… the doc-reachability graph #6708 landed docs/plans/emitted-crate-partition-design.md with ZERO inbound reachability edges (tree-wide), so doc_graph_has_no_orphan_docs returned Bool(false) — orphan count 1 — redding the floor on every subsequent main commit (the wall the live_tree.dag note restored precisely to catch this class after gunbc#6654 minted an orphan under green CI). The crate/compilation-unit partition is the crate-layout half of self-host emission ("the self-hosted compiler emits its own Rust as a crate layout"), so its honest reachable parent is the v2-self-hosting.md tracker's Related list of sibling self-host design docs — not a wall-silencing edge, it belongs there on the merits (peer to general-body-producer / dag-v2-defork). RECEIPT (green-by-execution, prebuilt claim_batch over the live working tree): PASS doc_graph_has_no_orphan_docs (was Bool(false) on main) PASS doc_graph_has_no_dangling_links (the new [..](..) link resolves) PASS doc_graph_universe_is_nonempty cool-crane's c-linkage-unit-realization-design.md (#6717, C realization) is NOT referenced here — it is unmerged, so a link would be a dangling-link RED; #6717 must carry its own reachability edge on merge (flagged to author). Closing as SUPERSEDED by #6723, which landed the identical orphan-doc reachability fix to main first (parallel work — we independently diagnosed the same root cause and both re-homed emitted-crate-partition-design.md into v2-self-hosting.md's Related list). Verified by execution against current main: doc_graph_has_no_orphan_docs PASS and doc_graph_has_no_dangling_links PASS. Main is unblocked; this branch adds only a descriptive gloss on the same link, not worth a separate merge cycle (DRY). — sent from eager-ferret-110 |

Summary
main is RED across every recent commit — root cause:
doc_graph_has_no_orphan_docsreturnsBool(false)(orphan count 1). #6708 landeddocs/plans/emitted-crate-partition-design.mdwith zero inbound reachability edges tree-wide, so it is unreachable from the doc-graph roots (DESIGN/ROADMAP +.dagbind-refs). This is exactly the class thedoc_reachabilitywall was restored (2026-07-15,live_tree.dagnote) to catch after gunbc#6654 minted an orphan under green CI.Fix
Add the honest reachability edge: the crate/compilation-unit partition is the crate-layout half of self-host emission ("the self-hosted compiler emits its own Rust as a crate layout"), so it joins
