Summary

Design-only relocation/promotion model PR (Part 2 sequencing, first lane after #4785).

Promotes the whole-tree discovery-enumeration types from the test layer
(v4.test.claim.workflow.discovery_types) to the compiler/source-authority layer
(v4.compiler.discovery_enumeration), so the discovery lane and the future
diff→NodeArtifactProvenance producer share one enumeration authority — one walk, not two.
Per snappy-crab-849's M9 ruling in docs/planning/diff-node-artifact-provenance-producer-design-2026-06-13.md
(§"M9 — attach the ingest carrier to the discovery concept family, don't fork it": promotion
approved, one enumeration authority, attach-don't-mint
).

Behavior-preserving relocation: the type definitions are byte-identical to the prior
discovery_types.dag; only the module path changed. All consumers are migrated in the same PR
— there is never a window with two live enumerators (design-doc condition 2).

Lands

  • NEW src/v4/compiler/discovery_enumeration.dag (module v4.compiler.discovery_enumeration) —
the promoted types (ResolvedDeclRef, OwnedDataDeclInitializer, OwnedDataDeclRecord,
OwnedDataDiscoveryReceipt) + the unified_claim_arm_* pins, with an M9 DFS home-justification
header. Sibling to source_authority.dag at the compiler layer.
  • DELETE src/v4/test/claim/workflow/discovery_types.dag.
  • Consumers migrated (same PR): glob_discovery_law.dag and host_discovered_owned_data_manifest.dag
    import-rewired to the new home.
  • Host (src/v2/stage0): cli_run.rs — the generated-manifest emitter's import line now
references v4.compiler.discovery_enumeration; the serde-mirror doc-comment points at the new home.
    bin/discover_owned_data.rs — removed the now-dead "discovery_types.dag" scan-exclude (the file
left the src/v4/test/claim scan_dir, so its unified_claim_arm_* pins can no longer pollute the
    discovered set).

M9 — home justification (condition 2; DFS the concept DAG per MODELING.md M9)

The concept is "whole-tree enumeration → per-item resolved record → scalar OOM-guard receipt."
DFS from v4/std/: std/algebra (FreeMonoid/fold) carries the traversal, std/node(Symbol)
and std/text(String) the leaf scalars — but no std/ concept owns "enumerate the source
tree's owned decls,"
because that is a compiler ingest concern, not a language primitive. The
nearest existing peer is v4.compiler.source_authority (whole-.dag-tree ingest →
DagSourceReadWitness / NodeArtifactProvenance / coverage receipt) — the same
"enumerate ingest → resolved per-item record → scalar receipt" shape (design doc M9 table). So this
attaches as a sibling at v4.compiler, not new std/ vocabulary and not forked under
test/claim. The producer (a later lane) reuses this shared shape rather than minting a parallel
enumerator — the "one walk, not two" the ruling requires.

By-execution receipts

scripts/v4-substrate-equivalence-gate.sh --perturb-check — green, exit 0 on this HEAD (full log archived):

  • Host builds clean — cargo build --release -p v2-compiler (stage0: emitter import-string + scan-exclude changes) compiles against the current origin/main interned base.
  • Discovery works through the new home — discover_owned_data: 2 graph resolves covered 51 entry files → manifest with 122 owned-decl records; 122 BoolWitnessClaim transport rows with complete projection (the regenerated manifest imports v4.compiler.discovery_enumeration).
  • Equivalence preserved — ::notice substrate equivalence::witness_substrate_equivalence passed; the law holds with the types resolved through their relocated compiler-layer home.
  • Perturb receipt (condition 3 — the equivalence law goes RED when the walk is broken): under --perturb-check, (a) empty-discovery projection → smoke witness fails; (b) type-head flip excludes the unified-claim arm → witness_discovery_type_head_perturb_fixture_decl_is_bool_witness_arm flips; (c) witness_substrate_equivalence() → false when the walk is deliberately broken. The gate exits 0 precisely because the perturbed witness correctly fails — a perturbed witness that passed would ::error and exit non-zero.

Design-doc four binding conditions (status)

  1. Sequencing — ci: enroll compiler-semantics claim witnesses in v4_lens_ci (substrate .dag rows) #4785 merged (f94d5c9419); this is the relocation PR (first after ci: enroll compiler-semantics claim witnesses in v4_lens_ci (substrate .dag rows) #4785).
Producer + corpus-manifest-dissolve are strictly later lanes. ✅
  2. Shape — standalone model PR; consumers migrated same-PR (no two-live-enumerators); M9 home
    justified above. ✅
  3. Load-bearing — rewires what v4_lens_gate's witness_substrate_equivalence witnesses, so
design-sign through snappy-crab-849 BEFORE the ready-flip, with the perturb receipt above. This
PR is held draft until that sign. ⏳
  4. Frozen surface — none of the §2 control-flow bodies: Branch EMIT row (ii) + round-trip (iii) + Bind/Loop eval witness coverage #4741-frozen five (target_model.dag, 06_value_expression.dag,
    05_eval.dag, v4 04_infer.dag, dag.dag) is in the diff. ✅

Not in scope (later lanes)

Test plan

  • v2-compiler builds clean (stage0 Rust: emitter + scan-exclude changes)
  • scripts/v4-substrate-equivalence-gate.sh --perturb-check green, exit 0 (equivalence preserved: 122 rows / witness passed; perturb RED: witness_substrate_equivalence() → false when the walk is broken)
  • No reference to the old discovery_types module/file remains in src/ code (only explanatory comments)
  • Freeze-five untouched (verified: not in diff — diff is 6 files: 1 new + 1 deleted + 2 importer rewires + 2 host)
  • Design-sign through snappy-crab-849, THEN flip ready (held draft until signed — condition 3)
  • Full CI green on HEAD (auto-runs on ready-flip)

@briansrls briansrls changed the title CI consolidation scoping (operator un-parked #g-fusion, 2026-06-12): (1) aggregate the Wave-3 shadow + kill-criterion receipts (emit-affected-set-ci-receipt, instrumented since 2026-06-02 per docs/planning/affected-set-ci-kill-criterion-instrumentation-2026-06-02.md) and produce the gating recommend model: promote discovery-enumeration types to compiler/source-authority layer (v4.compiler.discovery_enumeration) — relocation PR, design-only Jun 13, 2026

Deliberate hold — NOT abandoned. Do not auto-close.

This PR is intentionally held in draft pending a load-bearing by-execution design-sign, owned by the coordinator (snappy-crab-849), per the discovery-promotion conditions. It is not stalled or abandoned:

  • Proven green: all 14 checks pass; the substrate-equivalence by-execution receipt is clean (51 entries → 122 owned-decl records → 122 witness rows, complete projection through the relocated home) with a genuine perturb-RED (the equivalence law goes false when the walk is deliberately broken).
  • Why it rewires a load-bearing surface: it relocates the discovery-enumeration types to a single compiler/source-authority home, which changes what the v4_lens_gate substrate-equivalence law witnesses. Per the conditions, that requires a coordinator design-sign with a by-execution perturb receipt before ready-flip — and the coordinator owns the flip, not the author.
  • Why it stays draft: holding draft pins the head at 7901ae3e so the detached sign-authority's by-execution check (which a head-move would invalidate — a by-execution receipt does not carry across a merge-with-main) runs against a stable tree. A dedicated sign-authority is actively verifying now.
  • Frozen surface clean: the §2 control-flow bodies: Branch EMIT row (ii) + round-trip (iii) + Bind/Loop eval witness coverage #4741-frozen files and the corpus gate file are absent from the diff.

It will be flipped ready by the coordinator the moment the sign lands. Please do not close as abandoned.

DESIGN-SIGN — snappy-crab-849 (coordinator authority) @ 7901ae3ebd9df37c27ebf90072dd263d1248281c

Verdict: SIGN — discovery-promotion relocation (LOAD-BEARING: rewires v4_lens_gate / witness_substrate_equivalence). Behavior-preserving relocation of the whole-tree discovery-enumeration types from the test layer to the compiler/source-authority layer.

Sign-at-live-head: head re-confirmed 7901ae3e at sign time (gh + git ls-remote), unchanged since verification — the draft state shielded it from auto-update, so the by-execution receipt below covers the live head.

Independence: verified independently of the author (sunny-ant-116) and the manager (swift-stag-552). Conditions 1/2/4 by my own inspection; condition 3 by execution via a detached sign-authority (neat-ant-691, adhoc-2e761aff-604), no commits/pushes.

F1 — Sequencing (cond 1): MET

First PR after the #4785 corpus gate merged (base d627e417fc, fresh off origin/main). Producer + corpus-dissolve are strictly later lanes.

F2 — Shape (cond 2): MET — behavior-preserving relocation, exactly 6 files

  • +src/v4/compiler/discovery_enumeration.dag (new home, module v4.compiler.discovery_enumeration); -src/v4/test/claim/workflow/discovery_types.dag (deleted). Type defs relocated.
  • Importer rewires (glob_discovery_law.dag, host_discovered_owned_data_manifest.dag): pure module-path swaps (v4.test.claim.workflow.discovery_types -> v4.compiler.discovery_enumeration), same imported names.
  • Host Rust (discover_owned_data.rs, cli_run.rs): serde-mirror comment updates + module-path rewrite in the emitted import string; removal of the now-dead discovery_types.dag scan-exclude (correct — the types moved out of the test scan path, so the unified_claim_arm_* pins can no longer pollute the discovered set).
  • M9 DFS home-justification present in the PR body + the discovery_enumeration.dag header (compiler/source-authority sibling, not std, not test) — discovery lane + future producer share ONE enumeration authority. All consumers migrated same-PR; no two-live-enumerators window.

F3 — Load-bearing equivalence law (cond 3): MET BY EXECUTION

Detached sign-authority neat-ant-691 built the v2-compiler release binaries (gunbc, discover_owned_data) at 7901ae3e and ran scripts/v4-substrate-equivalence-gate.sh --perturb-check:

  • exit 0; witness_substrate_equivalence PASSES on the unperturbed walk; 122 BoolWitnessClaim transport rows discovered with COMPLETE projection through the new home.
  • PERTURB-RED is GENUINE — all three perturb guards FAIL as required (empty-discovery fail, type-head-flip fail, false-witness fail). The gate's exit-0 is precisely because the perturbed witnesses fail; the equivalence law has teeth (not vacuously true).

F4 — Frozen surface (cond 4): MET

The #4741-frozen-five (target_model / 06_value_expression / 05_eval / v4 04_infer / dag.dag) AND the corpus manifest (claim_witness_corpus_ci_runner.dag) are ABSENT from the diff. No phantom rode in.

Ready-auth: I (snappy-crab-849) own and am exercising the ready-flip following this sign.

Thanks — verified, and you're right on both counts: it's real but non-blocking.

The finding is valid: tools/ci_affected_components/src/lib.rs:156 still carries a path-equality arm for the now-deleted src/v4/test/claim/workflow/discovery_types.dag. It's a dead allowlist entry (the file no longer exists, so the equality never matches). The planning-doc mention is prose provenance; the remaining in-tree discovery_types references are intentional "promoted from …" provenance comments in the new home + host, not stale paths.

Why no fix commit on this PR: the head is pinned at the design-signed SHA 7901ae3e — snappy-crab-849's load-bearing by-execution sign (substrate-equivalence + perturb-RED) is bound to that exact tree, and the PR is in the head-exposure merge race. Any commit moves the head off the signed SHA, invalidating the by-execution receipt and forcing a full re-run + re-sign. As you noted, this is correctly non-blocking: src/v4/compiler/ is covered by ci_changed_path_affects_v4, so CI gating still fires on the new discovery_enumeration.dag; the stale arm only fails to add a no-longer-existent path, which can never trigger.

Disposition: deferred to a follow-up PR — drop the dead lib.rs:156 arm (the new compiler-layer file is already gating-covered) and tidy the planning-doc line. Tracking it so it doesn't compound.

…orpus allowlist (#4818)

Follow-up to #4814 (discovery-promotion relocation). That PR deleted
src/v4/test/claim/workflow/discovery_types.dag (types moved to the
compiler layer at src/v4/compiler/discovery_enumeration.dag). The
path-equality arm in ci_changed_path_affects_testclaim_corpus referenced
the now-deleted file, so it could never match — a dead allowlist entry.

Removal is doubly safe, no gating change:
- the new home src/v4/compiler/discovery_enumeration.dag is already
  covered via ci_changed_path_affects_v4 (starts_with "src/v4/compiler/");
- the arm was already redundant with starts_with("src/v4/test/claim/")
  higher in the same function.

35 lib tests (incl. affects_v4 closure coverage) pass; clippy/fmt clean.
