Real time junit is useful for large projects where tests take a long time, you see the results as they are published.
It doesn't have github checks support and would be nice if the junit plugin supported this natively

e.g. PR: jenkinsci/acceptance-test-harness#709

As of https://github.com/jenkinsci/junit-realtime-test-reporter-plugin/releases/tag/67.v6e77c106304b real time junit plugin supports checks, but it would be still nice to move it here
