
       // This will fail during PDF processing, but should pass format validation
       // We're testing that the format validation doesn't reject "jpeg"
       try {
         await PDFProcessor.convertToImages(minimalPdfBuffer, {
-          format: "png",
+          format: "jpeg",
         });
       } catch (error) {
         // Should fail due to canvas/pdfjs dependencies or PDF processing issues,
         // not due to format validation
         expect((error as Error).message).not.toContain("Invalid format");
       }
     });
🧹 Nitpick comments (2)
src/lib/utils/pdfProcessor.ts (1)

150-150: Update documentation if format parameter becomes functional.

The documentation on lines 150, 297, and 403 specifically mentions "PNG images," which is consistent with the current implementation but inconsistent with the new format parameter that promises JPEG support. If the format parameter is made functional, update these references to reflect dynamic format selection.

Also applies to: 297-297, 403-403

src/cli/utils/videoFileUtils.ts (1)

104-124: Consider documenting the extension replacement behavior.

The function silently replaces the user-specified extension if it doesn't match the actual video format (e.g., user specifies .webm but video is video/mp4). This is correct behavior to ensure the extension matches the content, but users might not expect it. Consider adding a brief note in the JSDoc or returning information about the change.

config/models.json (1)

234-261: New Veo 3.1 model entry looks well-structured.

The model configuration follows the existing pattern and includes comprehensive video-specific metadata. The contextWindow: 1024 field semantics may differ for video models since they don't process text tokens in the traditional sense—consider adding a comment or documentation clarifying what this value represents for video generation (e.g., max prompt length).

src/lib/types/cli.ts (1)

411-412: LGTM!

The video property addition follows the same pattern as the existing audio property and properly references VideoGenerationResult from the multimodal types.

docs/features/video-generation.md (1)

36-36: Documentation properly reflects camelCase CLI option naming.

The CLI examples and arguments table correctly use camelCase option names (--outputMode, --videoOutput, --videoResolution, etc.) which align with the implementation in commandFactory.ts. Ensure the type definitions in src/lib/types/cli.ts are updated to match (currently using kebab-case).

Also applies to: 181-219

src/cli/factories/commandFactory.ts (6)

41-45: LGTM!

Clean import of video file utilities following the established pattern for audio utilities.

307-343: LGTM!

Video generation options are well-defined with appropriate types, choices, defaults, and descriptions. The camelCase naming is consistent with other CLI options.

696-755: LGTM!

The handleVideoOutput method follows the established pattern from handleTTSOutput, with proper null checks, error handling, and respect for quiet mode. The metadata summary display is a nice touch for user feedback.

934-942: LGTM!

CLI examples are comprehensive, demonstrating both basic and advanced video generation usage. The full options example correctly uses --model veo-3.1-generate-001.

1907-1924: LGTM!

The video output configuration is properly constructed conditionally for video mode, with appropriate type assertions matching the SDK's expected input structure.

1975-1984: LGTM!

Appropriate conditional handling: text output is skipped for video mode while the video-specific handler is called. Note that TTS output handling (line 1981) still runs in video mode—this is likely fine since video generation wouldn't produce TTS audio, but consider if a warning should be shown if both --tts and --outputMode video are specified together.

src/cli/utils/videoFileUtils.ts (5)

1-13: LGTM!

Well-structured module with clear documentation. The imports are minimal and appropriate for the file's purpose.

18-27: LGTM!

The VideoSaveResult type is appropriately defined locally since it's specific to this CLI utility module. Based on learnings, reusable/shared types go to src/lib/types/*.ts, but this CLI-specific type is fine here.

173-207: LGTM!

The saveVideoToFile function follows best practices with proper async/await usage, comprehensive error handling that returns a result object instead of throwing, and directory creation. The pattern aligns well with audioFileUtils.ts.

215-235: LGTM!

The type guard properly validates the required fields of VideoGenerationResult. The check for Buffer instance and valid mediaType values ensures runtime type safety.

243-269: LGTM!

Clean implementation with proper optional chaining for metadata fields. The pipe-separated summary format is readable and informative.

@Rahul-2903-juspay I've completed a comprehensive review of PR #749. Here's my analysis:

✅ Previous Issues - All Resolved

Issue 1: Model Resolution ✅ FIXED

The model alias "veo-3.1" is now properly resolved to the full model ID:

const modelAlias = "veo-3.1";
const resolvedModel = ModelResolver.resolveModel(modelAlias);
const fullModelId = resolvedModel?.id || "veo-3.1-generate-001";
enhancedOptions.model = fullModelId;

Issue 2: kebab-case vs camelCase ✅ FIXED

All video option types now consistently use camelCase:

  • ✅ outputMode, videoOutput, videoResolution, videoLength, videoAspectRatio, videoAudio
  • ✅ Consistent across cli.ts types, commandFactory.ts implementation, and documentation

Issue 3: Test Format Bug ✅ FIXED

The test now correctly passes format: "jpeg" instead of "png"

✅ Issue #745 Requirements - All Implemented

Requirement Status Evidence
CLI options (outputMode, videoOutput, etc.) ✅ Complete All 6 options defined in commandFactory.ts (lines 310-343)
buildGenerateOptions() video support ✅ Complete Video output configuration constructed conditionally (lines 1913-1928)
handleVideoOutput() function ✅ Complete Implemented at lines 701-755 with proper error handling
Proper logging/progress ✅ Complete Video-specific spinner ("🎬 Generating video...") and success messages
CLI documentation ✅ Complete Comprehensive docs/features/video-generation.md with examples
Model config ✅ Complete veo-3.1-generate-001 added to config/models.json

✅ Additional Implementation Quality Checks

Auto-disable Tools Logic

✅ Properly implemented (lines 1850-1868):

  • Tools automatically disabled in video mode
  • User warning displayed when tools are manually enabled
  • Debug logging for video mode configuration

User Experience

✅ Well-designed UX:

  • Video-specific spinner message: "🎬 Generating video... (this may take 1-2 minutes)"
  • Success message: "✅ Video generated successfully!"
  • File save confirmation with size info
  • Metadata summary display

Type Safety

✅ Proper TypeScript typing:

  • GenerateCommandArgs extended with video options

The validation (lines 337-344) accepts format: "jpeg" as valid, but the actual conversion at line 389 calls pdf(pdfBuffer, { scale }) without any format parameter. Since pdf-to-img v5.0.0 outputs PNG exclusively, users who specify format: "jpeg" will always receive PNG images. This breaks the API contract—the validation passes but the promised functionality is not delivered.

This is the same issue flagged in the previous review. While the comment on line 142 acknowledges the limitation, the code still accepts JPEG requests without implementing conversion.

🔎 Proposed fix: Remove JPEG from supported formats until implemented

Option 1: Remove JPEG support (recommended until implemented)

- /** Output format (png or jpeg, default: png). Note: pdf-to-img outputs PNG, JPEG conversion would require additional processing */
-  format?: "png" | "jpeg";
+ /** Output format (default: png). Note: Currently only PNG is supported; JPEG requires additional implementation */
+  format?: "png";
-    // 0. Validate format is supported and case-sensitive
-    const SUPPORTED_FORMATS = ["png", "jpeg"] as const;
+ // 0. Validate format is supported (currently PNG only)
+    const SUPPORTED_FORMATS = ["png"] as const;
     type SupportedFormat = (typeof SUPPORTED_FORMATS)[number];
     if (!SUPPORTED_FORMATS.includes(format as SupportedFormat)) {
       throw new Error(
-        `Invalid format: "${format}". Supported formats: "png", "jpeg".`,
+ `Invalid format: "${format}". Supported format: "png". JPEG support requires additional implementation.`,
       );
     }

Option 2: Implement JPEG conversion (if needed)

After line 404, add conversion logic:

// Convert PNG buffer to base64
let imageBuffer = page;

// If JPEG requested, convert PNG to JPEG
if (format === "jpeg") {
  const sharp = await import("sharp");
  imageBuffer = await sharp.default(page)
    .jpeg({ quality: 90 })
    .toBuffer();
}

const base64Image = imageBuffer.toString("base64");

Then add sharp to dependencies in package.json.

Based on learnings from previous review.

🧹 Nitpick comments (2)
test/unit/utils/pdfProcessor.test.ts (1)

89-101: Test suggests JPEG support but doesn't verify actual image format.

This test verifies that format: "jpeg" passes validation but doesn't verify that JPEG images are actually produced. Since JPEG conversion is not implemented in pdfProcessor.ts (line 389 always outputs PNG), this test creates a false sense of correctness.

Consider either:

  1. Skip/remove this test until JPEG conversion is implemented
  2. Update the test to verify the actual image format produced (though that would currently fail)
🔎 Option 1: Skip test until JPEG is implemented
-    it('should accept valid format "jpeg"', async () => {
+    it.skip('should accept valid format "jpeg"', async () => {
       // This will fail during PDF processing, but should pass format validation
- // We're testing that the format validation doesn't reject "jpeg"
+ // SKIPPED: JPEG conversion not yet implemented (pdf-to-img outputs PNG only)
       try {
         await PDFProcessor.convertToImages(minimalPdfBuffer, {
           format: "jpeg",
         });
       } catch (error) {
- // Should fail due to canvas/pdfjs dependencies or PDF processing issues,
- // not due to format validation
         expect((error as Error).message).not.toContain("Invalid format");
       }
     });

1809-1868: Well-implemented video mode configuration with appropriate safeguards.

Good design decisions:

  • Auto-disabling tools since Veo doesn't support function calling
  • Auto-setting provider to vertex with clear warning if user specified a different provider
  • Using ModelResolver.resolveModel() to properly resolve the veo-3.1 alias to full model ID (addresses previous review feedback)
  • Informative debug logging for video configuration

One minor suggestion: consider extracting this video mode configuration block into a separate helper method (e.g., configureVideoMode) to reduce the complexity of executeGenerate. This is optional since the current implementation works correctly.

Learning: RajuSudhar explained that in the Neurolink codebase, there are multiple ProviderConfig types causing inconsistency. One existing ProviderConfig type better suited the "ProviderConfig" name, so they renamed the less-suitable one to AIModelProviderConfig to free up the name. Adding backward compatibility aliases would worsen naming inconsistency rather than help. The remaining duplicates will be systematically deduplicated in the 07-Types-Module.md TODO as part of their phased refactor approach.

Learning: In juspay/neurolink TTS integration (PR #693), when options.provider is "auto" and passed to TTSProcessor.synthesize, it will fail automatically during handler lookup since only concrete providers ("google-ai", "vertex") are registered as TTS handlers. No explicit validation against "auto" is needed—the implicit failure at handler registration lookup is by design.

config/models.json (1)

234-261: LGTM! Well-structured video generation model entry.

The new veo-3.1-generate-001 model entry is complete with:

  • Correct aliases (veo-3.1, veo) for ModelResolver lookup
  • Appropriate video-specific capabilities
  • Comprehensive metadata including supported resolutions, durations, and aspect ratios

One minor point: the contextWindow: 1024 value seems low compared to other models. Video generation with Veo primarily uses image input + text prompt rather than large text contexts, so this may be intentional. Please verify this reflects the actual API limit.

src/lib/types/cli.ts (2)

84-96: LGTM! Video generation options properly typed.

The video generation options are well-defined with:

  • Consistent camelCase naming matching commandFactory.ts
  • Appropriate type constraints that align with model capabilities (720p/1080p, 4/6/8 seconds, 9:16/16:9)
  • Clear JSDoc comments for each option

411-412: LGTM! Video result type extension.

The dynamic import pattern import("./multimodal.js").VideoGenerationResult correctly avoids circular dependencies between type modules, following the coding guidelines for domain-organized type definitions.

src/cli/utils/videoFileUtils.ts (3)

1-13: LGTM! Well-structured video utilities module.

The module follows the established pattern from audioFileUtils.ts and provides comprehensive video file handling:

  • Proper async I/O with fs.promises
  • Secure path resolution with path.resolve
  • Robust error handling returning structured results
  • Complete JSDoc documentation

178-212: LGTM! Robust save implementation with proper error handling.

The saveVideoToFile function correctly:

  • Normalizes output path with extension validation
  • Creates parent directories if needed
  • Handles errors gracefully by returning a structured VideoSaveResult instead of throwing
  • Returns actual file size from stat() for accurate reporting

220-240: LGTM! Comprehensive type guard.

The isVideoGenerationResult type guard properly validates:

  • Object existence and type
  • Required data field is a Buffer
  • mediaType is one of the valid video MIME types
src/cli/factories/commandFactory.ts (4)

308-344: LGTM! Video generation options properly defined.

The CLI options are well-defined with:

  • Appropriate types and constraints matching the Veo model capabilities
  • Sensible defaults (720p, 4 seconds, 16:9, audio enabled)
  • Clear descriptions and alias (-vo for videoOutput)

697-756: LGTM! Video output handler follows established patterns.

The handleVideoOutput method correctly mirrors the TTS output handler pattern:

  • Early return when videoOutput is not specified
  • Proper type checking for result object
  • Clear warning when video is unavailable
  • Uses the new videoFileUtils for actual file operations
  • Displays metadata summary for user feedback

1912-1929: LGTM! Video output configuration correctly structured.

The conditional output configuration properly builds the video options object only when in video mode, with all fields properly typed to match the SDK's expected GenerateOptions.output structure.

1980-1989: LGTM! Output handling correctly differentiated by mode.

Proper separation of concerns:

  • Text output is skipped in video mode (line 1981-1983)
  • Video file saving is handled via handleVideoOutput (line 1989)
  • Both TTS and video output handlers are called, allowing multi-modal results in future

@Rahul-2903-juspay Understood! I appreciate the clarification. The format change in the pdfProcessor test was intentional for future use, not a bug fix.

Thanks for the context! 👍
