Smart Search: Edit search filter sliders and checkboxes not working

Steps to reproduce the issue

Components -> Smart Search -> Search filters.
Click on New to create a new filter.

Expected result

Should see a single top-level taxonomy branch list.
Clicking on one of the branch checkboxes should open the branch with a list of taxonomy items within that branch with a horizontal sliding motion.

Actual result

All taxonomy branch boxes are displayed at once and none of the checkboxes work.

Additional comments

"Empty string passed to getElementById()." in Firebug whenever a checkbox is clicked.

Fot those unfamiliar with Smart Search, you must first follow these steps:

1. Enable Smart Search plugin
2. Ensure you have content (ideally sample data)
3. Go to Smart Search and run the indexer

I can confirm the issue in 3.3.7-dev as below
