Summary

Python RCA L1 mypy structural fixture-scale receipts (Worksheet B, #4137 §11.8): modeled mypy.dag profile, python_l1_static_mypy_fixture in the lens, fail-closed host runner, planning worksheet, and boundary/SG-0 ratchet wired into tests/integration.rs.

Test plan

  • ./scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh — PROVEN locally
  • cargo test -p v3-compiler --test integration v4_leaf_model_python_l1_static — pass
  • cargo test -p v3-compiler --test integration sg0_v3_test_hand_authored_subratchet — pass
  • CI: ci_floor on PR

SG-0 hand-path delta: +1

SG-0 pairing: (c) Net +1 on EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST for v4_leaf_model_python_l1_static_receipts_test.rs (INVARIANTS §P5(b) Python RCA L1 static structural pyright/mypy fixture-scale receipts per docs/planning/v4-python-rca-manager-worksheets-2026-06-01.md Worksheet B / #4137 §11.8; pairs with scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-static-verify.sh and scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh). Follow-up dispatch: retire when modeled verification exercises src/v4/test/claim/language_model/python_l1_static.dag without this hand-Rust bridge — #4223.

Addressed cursor/composer-2.5 REQUEST_CHANGES in 5b7f7e69 follow-up:

  1. Profile consumption — v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh now reads strict and show_error_codes from mypy_profile_l1 and builds CLI flags from those fields (no hardcoded --strict --show-error-codes).
  2. Fixture diagnostic authority — the runner reads diagnostic_code from python_l1_static_mypy_fixture_pair in the lens and resolves the bracket code via mypy_diagnostic_codes keyed by that symbol (same pattern as pyright’s fixture → pyright_diagnostic_rules map).

Local receipt still PROVEN after the change.

Addressed codex/codex-default REQUEST_CHANGES (P5 / v3 hand-Rust gate):

  • v4_leaf_model_python_l1_static_receipts_test.rs — added explicit INVARIANTS.md §P5 deferral naming ROADMAP.md ### Nine lanes row T-PB-B / pb_rust_tests_outside_residual_zero, TASKS.md T-22/T-38, lane context (docs(planning): v4 dep graph Jun 1 EOD — post-cascade snapshot #4137 §11.8 Python RCA L1 static), dissolution trigger (python_l1_static.dag + static profiles via modeled run_target_verification), and same-PR SG-0 census literal pointer.
  • sg0_census_test.rs — matching P5 receipt block on the EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST entry (same pattern as co-listed v4_leaf_model_rust_r1_rustc_test.rs).

Addressed codex/codex-default REQUEST_CHANGES (non-checkable P5 citations) — valid finding.

Public-tree ROADMAP.md no longer carries ### Nine lanes / T-PB-B / pb_rust_tests_outside_residual_zero, and there is no TASKS.md (or src/v4/TASKS.md) on origin/main. Repointed the P5 receipt in both v4_leaf_model_python_l1_static_receipts_test.rs and the matching sg0_census_test.rs entry to in-tree, one-hop checkable authorities:

  • Lane: docs/planning/v4-python-rca-manager-worksheets-2026-06-01.md Worksheet B (docs(planning): v4 dep graph Jun 1 EOD — post-cascade snapshot #4137 §11.8)
  • SG-0 T-PB-B: sg0_census_test.rs module doc + tests/boundary/README.md registration rule + EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST +1 path (this PR)
  • Dissolution: src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag:291 (run_target_verification) + python_l1_static.dag

BLOCKING (1)

Root Cause

  • docs/planning/v4-python-rca-manager-worksheets-2026-06-01.md Worksheet B is introduced as the deferral authority without tying the host-Rust bridge to the concrete roadmap row that owns its dissolution → cite the owning _internal/ROADMAP_OPS.md row/link in the P5 receipt.

⚠️ One checkable P5 receipt gap blocks the new hand-authored Rust boundary test.

Already addressed on b2292ba405 (current 047e3e5d). This thread predates the disposition-(2) fix.

The boundary test P5 block (lines 8–15) now cites PR-template disposition (2): same-PR EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST 168 → 169 (sg0_census_test.rs), T-PB-B partition (module doc + tests/boundary/README.md), in-tree worksheet Worksheet B as workstream detail, and dissolution over python_l1_static.dag.

_internal/ROADMAP_OPS.md is not in the public tree (git ls-tree origin/main empty), so disposition (3) row-cite is not one-hop checkable here. codex/codex-default APPROVE on 047e3e5d explicitly accepted this receipt shape alongside claude + cursor.

Addressed blocking P5 review on v4_leaf_model_python_l1_static_receipts_test.rs:9:

  • P5 receipt now cites _internal/ROADMAP_OPS.md § Nine lanes row T-PB-B / pb_rust_tests_outside_residual_zero as the owning dissolution lane (with ROADMAP.md pointer note), plus _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md Mechanism (b) row and same-PR EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST 166 → 167 census delta.
  • Matching sg0_census_test.rs entry updated to the same ROADMAP_OPS deferral block.
  • Worksheet B remains workstream detail under that row, not the sole deferral authority.

Addressed codex/codex-default REQUEST_CHANGES (valid): _internal/ROADMAP_OPS.md and _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md are not present in this tree (git ls-tree origin/main / PR head).

Fix: P5 receipt now uses only in-tree, one-hop authorities:

  • .github/PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md disposition (2) — EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST 166 → 167 (same-PR sg0_census_test.rs literal)
  • T-PB-B partition: sg0_census_test.rs module doc + tests/boundary/README.md
  • Lane: docs/planning/v4-python-rca-manager-worksheets-2026-06-01.md Worksheet B (docs(planning): v4 dep graph Jun 1 EOD — post-cascade snapshot #4137 §11.8)
  • Dissolution: python_l1_static.dag + leaf_model_verification.dag gated note

Added scripts/ci-merge/sg0-pr-body-append.4223.txt for SG-0 pairing CI.

cursor/composer-2.5 APPROVE on prior HEAD — still aligned; no further code change beyond receipt citations.

Addressed codex/codex-default REQUEST_CHANGES (b2292ba405) — finding valid.

_internal/ROADMAP_OPS.md and _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md are not in the public tree (git ls-tree origin/main / PR head both empty). Citing them as the sole deferral authority is not one-hop checkable under the v3 hand-Rust / P5 gate.

Fix: P5 receipt now uses PR-template disposition (2) only — EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST 168 → 169 (literal in sg0_census_test.rs), T-PB-B partition (sg0_census_test.rs module doc + tests/boundary/README.md), workstream docs/planning/v4-python-rca-manager-worksheets-2026-06-01.md Worksheet B, and dissolution over python_l1_static.dag. ⚠️ The two previously flagged P5 receipt gaps are still unresolved; I found no additional blocking concerns.

Re codex schedule @ 047e3e5d (“two previously flagged P5 receipt gaps still unresolved”):

Those gaps refer to stale inline threads (ROADMAP_OPS-only deferral) filed before b2292ba405. On current HEAD both sites use PR-template disposition (2) with in-tree checkable cites (census 168→169, T-PB-B partition, Worksheet B workstream detail, dissolution trigger). Replied on both inline threads.

No additional blocking concerns aligns with current review state: codex + claude + cursor APPROVE on 047e3e5d, CI green, MERGEABLE/CLEAN. Holding for operator merge per policy.

Addressed codex/codex-default REQUEST_CHANGES (fa3f810f75) — finding valid.

scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-static-verify.sh is not on origin/main or PR head (deleted in #4252 script hygiene; landed via #4158 then removed). This PR’s checkable host bridge is Worksheet B only: scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh.

Fix: P5 receipt sites (boundary test, sg0_census_test.rs, sg0-pr-body-append.4223.txt) now pair the +1 path with the mypy runner only; pyright remains in-tree .dag authority (Worksheet A runner called out as absent in the worksheet doc).

Addressed codex/codex-default REQUEST_CHANGES (both findings valid):

  1. Hermetic runner — removed venv/pip/get-pip network bootstrap from v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh. Runner now requires pre-provisioned mypy on PATH whose --version matches mypy_profile_l1 (fail-closed MISS if unavailable; same policy class as pyright’s pinned-tool consumption).

  2. Claim authority — added python_l1_static_mypy_fixture_pair_wired, claim_python_l1_static_mypy_fixture_pair_wired, python_l1_static_mypy_expected_verdicts_wired, and claim_python_l1_static_mypy_expected_verdicts_wired in python_l1_static.dag (Worksheet B uses python_l1_static_mypy_fixture + mypy profile/tool ids). Boundary test now asserts both pyright and mypy claim rows.

1. Story of the diff

This PR adds a mypy-backed companion lane for the existing Python L1 static structural return-type fixture. It records the release-minimum plan in a worksheet, models mypy as its own extdeps profile/diagnostic namespace, wires a mypy fixture pair into src/v4/lens/leaf_model_verification.dag, and adds TestClaim coverage proving that the mypy happy case accepts while the falsification case rejects with mypy_diag_return_value. It also adds a shell receipt runner that extracts the fixture/profile facts from .dag, runs CPython compile/runtime to prove those authorities miss the bug, then runs mypy to prove the static authority catches it. Because the runner is still a host/Rust bridge, the PR also wires a boundary receipt test into the v3 integration binary and records the SG-0 hand-authored-test census delta with a named dissolution trigger. chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL (substrate vs implementation).

Compliant — the diff touches v4 modeling surface, but not core substrate storage or dag.rs; the new MypyConfig/MypyDiagnosticCode live under src/v4/extdeps/typecheckers/mypy.dag, import only std/, and are consumed through the existing LeafModelPythonStaticFixturePair/TargetStaticAnalysisVerdict surface rather than adding a new substrate connective or behavior (src/v4/extdeps/typecheckers/mypy.dag:8-49, src/v4/lens/leaf_model_verification.dag:872-891). chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

  1. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md.

Finding — scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh:139: P2 Boundary Discipline / single authority. The runner correctly extracts mypy_version, python_version, strict, show_error_codes, and mypy_expected_code from the modeled .dag profile, but then invokes mypy without pinning a config file. By default, mypy searches for config files by walking up from the current directory and then checks user-level config locations unless --config-file is supplied, so repo or user config can become a second authority for this receipt. That undercuts the script’s own “single authority” claim from mypy_profile_l1; generate/pass an explicit scratch config derived from the modeled profile, or an intentionally empty scratch config plus model-derived CLI flags, so ambient config cannot participate. chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

mypy

  1. CODING.md.

Finding — scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh:139: explicit dependencies. Mypy configuration is an expressive dependency of the receipt, but this invocation leaves part of that dependency implicit in cwd/HOME-discovered config rather than modeling or passing it. The script should make the full mypy configuration surface explicit at the call site; otherwise the function reads hidden state from the host environment, contrary to CODING’s explicit-dependency rule. chatgpt-review-b4752c22-ff93-46…

chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

  1. TESTING.md.

Finding — scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh:139: hermetic-first boundary receipt. The new boundary/static receipt is intended to prove exactly the .dag-modeled L1 mypy profile, but ambient mypy config makes the test result host-dependent. This is a merge-blocking hermeticity issue because a local mypy.ini, .mypy.ini, pyproject.toml, setup.cfg, or user config can change the runner’s verdict without any diff change. Pin the config to a scratch file before merge; using a scratch cache directory would also keep the receipt cleaner, but the blocking issue is the unpinned config authority. chatgpt-review-a1181320-3479-4a…

chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

mypy

  1. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS.

N/A — the diff does not alter locked design docs or introduce a substrate extension; it adds a bounded extdeps/static-analysis receipt lane and records the temporary hand-Rust bridge separately.

  1. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT.

Compliant — the new hand-authored Rust boundary receipt is documented, bounded, and given a dissolution trigger: the module doc names the P5 receipt and deletion condition, sg0_census_test.rs records EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST 171 → 172 with the same dissolution, and sg0-pr-body-append.4223.txt repeats the follow-up dispatch to retire the bridge when modeled verification exercises python_l1_static.dag directly (src/v3/compiler/tests/boundary/v4_leaf_model_python_l1_static_receipts_test.rs:10-17, src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:432-440, scripts/ci-merge/sg0-pr-body-append.4223.txt:3). chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Finding — docs/planning/v4-python-rca-manager-worksheets-2026-06-01.md:28 vs scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh:139. The worksheet defines the mypy lane as a narrow structural receipt: the same fixture/claim id as Worksheet A, distinct mypy tool/profile namespace, expected return-value under --strict --show-error-codes, and intentionally weaker than a full Python semantic verifier. But the runner’s unpinned mypy invocation allows ambient config to participate, which can make the lane look like it proved the modeled L1 profile when the host config helped shape the verdict. That semantically dilutes the PM intent of “fixture-scale structural evidence from the modeled profile,” even if the diff’s .dag modeling is otherwise aligned. chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

chatgpt-review-e266f599-515b-48…

mypy

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES. The modeled mypy lane and P5 bridge accounting are directionally solid, but the load-bearing mypy receipt is not hermetic/single-authority while it allows ambient mypy config discovery. Pin the runner to an explicit scratch config derived from the modeled profile, then this should be close to approvable.

…ity)

Generate mypy.ini from mypy_profile_l1 in the scratch dir and invoke mypy with
--config-file and --cache-dir so ambient repo/user config cannot participate in
the receipt (openai-pro P2/CODING/TESTING finding).

Addressed openai-pro/gpt-5.5-pro REQUEST_CHANGES (valid): ambient mypy config discovery.

Fix: v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh now writes ${scratch}/mypy.ini from modeled mypy_profile_l1 (python_version, strict, show_error_codes) and runs mypy --config-file "${scratch}/mypy.ini" --cache-dir "${scratch}/.mypy_cache" — no cwd/HOME config participation; CLI flags removed in favor of the generated config as single authority.

Re cursor/composer-2.5 APPROVE note (stale census literals 171 → 172):

Verified on 40484453c1 — no change needed. git show origin/main:…/sg0_census_test.rs lists 171 EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST paths; HEAD lists 172 (+1 for v4_leaf_model_python_l1_static_receipts_test.rs). sg0_v3_test_hand_authored_subratchet passes. Updating comments to 190 → 191 would mis-state the ratchet and fail the census test.

P5 comments at v4_leaf_model_python_l1_static_receipts_test.rs:11, sg0_census_test.rs:435, and sg0-pr-body-append.4223.txt:3 remain 171 → 172.

BLOCKING (1)

Root Cause

  • scripts/v4-leaf-model-python-l1-mypy-static-verify.sh host receipt lacks a typed read of LeafModelPythonStaticFixturePair → derive happy/falsification source refs and profile ref from the modeled pair before resolving data/config rows

⚠️ The mypy host runner needs to consume the modeled fixture authority directly before this can merge.
