Thanks to the team for your work on this feature.

PLT discussed this PR and came to the conclusion that we will not merge it.

Joomla! 2.5 is in it's LTS state and thus doesn't accept new features. This one would be quite a big new feature.
It would be possible if it were a truly standalone extension which doesn't need changes in core to work. But the plugin needs multiple changes in the model, helper, config, view, layout and language files of com_installer.

We hope you understand those reasons.
