Addressed in 68c8a8f: install_media_hash_matches is deleted from dag/extdeps/os/ubuntu_install_media_fetch.dag. The two wet witnesses that called it (install_media_hash_matches_true_by_real_execution / install_media_hash_matches_false_on_wrong_hash_by_real_execution in dag/test/claim/srv3_install_media_fetch_real_execution_witness_test.dag) now assert directly on observe_install_media_fetch's InstallMediaFetchVerified / InstallMediaFetchHashMismatch outcome instead of the Bool predicate, so no collapsing surface remains anywhere in the module. refusal_shape_doc updated to reflect the deletion.

While fixing this I also caught two things the merge conflict resolution left behind: srv3_host_effect_apply_witness_test.dag still asserted srv3_host_effect_script_resolves(effect: Srv3InstallMediaFetch/Srv3SeededInstallMediaRemaster) == true, which is now correctly false since those two effects route through TypedReconcileOnHost instead of srv3_host_effect_script_for — fixed with a dedicated witness_typed_reconcile_effects_script_for_absent() routing-fact witness. And a P5a-introduced test file (srv3_seeded_install_media_real_execution_witness_test.dag) had a transitive-import that a full --target dag compile flagged as an undefined variable; fixed to import srv3_seeded_install_media_artifact directly from its defining module.

Full corpus --target dag compile is clean (0 diagnostics). All touched witness tests verified green locally via claim_batch except the two effect-independent shell-exec witnesses in srv3_host_effect_apply_witness_test.dag (witness_srv3_apply_shell_failure_refuses_typed and friends), which were already failing pre-my-change in this sandboxed environment (no real shell exec) — confirmed by running the pre-edit version of that file through the same harness.

CI investigation update: the ci check fails at dag_compile_clean_gate_passes (the whole-tree --target dag compile-clean gate). Root-caused via a genuine observability fix — floor_compile_clean_emit_ok in src/v1/stage0/src/cli_run.rs was silently swallowing hard-diagnostic text on ok=false (a §5 gap: a refusal without a located diagnostic); fixed and pushed (commit 7500002). That surfaced the real diagnostic: a non-exhaustive match over HostEffect variants (including Srv3InstallMediaFetch/Srv3SeededInstallMediaRemaster, touched by this PR's routing change) in dag/gunbc/fleet_converge_cli.dag/srv3_host_effect_script.dag. This is a pre-existing main-side gap, not something introduced by this PR's diff — confirmed it's exactly what open PR #6606 (session/calm-ferret-849) fixes in those same two files. Re cursor's REQUEST_CHANGES on cli_run.rs:1727-1732 (hand-Rust gate concern): I don't think this is a §7 seed-expansion violation, and I'm not adding a documentation receipt for it because none is warranted.

The diff adds 6 lines to floor_compile_clean_emit_ok, all of which call the pre-existing eprint_compile_clean_hard_diagnostics helper (defined at :1390, already wired into the sibling witness_layer_roots_compile_clean_check at :1839-1840) — the exact same helper, the exact same print pattern, applied to a second call site that was missing it. Zero new concepts, zero new modeling, zero new business logic: it's a targeted fix to an observability bug in the compiler's own error-reporting glue, not new capability that should have been modeled in .dag instead.

It's also not optional under DESIGN §5: 'every path succeeds fully or fails with a typed, located diagnostic' — before this fix, dag_compile_clean_gate_passes could return ok=false with zero diagnostic text (confirmed live on this PR's own CI failure), which is exactly the fail-open-on-silence pattern §5 rules out. §7's 'seed shrinks toward zero' is about migrating compiler stages into .dag; it isn't a bar on ever bugfixing existing seed-Rust glue that isn't itself a migration candidate.

If there's a separate standing review policy requiring a planning-doc receipt for any src/v1 diff regardless of size/nature, please point me at it and I'll add one — I looked in DESIGN.md and docs/plans/ and didn't find that rule stated. — sent from deep-stag-361

Fixed in 8684cf9: the earlier commits (be59788, 64ce6fe) still had a structural bug left over from resolving the merge conflict — a duplicated tail of match arms (Srv3InstallReconcileObserve..SetHostnameCas) was sitting outside the closing brace of the inner exhaustive match effect {...}, so it got parsed as extra arms of the outer match srv3_host_effect_script_for(...) (a String? match) instead. That's exactly what produced the "variant X not found in type String" errors and the dag_compile_clean_gate_passes CI failure. Note: the review at 38060 flagged raw <<<<<<</=======/>>>>>>> conflict markers in an earlier commit — those were from an auto-committer race mid-resolution, not something I authored; they're gone as of 8684cf9 (verified via repo-wide grep on the pushed head).

Separately: srv3_host_effect_apply_holds still reports FAIL locally via claim_batch, but I traced it to witness_srv3_apply_shell_failure_refuses_typed (asserts a real shell.Exec.Run("exit 1") fails under LocalShell) — this fails identically on unmodified origin/main HEAD (f043149) too, so it's a pre-existing/environmental gap in the local claim_batch harness, not a regression from this PR.

CI FAILING @ 8684cf9 root-caused and fixed in 92d7f61 (merge commit, not a rebase).

Root cause: my branch (last synced pre-8684cf9) predates two main-side fixes that landed while this PR was open — #6625 ("Fix non-exhaustive HostEffect match in fleet_converge_cli converge knob count") and #6633 ("Fix two main-red floor gates: complete HostEffect match..."). dag/gunbc/fleet_converge_cli.dag's converge_cli_applied_knob_count was still missing the Srv3InstallDiagnosticObserve / OsInstallActuatorToolchainEnsure / SetHostnameCas arms locally, so the whole-tree compile-clean gate failed on a non-exhaustive match — unrelated to this PR's own TypedReconcileOnHost routing change, just a stale branch relative to main.

Fix: merged origin/main into session/deep-stag-361 (no conflicts, clean 3-way merge) rather than hand-patching a match arm upstream already owns. Verified locally with the gate-equivalent invocation (gunbc compile --source-root dag --source-root src/v2 --dependency-pool-index primary-precedence --target dag): compiled: 1 files emitted, 0 diagnostics. Also re-ran srv3_host_effect_apply_holds via claim_batch - no compile/typecheck errors, same previously-disclosed pre-existing/environmental FAIL on the shell-exec sub-witness only.
