SG-0 hand-path delta: +1
SG-0 pairing: (b) P5 Mechanism (b) hand-Rust census receipt for P9 single-owner corpus ratchet (replaces dissolved v4_lens_cost_dag_smoke_test.rs). https://github.com/gunb-ai/gunbc/blob/main/ROADMAP.md

Summary

Restores fail-closed integrity coverage for the v4 lens/CI track after the dissolved v4_lens_cost_dag_smoke_test.rs ratchet.

  • R2-1 (P9 single-owner): Corpus-walk integration ratchet (v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs) plus existing .dag registry TestClaim — asserts fn llvm_instruction_cost appears exactly once under src/v4/ in lens/cost.dag and is absent from llvm_ir.dag. INVARIANTS §P5(b) receipt + EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST census line.
  • AI-16/R1-7 (affected_set): Added 🟡 dissolution markers for modeled frontier-kind policy and whole-graph closure scan; rewired dependency_in_lens_frontier to read lens_frontier_dependency_kinds() policy data. Documented + smoke-tested CI fail-closed contract (RerunNodeSetFailClosed => roster, test_claim_ci_selection_fail_closed bypass).

Not in this PR: InferredFacts {grounding, descent} fixture migration — reverted in 801f7f4; authority in 04_infer.dag still declares four-field shape until PR #3587 lands. R2-3 / R2-6 were report-only follow-ons.

Test plan

  • cargo test -p v3-compiler --test integration v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_defined_only_in_lens_cost_dag v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_absent_from_llvm_ir_dag sg0_v3_test_hand_authored_subratchet v4_workflow_ci_test_claim_selection_entrypoints -- --exact
  • cargo fmt --all --check
  • Full workspace CI on push

Worker attestation

  • Title describes the change (not the session id or branch).
  • PR body summarises what and why.
  • Tests: targeted integration commands above; full suite via CI after push.
  • No work-item close directive (dashboard-owned assignment).
  • No surprise commits / no secrets.

BLOCKING (2)

Root Cause

  • src/v3/compiler/tests/integration.rs new test modules were added without updating the consolidated integration harness → add #[path] entries for both new files or move the assertions to an already-executed .dag/generated test path
  • src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs SG-0/P5 authorities were not updated for the new hand-Rust test paths → add census entries plus same-PR INVARIANTS §P5 receipts for both files, or avoid new hand-Rust by expressing the checks as .dag TestClaims

⚠️ The new checks are directionally useful, but they currently land as unwired and unreceipted hand-Rust test files.

Finding accepted — fixed in 801f7f4.

The review is correct: type InferredFacts in 04_infer.dag:60-65 still declares the four-field authority shape (resolved_type, inhabits, descent, canonical), and inferred_facts_from_grounding at :162-167 constructs exactly that. PR #3587 (session/deep-bear-704) — which owns the collapsed {grounding, descent} migration in compiler/ — is still open and not merged to main.

This PR had prematurely migrated src/v4/test/claim/** fixtures to the collapsed shape and added v4_test_claim_inferred_facts_shape_test.rs enforcing it, which codified a divergence from the declared authority (P2 single-authority violation).

Fix: Reverted all test/claim InferredFacts { constructors to the four-field shape matching 04_infer.dag; removed the shape drift guard and its SG-0 / INVARIANTS §P5(b) receipt wiring. R2-1 (P9 corpus ratchet) and AI-16 (affected_set) scope unchanged.

Fixture migration + shape ratchet belong in #3587 (or a follow-on after that authority lands), not here.

Review item 1 (claude-opus-4-7 APPROVE) — verified, no code changes needed.

Spot-checked current HEAD against each observation:

  • dependency_in_lens_frontier now delegates to dependency_kind_in_lens_frontier_policy folding lens_frontier_dependency_kinds() — predicate-dissolution direction is correct; list-membership fold is semantically equivalent to the old ProjectionDependsOn/VerifiedBy arms.
  • Both 🟡 markers (affected_set.dag:273, :414) carry feature tag, named consumer, TASKS.md bind, dissolve-on trigger, and forbidden-form clause.
  • P9 hand-Rust ratchet (v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs) lands with matching SG-0 census line + INVARIANTS §P5(b) row; corpus scan confirms single fn llvm_instruction_cost in lens/cost.dag:656, absent from llvm_ir.dag.
  • CI fail-closed smoke substrings match ci.dag:272 / :277.

No blocking issues on current SHA. Separate commit incoming for CI infra flake (MVP-1 /tmp dir collision on self-hosted runner).

Review item 1 (codex-default APPROVE @ bb34c03) — verified, no code changes needed.

Spot-checked current HEAD against the approval claims:

  • P9 hand-Rust + P5 receipt: v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs wired in integration.rs:296-297; SG-0 census line at sg0_census_test.rs:881; matching INVARIANTS §P5(b) row at INVARIANTS.md:371. Corpus ratchet confirms single fn llvm_instruction_cost in lens/cost.dag, absent from llvm_ir.dag.
  • Affected-set markers: affected_set.dag:273 (modeled-policy interim) and :414 (whole-graph scan) carry feature tags, named consumer (v4.workflow.ci), TASKS.md T-21 bind, dissolve-on triggers, and forbidden-form clauses — bounded tracked debt, not silent scaffolds.

Prior codex BLOCKING on 4f0a2366 (unwired harness / missing receipts) addressed in bb60daeb3 + 89e85c6f5; shape-test path removed 801f7f48d.

Merge readiness @ bb34c03: CI green (run 26346774775 — fmt/affected/ci/v3/v4/self_host_ratchet all pass), mergeable=MERGEABLE. Awaiting ≥2 distinct api-review APPROVE artifacts on GitHub + operator approval on shared ci.yml change (flagged to manager). Not merging per operator policy.

1. Story of the diff

This PR repairs a set of integrity seams around v4 lens/CI enforcement rather than changing the core compiler algorithm. It makes the v4 bootstrap gate result conditional on the compile step actually running, so a skipped compile step does not still evaluate the “compile or tracked bridge” result path (.github/workflows/ci.yml:238), and it moves the MVP1 e2e scratch/output defaults to per-run paths under RUNNER_TEMP to avoid shared /tmp collisions (scripts/v4-mvp1-e2e-gate.sh:53-56). The main substantive test integrity move is restoring the P9 single-owner guard for llvm_instruction_cost: the PR adds an integration corpus scan, wires it into integration.rs, adds it to the SG-0 hand-authored-test census, and records the P5 dissolution receipt in INVARIANTS.md (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:70-117, src/v3/compiler/tests/integration.rs:296-297, src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:879-881, INVARIANTS.md:371). That replacement is important because the reference invariants explicitly say the prior cost-lens smoke was not equivalent to whole-tree parse and needed a named P9 single-owner successor. chatgpt-review-b7b09f96-53bb-4e…

On the v4 modeling side, affected_set.dag replaces a direct DependencyKind match with a tracked policy-list fold, leaving the temporary shape behind an explicit yellow dissolution tag instead of silently adding permanent hand-rolled match arms (src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:273, src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:279-287, src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:380). The workflow CI smoke then pins the intended fail-closed behavior: RerunNodeSetFailClosed returns the full roster, and DiagnosticClaim rows route through test_claim_ci_selection_fail_closed (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs:147-154). The only issue I found is that ci.dag adds a multi-line prose explanation of that contract directly in the .dag body, which violates the project’s .dag no-prose discipline even though the underlying behavior and tests are directionally right.

2. Invariant categories

1. LAYER MODEL — Compliant. The diff touches v4 lens/workflow substrate-adjacent .dag files, but it does not add a new Dag substrate connective, behavior variant, or dag.rs authority; the affected-set dependency policy is explicitly marked as a temporary modeled-policy bridge at src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:273 and consumed through the helper at src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:380, so the policy remains visible rather than becoming an implicit storage-shape walk.

2. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md — Compliant. The P9 single-owner gap is tracked rather than papered: the new Rust receipt is added to SG-0 at src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:879-881, wired at src/v3/compiler/tests/integration.rs:296-297, and given a same-PR P5 dissolution row at INVARIANTS.md:371. The affected-set interim scan also names its feature gate, consumer, task binding, and dissolve-on-arrival trigger at src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:273 and src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:414, which satisfies the tracked-bridge shape rather than leaving unbounded debt.

3. CODING.md — Finding. src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:263-266 adds a four-line explanatory prose block describing the fail-closed contract. The contract is important, but in a .dag file this is the wrong authority shape: modeling discipline limits .dag comments to the file path, terse header, optional anchor, and one-line tags; process/contract narration belongs in PR review, an invariant receipt, or an executable/modelled assertion, not as body prose. chatgpt-review-1ab39110-d3d9-4d…

The PR already encodes the same claim structurally in the smoke assertions at src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs:147-154 and in the updated P5 receipt at INVARIANTS.md:372, so the fix is to remove the prose block or reduce it to an allowed one-line tag if a carrier-local tag is actually needed.

4. TESTING.md — Compliant. The added P9 regression guard is behavior-focused on the authority property that was lost: exactly one fn llvm_instruction_cost exists under src/v4/, and the one definition must be in src/v4/lens/cost.dag (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:70-117). Because the subject is a corpus-wide single-owner regression guard pending M2/generated execution, an integration file-walk ratchet with a same-PR SG-0/P5 receipt is the right interim level; the .dag claim remains present as the future structural target (src/v4/test/claim/lens_cost/p9_llvm_instruction_cost_registry_owner.dag:4-5). The CI fail-closed additions are also tested at the contract boundary rather than by inspecting lower-level implementation details (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs:147-154).

5. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS — Compliant. I did not see this PR alter a locked substrate shape or design decision. It aligns with the live thesis direction that build/CI are modeled as .dag workflows and that tests should move toward .dag TestClaim data while hand-Rust receipts remain dissolving scaffolds. chatgpt-review-b4aeef77-e666-4e…

The temporary Rust P9 guard is explicitly paired with dissolution to M2 reflection/generated harness execution at INVARIANTS.md:371, so it does not claim to be a new permanent test authority.

6. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT — Compliant. The new debt surfaces I see are tracked: the P9 Rust test has SG-0 census coverage and a P5 dissolution trigger (INVARIANTS.md:371, src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:879-881), the affected-set frontier policy names a feature gate and dissolve-on-arrival path (src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:273), and the whole-graph affected-set scan names the O(affected-region) replacement trigger (src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:414). The workflow comment finding above is not a new scaffold so much as an in-file prose-authority violation.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Compliant. The highest-level intent is preserved: the PR strengthens CI/lens self-application by making fail-closed affected-set selection explicit and by restoring the P9 single-owner guard that whole-tree parse does not cover (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs:147-154, src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:70-117). That matches the thesis direction that CI/build orchestration are .dag workflows and that lens self-application applies to the build/CI pipeline. chatgpt-review-b4aeef77-e666-4e…

The temporary Rust test does not dilute the zero-floor target because it is recorded as a dissolving T-PB-B scaffold, not as a permanent testing category (INVARIANTS.md:371, src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:879-881). The Pure Bootstrap to Zero authority says Rust-authored test categories dissolve into .dag TestClaim/generated coverage, and this PR names that exact exit path for the new P9 guard. chatgpt-review-4aceb48b-748b-4d…

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES. The implementation/test integrity work is otherwise well tracked and directionally correct, but src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:263-266 introduces body prose into a .dag model file where the project requires structure/tags/receipts instead of narrative comments. Remove or reshape that comment; the fail-closed behavior is already carried by the test and invariant receipt.

Review item 1 (openai-pro / gpt-5.5-pro REQUEST_CHANGES @ bb34c03) — valid, fixed in 23c88ad.

Finding accepted: src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:263-266 added a four-line narrative comment before ci_select_from_rerun_nodes, violating .dag no-prose discipline (modeling-discipline.md / CODING.md — structure and one-line tags only, not contract narration in body).

Fix: Removed the prose block entirely. Fail-closed contract remains encoded structurally:

  • ci_select_from_rerun_nodes body: RerunNodeSetFailClosed { evidence: _ } => roster + test_claim_ci_selection_fail_closed(c: claim) bypass on produced path
  • Smoke pins: v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs:147-154
  • Receipt: INVARIANTS.md:372

No behavior change; smoke substring assertions unchanged.

Review item 1 (codex-default APPROVE @ 23c88ad) — verified, no code changes needed.

Confirmed on current HEAD (23c88ad42):

  • P9 hand-Rust + P5 receipt: v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs wired (integration.rs:296-297); SG-0 census (sg0_census_test.rs:881); INVARIANTS §P5(b) row (INVARIANTS.md:371). Net +1 hand-authored path vs main.
  • Scope: Diff is narrowly scoped — P9 corpus ratchet, AI-16 affected_set policy markers, CI fail-closed smoke pins, MVP-1 temp-dir isolation, bootstrap-gate skip-when-compile-skipped. Prose block removed from ci.dag in 23c88ad42 per openai-pro REQUEST_CHANGES.
  • Rubrik: No concrete violations spotted in changed lines against thesis/modeling/P5 discipline.

CI re-running on 23c88ad42 (fmt/affected pass; ci/v3 pending). Standing by for green CI + openai-pro re-review + operator ci.yml approval before merge-ready.

1. Story of the diff

This PR is mostly an integrity repair around v4 CI/lens receipts. It restores a P9 single-owner guard for llvm_instruction_cost by adding a new Rust integration corpus scan, wiring it into integration.rs, registering it in the SG-0 hand-authored-test census, and updating the INVARIANTS receipt that previously named the removed v4_lens_cost_dag_smoke_test.rs gap. It also moves the affected-set frontier-kind check in src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag from an inline DependencyKind match into a named frontier-policy list plus contains-based helper, with explicit 🟡 markers for the interim policy and whole-graph scan. Around CI, it tweaks the live GitHub Actions bootstrap-result condition, makes the MVP1 e2e script use per-run temp paths, and adds source-surface assertions that the modeled CI selection path stays fail-closed for rerun-node failures.

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL (substrate vs implementation).

Compliant — the substrate-adjacent v4 lens change does not introduce new DependencyKind variants or Dag storage; src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:274 explicitly marks the interim frontier-kind policy and src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:379 routes the old inline match through that single policy helper instead of adding another consumer-local match.

  1. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md.

Finding — .github/workflows/ci.yml:238 violates P2 Boundary Discipline / single-authority metadata. The diff changes live CI behavior by adding steps.v4_bootstrap_compile.outcome != 'skipped' directly in GitHub Actions, but the project authorities say CI/build orchestration is modeled as .dag workflows and CI gates require a .dag edit (THESIS.md:231-234), while the pure-bootstrap design names src/v4/workflow/ci.dag as the load-bearing CI pipeline data and ci.yml as a checked projection (docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md:7). With no corresponding src/v4/workflow/ci.dag change or generated-projection receipt, the skip semantics become a second CI authority outside the modeled workflow. Please either model this condition in workflow/ci.dag and project/check it into ci.yml, or include the concrete projection receipt showing this YAML line is derived from the .dag authority.

  1. CODING.md.

Compliant — the new P9 Rust test is organized as small free functions over explicit inputs (workspace_root, parse_module, surface_declares_fn, collect_dag_files at src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:29-68), and the MVP1 script change at scripts/v4-mvp1-e2e-gate.sh:53-56 makes temp-file dependencies explicit instead of relying on fixed /tmp paths.

  1. TESTING.md.

Compliant — the PR adds the missing regression guard for the P9 single-owner claim at the right level: v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_defined_only_in_lens_cost_dag scans the v4 corpus for declarations of the target function and asserts exactly one canonical owner (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:76-115). The new hand-authored Rust test is also registered in EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:879-881), so it is visible to the existing zero-floor ratchet rather than silent test debt.

  1. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS.

Finding — same CI authority drift as above. docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md:7 is a locked/live workflow-authority statement for v4: workflow/bootstrap.dag and workflow/ci.dag are the load-bearing workflow models, and committed ci.yml is only a checked projection. The changed YAML condition at .github/workflows/ci.yml:238 alters that projection without a matching .dag authority update, so the divergence is not explicit.

  1. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT.

Compliant — the new P9 Rust corpus scan is tracked as a temporary bridge: the INVARIANTS P5 row added at INVARIANTS.md:371 names the path, owner claim, ROADMAP lane, dissolution trigger, and interim ratchet, and the SG-0 census line at src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:879-881 keeps the hand-authored test counted. The affected-set interim shapes also carry named gates and dissolve-on-arrival markers at src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:274 and src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:413.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Finding — .github/workflows/ci.yml:238 dilutes the modeled-CI intent. PM-level authority says bootstrap, CI, and build orchestration are modeled as .dag workflows and that adding a CI gate requires editing one .dag file (THESIS.md:231-234); the v4 zero-floor design then names src/v4/workflow/ci.dag as the CI authority and ci.yml as a checked projection (docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md:7). This PR changes the live GitHub Actions condition directly at .github/workflows/ci.yml:238, but does not change src/v4/workflow/ci.dag or provide a projection receipt. A worker faithfully following the modeled CI source would not see this new skip condition, so the PR preserves the right high-level direction everywhere else but reintroduces a hand-authored CI control seam here.

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES. The P9 guard restoration and affected-set tracking are well-formed, but the live CI YAML change needs to be reconciled with the .dag workflow authority before merge; otherwise CI behavior becomes a parallel source of truth outside the project’s locked modeled-CI path.

Review item 1 (openai-pro / gpt-5.5-pro REQUEST_CHANGES @ e29352a) — valid, fixed in 6ba2e72.

Verified the RC against current HEAD. The prior drift was real: the live GitHub Actions bootstrap gate-result skip guard was introduced without a matching modeled CI authority.

Current fix:

  • src/v4/workflow/ci.dag now models gate run policy with CiGateRunPolicy = Always | RequiresJobAttempt { job: Symbol }.
  • structural_v2_compile carries run_policy: RequiresJobAttempt { job: v2_compile_src_v4 }, matching the live bootstrap compile attempt guard.
  • ci_pipeline_well_formed now calls ci_all_gate_run_policies_resolve, so policy job references are checked as part of the modeled CI pipeline.
  • v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs pins the carrier, the bootstrap gate policy, the well-formedness wiring, and the .github/workflows/ci.yml projection line containing steps.v4_bootstrap_compile.outcome != 'skipped'.

Local verification on 6ba2e721e2:

  • /opt/cargo/bin/cargo fmt --check
  • /opt/cargo/bin/cargo test -p v3-compiler --test integration v4_workflow_ci -- --nocapture — 5 passed

No extra commit was needed for this feedback turn because the authorized fix commit is already on the PR head.

Review item 1 (codex-default REQUEST_CHANGES @ 6ba2e72) — valid, fixed in 7684ffc.

Verified against current code: src/v4/workflow/ci.dag added CiGateRunPolicy = Always | RequiresJobAttempt { job: Symbol } without the required Practice 4 inline disposition tag.

Fix: added a one-line 🟡 coproduct dissolution tag directly above CiGateRunPolicy, bound to the existing live-workflow projection gates docs/r3-program-plan.md #98/#100, with dissolve-on-arrival and forbidden-form clauses for GitHub Actions-only gate conditions outside CiGate.run_policy.

Verification:

  • /opt/cargo/bin/cargo fmt --check
  • /opt/cargo/bin/cargo test -p v3-compiler --test integration v4_workflow_ci -- --nocapture — 5 passed
  • pre-push cargo fmt --all --check

BLOCKING (1)

Root Cause

  • src/v4/workflow/ci.dag CiGate gained a required substrate fact without a corpus-wide producer migration or constructor authority → update every CiGate literal, including pipeline_rejections.dag, or introduce a single constructor/helper that supplies run_policy.

⚠️ One substrate migration gap remains.

BLOCKING (1)

Root Cause

  • src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs P5 receipt was appended near the related workflow row instead of inserted at its sorted path position → move the v4_p9 row before later v4_* entries so sg0_expected_list_is_sorted_and_unique remains green.

⚠️ One mechanical CI-blocking census ordering issue remains.

1. Story of the diff

This PR tightens several integrity seams around v4 CI/lens ownership rather than adding one isolated feature. It models a new CI gate execution policy in src/v4/workflow/ci.dag: CiGate now carries a typed run_policy, the structural v2 compile gate requires the bootstrap compile attempt, and .github/workflows/ci.yml mirrors that policy by skipping the gate-result step when the compile step was itself skipped. In parallel, it replaces the previously dissolved P9 LLVM-cost ownership ratchet with a new SG-0-tracked Rust integration test that scans the v4 corpus for exactly one fn llvm_instruction_cost, while also recording the hand-Rust receipt in INVARIANTS.md and the SG-0 census. Finally, it moves the affected-set frontier filter away from an inline match into an explicitly tagged interim policy list, and it annotates the remaining whole-graph closure as a tracked bridge toward affected-region scoping.

2. Invariant categories

1. LAYER MODEL

Compliant — the PR touches substrate/workflow modeling and keeps the new policy typed rather than string/prose-shaped: src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:62 makes run_policy a required CiGate field, src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:66 introduces CiGateRunPolicy as a modeled coproduct, and src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:203 adds a resolver check for policy-referenced jobs. That is the right layer for the live CI skip semantics.

2. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md

Finding — Practice 9 / no-prose discipline: src/v4/test/claim/lens_cost/p9_llvm_instruction_cost_registry_owner.dag:4 adds a header line pointing to the Rust corpus-scan test, and src/v4/test/claim/lens_cost/p9_llvm_instruction_cost_registry_owner.dag:5 records the M2 reflection deferral. That is process/test-receipt prose inside a .dag file, not model structure, a required coproduct tag, an anchor, or the terse four-line header shape; the same receipt already lives in the SG-0/INVARIANTS surfaces added by this PR. Practice 9 says .dag comments are not a parallel prose authority and process/test receipts belong in PR review, INVARIANTS §P5, TASKS, or commit metadata, not in-file prose. chatgpt-review-106b7299-105f-45…

Remove those two lines or reduce the header to the allowed structural status only.

3. CODING.md

Compliant — the new Rust test module uses small free functions (workspace_root, parse_module, surface_declares_fn, collect_dag_files) and keeps filesystem access at the integration-test edge. The module doc is long, but it is a load-bearing SG-0/P5 receipt for a temporary hand-Rust harness, which CODING.md allows for invariant-required headers. chatgpt-review-e65d20e4-7e01-4d…

4. TESTING.md

Finding — behavior-driven tests, not implementation-string pins: src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs:178 only asserts that ci_pipeline_well_formed contains the text ci_all_gate_run_policies_resolve(gates: p.gates, jobs: p.jobs). That does not prove the new fail-closed behavior introduced at src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:203: a pipeline whose CiGate.run_policy is RequiresJobAttempt { job: missing_symbol } should reject with the dangling-reference diagnostic. The rejection fixtures were only retrofitted with run_policy: Always on existing cases, e.g. src/v4/test/claim/workflow/pipeline_rejections.dag:478, so no .dag behavior case exercises the new rejection path. TESTING.md explicitly asks tests to name the interface and behavior rather than pin implementation details. chatgpt-review-ad4d3b52-b12b-4c…

Add a PipelineRejectionCase for a dangling RequiresJobAttempt job, or an equivalent generated/TestClaim receipt, so the new structural validator is behavior-tested.

5. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS

Compliant — the diff does not change the Pure Bootstrap / 0-floor target. The new hand-Rust P9 corpus scan is entered in EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST at src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:879 and has an INVARIANTS P5 row at INVARIANTS.md:371, so it is treated as a tracked temporary receipt rather than a new permanent Rust authority. That preserves the zero-residual direction while closing the P9 ownership gap.

6. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT

Compliant — the new scaffolds that are intended to be temporary are bounded and named. The P9 Rust harness has SG-0 and INVARIANTS receipts with a dissolution condition; the affected-set frontier policy is explicitly tagged at src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:274 with feature, consumer, TASKS binding, and dissolve-on-arrival; the whole-graph closure bridge is tagged at src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:413; and CiGateRunPolicy has a coproduct dissolution tag at src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:65.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Compliant — the PR’s semantic direction matches the project intent that CI/build orchestration be modeled as .dag workflow data and that Rust receipts remain temporary under the zero-floor trajectory. The thesis says bootstrap, CI, and build orchestration are modeled as .dag workflows and that adding a CI gate should be a .dag-modeled change. chatgpt-review-647f403f-7c61-44…

This PR moves the skip/attempt distinction into src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:62-68 and keeps the live YAML line checked against that model rather than leaving the condition as an unmodeled CI-only tweak.

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES

The substrate direction is sound, and the P9 single-owner replacement is properly tracked, but two pre-merge fixes are needed: remove the new process prose from the .dag claim header, and add a behavior-level rejection case for dangling RequiresJobAttempt policy references instead of relying on a substring assertion that the validator function is mentioned.

1. Story of the diff

This PR closes three integrity seams around v4 CI/lens modeling. First, the live GitHub Actions bootstrap-result step is made skip-aware, and the modeled v4 CI pipeline gains an explicit CiGate.run_policy coproduct so that “run always” versus “run only if a prerequisite job actually attempted” is represented in src/v4/workflow/ci.dag rather than only in YAML (.github/workflows/ci.yml:244, src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:62-68). Second, it restores the P9 LLVM instruction-cost single-owner ratchet by adding a registered Rust integration test that scans all v4 .dag files and asserts llvm_instruction_cost is owned only by src/v4/lens/cost.dag (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:77-115). Third, it tidies affected-set modeling by replacing a hardcoded DependencyKind match with a tracked policy-list membership helper and by adding inline yellow markers for remaining affected-set scaffolds (src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:274-286, src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:379, src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:413).

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL (substrate vs implementation).

Compliant — this is not implementation-only: it touches modeled v4 workflow/lens substrate. The new CI gate run policy is placed on the modeled CiGate carrier (src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:62) with an explicit CiGateRunPolicy sum (src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:65-68) and a fail-closed validator for dangling policy-job references (src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:263-274), rather than leaving the condition as a YAML-only implementation fact.

  1. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md.

Compliant — Boundary Discipline / single authority is improved for the P9 cost owner: the new Rust ratchet is registered in the P5 receipt and SG-0 census (INVARIANTS.md:372, src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:886-888), and the test checks the full v4 corpus for exactly one canonical llvm_instruction_cost owner (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:77-115). Practice 10 predicate/walker discipline is also improved in affected-set: dependency_in_lens_frontier now delegates through the policy surface instead of owning the DependencyKind match locally (src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:274-286, src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:379).

  1. CODING.md.

Compliant — the new Rust is a test-harness edge and uses small free functions/explicit constants rather than hidden object state: parse_module and surface_declares_fn are local free helpers (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:38-53), and filesystem traversal is isolated to the integration ratchet (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_p9_llvm_instruction_cost_single_owner_test.rs:60-71). The CI smoke additions similarly remain test-only and named around the behavior they pin.

  1. TESTING.md.

Finding — src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:263: behavior-driven regression coverage is missing for the new fail-closed run-policy validator. The PR adds ci_all_gate_run_policies_resolve(...) into ci_pipeline_well_formed and rejects a dangling RequiresJobAttempt job with ci_dangling_reference (src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:263-274), but the pipeline rejection fixtures only update existing cases to run_policy: Always rather than adding a negative case for an unresolved RequiresJobAttempt reference, e.g. case_dangling_bootstrap_output now uses Always (src/v4/test/claim/workflow/pipeline_rejections.dag:365) and the same pattern appears in the other updated rejection rows (src/v4/test/claim/workflow/pipeline_rejections.dag:393, src/v4/test/claim/workflow/pipeline_rejections.dag:420-421, src/v4/test/claim/workflow/pipeline_rejections.dag:448, src/v4/test/claim/workflow/pipeline_rejections.dag:475, src/v4/test/claim/workflow/pipeline_rejections.dag:503-504). The added Rust smoke only checks that the modeled names and YAML condition exist (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs:178-186); it does not prove the new rejection branch fires. TESTING.md’s behavior-driven / one-claim discipline requires pinning the interface behavior, not just substrings or shape, so this needs a .dag rejection fixture where run_policy: RequiresJobAttempt { job: <missing> } fails closed with ci_dangling_reference. chatgpt-review-7b226818-6029-4c…

  1. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS.

Compliant — the PR stays aligned with the locked PM-level direction that build/CI orchestration lives as .dag workflow data: the live YAML skip-aware condition is paired with modeled CiGateRunPolicy rows in src/v4/workflow/ci.dag (src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:117-126) and a smoke check tying the YAML condition back to the modeled policy (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/v4_workflow_ci_runner_dag_smoke_test.rs:182-186). No locked design divergence is introduced.

  1. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT.

Compliant — the new P9 Rust ratchet is tracked with all three required pieces: documentation/receipt (INVARIANTS.md:372), bounds via SG-0 census registration (src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:886-888), and a named dissolution trigger to move the check to .dag/generated coverage. The new modeled scaffolds also carry explicit yellow markers with feature/consumer triggers (src/v4/workflow/ci.dag:65, src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:274, src/v4/lens/affected_set.dag:413).

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Compliant — semantically, this PR preserves the high-level intent: CI behavior is modeled in workflow/ci.dag, the P9 LLVM cost authority is made single-owner again, and affected-set interim shapes are marked rather than silently normalized. The only PM-relevant gap is not a plan dilution; it is verification incompleteness for the newly introduced CiGateRunPolicy rejection path, captured above under TESTING.

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES

The modeling direction is sound, and the P9/affected-set scaffolds are tracked. The new CI run-policy validator adds a fail-closed behavior without a matching behavior-driven rejection fixture, so this should not merge until that .dag negative case is added.
