1. .dag is the authority — the same parents |> take(n: count - 1) recursion is in src/v1/04_sigs.dag; the Rust is generated faithfully from that spec. Fixing the complexity here without a .dag-level list-trimming/index primitive would fork the representation (§3 nicknaming trap).

2. Depth is bounded in practice — ResolvedFuncEnv.parents mirrors the import-scope chain (one link per import edge in merge_scope_from_imports), not an unbounded user list. Corpus import depth is shallow (typically single-digit); lookup runs at typecheck time on maps that are small at each hop. The −243 MiB dsl+src/v2 floor measurement vs baseline shows this path is not a binding memory/cost regression on the live shard.

3. Correctness is covered — func_env_scope_chain_test (shadowing, last-import-wins, dropped-parent RED) + Oracle 4 semantic-equivalence fingerprint gate the behavior independent of walk cost.

Follow-on (out of Item 4 scope): when a grounded list-trimming or index-at primitive lands in std, fold lookup_in_parent_chain to O(depth) in .dag and regen — same Realization pattern as other list ops.
