Package.json metadata preserves checksums, idiomatic backends map npm, pnpm, Yarn, and Bun declarations, tarballs are downloaded and verified, SHA-224 and SHA-384 are supported, and documentation and end-to-end tests cover the behavior. Greptile SummaryThe PR adds Corepack-compatible package-manager checksum parsing and verification, selects the artifact-producing backend for checksummed declarations, and adds Windows support for modern Yarn’s JavaScript CLI.
Confidence Score: 5/5The PR appears safe to merge. No blocking failure remains; the previously reported declaration-pairing, Bun checksum-selection, and Windows Yarn launcher issues are addressed by the current code. Important Files Changed

from the same precedence-aware source: use devEngines.packageManager together

existing package-manager selection symbols, then add a regression test covering
conflicting devEngines.packageManager and packageManager declarations.

Note
Medium Risk
Changes package-manager install paths, checksum verification, and backend selection from package.json. Incorrect verification or backend pinning could install the wrong artifact.
Overview
mise now treats Corepack
+sha*suffixes inpackageManager/devEngines.packageManageras install checksums and verifies the matching artifact before install. When a checksum is present, npm/pnpm/Yarn Classic/bun install from the npm registry tarball; Yarn 2+ uses Yarn’s published CLI via the HTTP backend. Explicit backend resolution is preserved so aliases cannot swap the verified source. SHA-224 and SHA-384 hashing is added for those suffixes.
The HTTP backend can emit a Windows
.cmdlauncher (windows_script_interpreter) so Yarn’s JS CLI runs on Windows. Docs drop the Corepack hook example and describe using mise as a Corepack replacement, including idiomaticpackage.jsondiscovery.Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit d45ea54.
