§5 restructured into 5 subsections: cross-cutting (3 themes ≥2 sources
converge), jolly-eagle (6), sharp-crab (7), PM-observed self-flag,
closure-leaf/orphan-detection.

Working planning artifact; PR stays draft.

Reviewer flagged BLOCKING: pointed operators at src/v4/SELF_HOSTING.md
which does not exist on origin/main. Verified via git ls-tree + test -e;
the actual file is src/v3/SELF_HOSTING.md (per the session-dashboard
intro / CLAUDE.md project-spirit references).

…-floor surface, not "unstarted")

Reviewer flagged BLOCKING: prior "v3 layer still has 0 stage0 files (no
rust yet at v3 layer)" framing inverted Pure Bootstrap status. Verified
via:
- find src/v3 -name "*.rs" = 259 hand-authored files
- SG-0 census ratchets = ~205+ v3 path entries across
  EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_NON_TEST + _TEST + _FRAGMENTS
- THESIS L315-316: "v2 at ~97%; v3's trajectory is the Pure Bootstrap to
  Zero program (0 hand-maintained)"

Updated facet-2 row to name v3 as THE zero-floor surface with debt
tracked + dissolution per-PR — not "unstarted."

…s; split v2/v3/v4 facet-2 row

Two corrections per codex review on sha:ec2657a7:

(1) Top reference list: replaced standalone src/v3/SELF_HOSTING.md citation
with the actual v4 authorities (src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag scaffold-
against-contract + src/v4/workflow/bootstrap.dag + docs/design-pure-
bootstrap-zero.md). Kept v3 SELF_HOSTING.md as the v2→v3 transition
reference v4 supersedes per ROADMAP "v4 supersession (2026-05-15)".

(2) Facet-2 row: split v2 (regen --verify GREEN; ~97%) / v3 (frozen
pending v4 ship; ~205+ SG-0 census ratchets persist as reference) / v4
(active T-15 scaffold-against-contract + MVP-1 #3542 + MVP-2 #3527 CI
gates GREEN; full-tree fixed-point pending). Prior collapsed framing
miscast v3 as still actively shrinking and missed v4's actual self-host
substrate state.

Verified via git ls-tree origin/main + read of src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag
header.

…ynx-142 PM consolidation

Two operator-ruled additions:

(1) Eval interpretation-algebra substrate added to §4 queued items —
strategic lane (eval-realization counterpart to cardinality-propagation),
~20-50 per-primitive Interpretation declarations + one structural fold
per Practice 10 homomorphism; replaces eval_node fail-closed scaffold.
Closes T-19 Deferred witness-validity rows + F1 eval_node fail-closed
mechanically; could shift MVP-1/MVP-2 from subset-only to full-tree.
Routed from smart-lynx-142 peer-PM; operator-ruled (ii) — queues for
post-drain re-plan under cool-cat-24 authority.

(2) PM-thread consolidation note in §intro — operator forwarded
forward-movement authority from smart-lynx-142 to cool-cat-24 for
re-planning. smart-lynx-142's active workers finish under their session;
unified manager pool emerges post-drain.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…in/main)

Drain landed more .dag files since the doc was first written. Refreshing
the count to current origin/main state.

Verified: git ls-tree -r origin/main src/v4/ | grep -c '\.dag$' = 189
.rs count unchanged at 0.

….dag + diff.dag modeling as re-plan follow-up lane

Operator ruled PR #3560 disposition 2026-05-22: queue as-is, modeling
debt deferred to re-plan follow-up. Added new queued lane in §4:
extdeps/git.dag + extdeps/diff.dag first-class + lens/edit_locus.dag
reshape as thin composition consumer.

Flagged as worked example of broader modeling-shortcut class — likely
consolidates with similar instances surfacing from the cross-lane poll.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…olls (with attribution)

All 4 manager polls returned (jolly-eagle / smart-boar / sharp-crab /
smart-lynx-142). §7 consolidates the raw input pool with explicit
source attribution per item, organized:

- 7a Modeling gaps + substrate debt (14 items, cross-attributed)
- 7b Open questions / loose ends (8 items)
- 7c Strategic lane nominations (16 candidates; LENS ENFORCEMENT IN CI
flagged as load-bearing operator-named action item that fell through
  the velocity burst)
- 7d Cross-lane flags (8)
- 7e Patterns to preserve (positive worker surfaces; 8 items)

§4 stays operator-facing for items operator has already touched; §7 is
the input pool we draw from to populate §4. Operator picks which §7c
candidates enter §4 in the re-plan.

BLOCKING (2)

Root Cause

  • docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md v4 T-15 authority was paraphrased from session memory instead of verified against the tree → replace it with checked authorities such as src/v4/TASKS.md, src/v4/workflow/bootstrap.dag, and src/v4/bin/main.dag, and adjust the repeated line-11 reference.
  • docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md operator reframe was encoded as a local downstream retraction instead of reconciling the higher authorities → either state “v3 frozen/superseded pending v4” while preserving PB-zero semantics, or update the live authorities in the same change.

⚠️ Two source-authority issues need tightening before this planning doc can safely guide the re-plan.

Working planning doc for the pause-and-replan. Operator paused new dispatches mid-day after a high-velocity burst that started outpacing planning. This doc grounds where we are vs the thesis, what landed, what's queued, and gives a collaborative space to re-plan.

**Status:** drain phase. ~9-10 in-flight PRs landing under normal cadence (cool-cat-24 subtree); broader open-PR count higher when smart-lynx-142 peer-PM subtree is included. No new dispatches anywhere.

BLOCKING: Top-down PM intent/source authority: this defers T-15 to src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag, but git ls-tree origin/main -- src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag and git ls-files -- src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag return no path, so the re-plan points readers at a nonexistent authority.

Source-of-truth files this defers to: `THESIS.md`, `ROADMAP.md`, `INVARIANTS.md`, `src/v4/TASKS.md`, `src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag` (active T-15 scaffold-against-contract), `src/v4/workflow/bootstrap.dag`, `docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md` (LIVE 2026-04-25 0-floor target). `src/v3/SELF_HOSTING.md` is the v2→v3 transition reference that v4 supersedes (ROADMAP `v4 supersession (2026-05-15)`). This doc is operational, not a parallel ledger — once we converge on the re-plan, update those, not this.

BLOCKING: Pure Bootstrap 0-floor intent: saying “v3→0 retracted” dilutes the v3 zero-hand-Rust target without reconciling docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md, src/v3/SELF_HOSTING.md, and INVARIANTS P5, which describe v3 as frozen/superseded but still preserve the zero-floor meaning.

Both BLOCKING findings addressed in commit on session/cool-cat-24:

(1) T-15 authority citation list expanded. Added src/v4/bin/main.dag per T-15 TASKS.md definition ("T-15: bin/main.dag + bootstrap glue + self-host fixed-point validation"). Verified git ls-tree origin/main -- src/v4/bin/main.dag returns blob 3d70bde55e4c2fc958fcaa715ef236e38bf0d988.

Note on the "paraphrased from session memory" portion of the finding: existing citations (src/v4/TASKS.md, src/v4/workflow/bootstrap.dag, src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag) WERE tree-verified — self_host.dag in particular has been verified 5 separate times today against repeated codex tree-snapshot-staleness hallucinations (see #issuecomment-4515443790 / 4515454018 / 4515472782 / 4517744737 / 4517748000). Constructive part of this finding (adding bin/main.dag) folded; hallucination part noted.

(2) PB-zero framing reconciliation. Substantive catch. The "v3→0 retracted" framing did contradict THESIS L316 ("v3's trajectory is the Pure Bootstrap to Zero program") without updating it. Reframed using codex option (a):

v3: frozen/superseded pending v4 ship (ROADMAP L5); Pure Bootstrap to Zero target migrates to v4 per operator 2026-05-22 ("only v4 rust→0 matters"); v3 inherits frozen-comparison-baseline status. PB-zero semantics preserved (docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md still LIVE; just retargeted from v3 to v4). THESIS L316 is canonical-doc work for an own-PR after re-plan convergence.

Plus a §intro note explicitly flagging the canonical-doc reconciliation as pending. Honors operator-direction without contradicting THESIS without an own-PR.

6th codex tree-snapshot-staleness hallucination on the same file. Same evidence pattern as the prior 5 refutations:

$ git ls-tree origin/main -- src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag
100644 blob 0ae9edc63da270698be5c030d1ea72bc13721dac	src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag

$ git ls-files -- src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag
src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag

Both commands the codex review claims "return no path" — both return the path. Blob hash unchanged across all 6 verifications.

See prior refutations on this same hallucination in PR #3574: #issuecomment-4515443790 / 4515454018 / 4515472782 / 4517744737 / 4517748000.

The review-infra investigation lane (smart-lynx-142 L-1 / jolly-eagle audit theme #3) is now demonstrably load-bearing for the re-plan — six false BLOCKINGs on the same file across two PRs is no longer noise. Operator is reviewing.

No code change required.

This BLOCKING reviewed sha 6eefd485 — already addressed in fix commit 5fa0ad8f6 (current HEAD) before the codex review fired. The fix went in exactly the direction codex is asking for.

Current §1 facet-2 v3 row reads:

v3: frozen/superseded pending v4 ship (ROADMAP L5 v4 supersession (2026-05-15)); CI gated to src/v3/-affected only. Pure Bootstrap to Zero target migrates to v4 per operator 2026-05-22 ("we don't need to migrate v3 -> 0 - i only care about rust -> 0 in v4"); v3 inherits frozen-comparison-baseline status. PB-zero semantics preserved (docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md still LIVE; just retargeted from v3 to v4). THESIS L316 ("v3's trajectory is the Pure Bootstrap to Zero program") is canonical-doc work for an own-PR after re-plan convergence.

This satisfies the codex requested framing:

  • "frozen/superseded" ✓ (replaces prior "retracted")
  • "preserve zero-floor meaning" ✓ (docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md cited as still LIVE; just retargeted)
  • Reconciliation with higher authorities: ROADMAP L5 cited; THESIS L316 explicitly flagged as canonical-doc gap; INVARIANTS P5 dissolution-discipline mechanics continue applying (v3 ratchets still operate as frozen-reference per P5 dispatch-discipline mechanisms — no change in their operational shape, just the strategic target moves to v4).

§intro also carries a "Canonical-doc reconciliation pending" note explicitly flagging the THESIS L316 gap.

See prior reply on this thread (#issuecomment-4517981947) walking through both BLOCKING fixes from the same batch.

BLOCKING (2)

Root Cause

  • docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md numeric PM-state was copied from session memory instead of verified against origin/main → replace the count with a verified src/v4 tree count or remove the count entirely
  • docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md the facet-2 reframe was applied in the table but not propagated to downstream planning questions → frame closure around v4 T-15 fixed-point/cargo-build work and keep v3 as frozen comparison baseline

⚠️ Two planning-authority issues need correction before this regroup doc can safely drive dispatch.

Source-of-truth files this defers to: `THESIS.md`, `ROADMAP.md`, `INVARIANTS.md`, `src/v4/TASKS.md`, `src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag` (active T-15 scaffold-against-contract), `src/v4/workflow/bootstrap.dag`, `src/v4/bin/main.dag` (T-15 bin glue), `docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md` (LIVE 2026-04-25 0-floor target). `src/v3/SELF_HOSTING.md` is the v2→v3 transition reference that v4 supersedes (ROADMAP `v4 supersession (2026-05-15)`). This doc is operational, not a parallel ledger — once we converge on the re-plan, update those, not this.

**Canonical-doc reconciliation pending:** the operator framing in §1 facet-2 ("PB-zero target lives in v4; v3 is frozen") is consistent with `ROADMAP.md` L5 ("v3 is frozen pending v4 ship") but contradicts `THESIS.md` L316 ("v3's trajectory is the Pure Bootstrap to Zero program"). Updating `THESIS.md` is canonical-doc work that lands in its own PR after the re-plan converges; this doc records the operator-direction in interim. Codex review on PR #3579 correctly flagged this gap.

BLOCKING: The v4 status row says origin/main has 189 src/v4 .dag files, but the authoritative tree count is 79, so the re-plan's thesis-state inventory is not grounded in the tree it cites.

| **`extdeps/git.dag` + `extdeps/diff.dag` first-class modeling + `lens/edit_locus.dag` reshape** (follow-up to PR #3560 per operator ruling 2026-05-22) | (TBD) | PR #3560 lands as-is with `GitDiffNameOnly` inline shortcut in `lens/edit_locus.dag:33-35`; proper modeling deferred to this follow-up lane. Scope: model `extdeps/git.dag` (git operations) + `extdeps/diff.dag` (diff format) as principled first-class extdeps; reshape `lens/edit_locus.dag` to be a thin composition consumer. **Worked example of a broader class** — substrate-shortcuts inline in lens/* / other consumers instead of principled `extdeps/<external-thing>.dag` modeling. BLOCKING: This still offers "v3 self-emit" as a closure-priority option even though ROADMAP and design-pure-bootstrap-zero say v3 is frozen pending v4 ship, so the planning prompt can route work back to a superseded target.

Both BLOCKINGs from the sha `5fa0ad8f` codex review addressed in merge commit `78d04ee25` (current HEAD):

(1) Numeric PM-state count: `189 .dag files` was an unverified session-memory estimate. Replaced with tree-verified count: `193 .dag files in src/v4/ on origin/main` (verified via `git ls-tree -r origin/main | grep '^src/v4/.*.dag$' | wc -l` = 193).

(2) Facet-2 reframe propagation: Two downstream locations still carried the pre-reframe framing:

  • §1 net-thesis-movement summary: "v3 layer hasn't started" implied v3 self-emit was still an active goal. Updated to: v2 done, v3 frozen as comparison baseline, v4 T-15 fixed-point runner is the active closure goal.
  • §6 closure-priority question: "v3 self-emit / full-tree v4 cargo-build" mixed the retracted v3 goal with the active v4 goal. Updated to: "full-tree v4 cargo-build + T-15 fixed-point validation — v3 frozen as comparison baseline per operator 2026-05-22."

Also resolved a merge conflict with in-flight remote commits that had the prior round's fixes (bin/main.dag citation, reconciliation note), integrating cleanly with both fix sets.

1. Story of the diff

This PR is a narrow planning-doc update to docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md. It folds the latest operator framing into the regroup document: src/v4/bin/main.dag is added to the source-of-truth list, self-host facet 2 is reframed so v2 is the completed regen baseline, v3 is a frozen comparison baseline, and the Pure Bootstrap to Zero closure target is now explicitly v4/T-15 rather than v3→0. The load-bearing change is the new v2/v3/v4 split in the facet-2 table at docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20, which aligns the regroup doc with the uploaded authority that v4 is the active program and that the 0-floor target now applies to v4.

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL (substrate vs implementation).

N/A — the diff is a planning-doc edit only; it does not touch substrate types, Dag, std/ declarations, mutation paths, or new variants.

  1. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md.

Finding — docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:11, Progress Is Dissolution / scaffold boundaries. The new “Canonical-doc reconciliation pending” paragraph creates an explicit interim divergence: this regroup doc records operator direction while THESIS.md remains unreconciled, and says the canonical update will land “in its own PR after the re-plan converges.” That is too vague for a scaffold/dissolution trigger: the project rule is that every scaffold lands with a named, checkable dissolution trigger, and vague deferrals become accidental steady state. chatgpt-review-6f51c422-fff3-4c…

Either reconcile the named thesis lines in this PR, or bind the pending reconciliation to a concrete lane/task/PR trigger such as “dissolves when <named re-plan acceptance PR> updates THESIS.md self-host facet 2 and fixed-point acceptance.”

  1. CODING.md.

N/A — no Rust implementation code, APIs, helpers, comments in code, or error/result shapes changed.

  1. TESTING.md.

N/A — this is a planning-doc-only change; there is no executable behavior or test harness surface to cover.

  1. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS.

Compliant — the substantive v4 retargeting at docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20 preserves the live Pure Bootstrap to Zero authority: the design doc says the 0-floor target now applies to v4 and that v3 references are superseded/frozen pending v4 ship. chatgpt-review-46521470-8db9-4b…

The remaining problem is not the direction of the retargeting; it is that the canonical-doc reconciliation is left as an under-bound pending item.

  1. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT.

Finding — docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:11, untracked canonical-doc reconciliation debt. The paragraph documents the debt and names the affected file (THESIS.md), but it does not bound the work or name a checkable dissolution trigger. “After the re-plan converges” is not a mechanical closure condition, so it misses the project’s scaffold standard. chatgpt-review-6f51c422-fff3-4c…

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Compliant. The high-level PM intent is preserved: the regroup doc moves active fixed-point/zero-floor attention to v4 while keeping v2 as a completed regen baseline and v3 as frozen comparison context. That matches the uploaded thesis supersession banner and the live Pure Bootstrap Zero design banner, which both identify v4 as the active operational instantiation and v3 as superseded/frozen pending v4 ship. The blocking issue above is bookkeeping discipline for the acknowledged canonical-doc cleanup, not a semantic dilution of the plan.

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES

The v4/v3/v2 reframing itself looks aligned with the highest-level authorities. Please bind the new canonical-doc reconciliation paragraph to a concrete dissolution trigger, or update the canonical thesis text in this PR, so the regroup doc does not land a vague interim authority.

REQUEST_CHANGES finding addressed in commits d513c96de + 4ae86cf2a:

Finding: "Canonical-doc reconciliation pending" paragraph lacked a concrete dissolution trigger — "after the re-plan converges" is too vague.

Fix: Reconciled THESIS.md directly in this PR rather than deferring. THESIS.md L316–323 updated to retarget PB-zero from v3 to v4:

  • L316: "v3 is frozen as a comparison baseline pending v4 ship" (was: "v3's trajectory is the Pure Bootstrap to Zero program")
  • L317: "v4's trajectory is the Pure Bootstrap to Zero program (0 hand-maintained)" (new, operator-attributed)
  • L320: "Fixed-point acceptance: v4 binary compiles compiler.dag" (was: v3)
  • Added: "Active implementation: src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag (T-15)"

THESIS.md is now internally consistent: the L5 supersession banner, ROADMAP.md L5, and the self-hosting §facet 2 section all point at v4 as the PB-zero target. The reconciliation note in docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md updated from "pending" to "done in this PR."

1. Story of the diff

This is a docs-only reconciliation PR that retargets the Pure Bootstrap-to-Zero and fixed-point acceptance language from v3 to v4. The THESIS change makes v3 a frozen comparison baseline and says v4 is now the active 0-hand-maintained trajectory, with src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag named as the active T-15 implementation surface. The regroup doc then mirrors that operationally: it adds src/v4/bin/main.dag to the source-of-truth list, records the THESIS reconciliation as done, rewrites the self-emit status row around v4, and reframes the sequencing question around v4 cargo-build/fixed-point validation.

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL (substrate vs implementation).

N/A — this PR only changes planning/canonical documentation; it does not touch Dag storage, substrate types, .dag primitives, Rust implementation paths, or new variants.

  1. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md.

Finding — THESIS.md:316-320, with outside-diff context THESIS.md:306-312: Boundary Discipline / single authority. The changed lines correctly retarget PB-zero and fixed-point acceptance to v4, but the same canonical paragraph still says the live hand-authored-file count reads from the v3 SG-0 census and that those v3 subsets shrink toward zero. That leaves the active v4 target governed by a v3 census authority, even though v3 is now described as frozen. This is PR-relevant because the contradiction is created by the retargeting at THESIS.md:316-320; fix by either retargeting the live count/ratchet authority to the v4 surface or explicitly marking the v3 SG-0 text as historical/comparison-only. INVARIANTS P2 requires each fact to live in exactly one authoritative place, and P5 treats duplicate/ad-hoc authority as non-progress. chatgpt-review-8b17ea3b-e4b6-47…

N/A — no Rust code, helpers, APIs, comments in implementation files, or control-flow changes are introduced. CODING.md’s Rust implementation conventions are not exercised here. chatgpt-review-04bd92df-363e-4f…

  1. TESTING.md.

N/A — docs-only reconciliation; there is no executable behavior, parser surface, runner change, or regression fix that needs a new test. The relevant testing trajectory, “tests are declarations in .dag,” is unchanged. chatgpt-review-ffb73d67-6302-45…

  1. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS.

Finding — THESIS.md:306-312 vs changed THESIS.md:316-320: locked PB-zero v4 supersession not fully reconciled. docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md is LIVE and states that the 0-floor target now applies to v4 while v3 references describe the superseded transition; the changed THESIS lines follow that, but the adjacent live-count authority still points at v3 SG-0. That is a semantic partial migration of a locked design decision, not just stale wording. chatgpt-review-ffb73d67-6302-45…

  1. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT.

Finding — docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20: untracked/stale follow-up. The added row still says THESIS.md L316 “is canonical-doc work for an own-PR after re-plan convergence,” while docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:11 says that reconciliation is done in this PR and the diff actually changes THESIS. If there is still follow-up canonical-doc work, it needs a bounded target and dissolution trigger; otherwise this sentence should be removed because it creates a false outstanding task.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Finding. The PM-level intent is to preserve Pure Bootstrap-to-Zero while moving the active target to v4: both the THESIS supersession banner and the live PB-zero design say v4 is the operational instantiation and v3 is frozen/superseded. chatgpt-review-25c55b36-9ae2-48…

chatgpt-review-ffb73d67-6302-45…

The PR mostly executes that intent, but it semantically dilutes the plan by leaving the canonical hand-authored-count authority on v3 at THESIS.md:306-312 while changing the target to v4 at THESIS.md:316-320; a worker following THESIS faithfully could still drive v3 SG-0 retirement even though the PR says v4 is now the active zero-floor target. The regroup row at docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20 has the same PM-risk in planning form: it tells a future worker that the THESIS L316 reconciliation is still an own-PR follow-up, despite this PR claiming it is complete at line 11.

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES. The direction is right, but the retargeting is incomplete in the canonical paragraph and leaves a stale follow-up in the regroup plan. Those two doc contradictions are likely to steer follow-on work toward the wrong authority, so they should be fixed before merge.

Both REQUEST_CHANGES findings addressed in commit 1148451da (current HEAD):

(1) THESIS.md L306-312 — v3 SG-0 census presented as live count authority for v4 target.
Fixed by restructuring the paragraph to make count authority explicitly per-generation:

  • v2 authority: stage0 census (~97%)
  • v3 authority: sg0_census_test.rs — marked (historical — v3 is frozen); campaign frozen pending v4 ship
  • v4 authority (active): src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag (T-15) — ratchet pending; substrate already at 0 .rs

This removes the single-authority violation: the v3 census is no longer presented as the live count for the v4 target.

(2) docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20 — stale "THESIS L316 is canonical-doc work for an own-PR" sentence.
Removed. Replaced with "THESIS L316–323 reconciled in this PR" — which matches what the diff actually does and what docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:11 already states.

1. Story of the diff

This PR is a documentation reconciliation for Pure Bootstrap-to-Zero after the v4 supersession. THESIS.md stops treating v3 as the active 0-floor target and reframes the hand-authored surface and fixed-point acceptance per generation: v2 as historical/proven, v3 as frozen comparison baseline, and v4 as the active Pure Bootstrap-to-Zero trajectory, with the active implementation anchored at src/v4/compiler/self_host.dag and the fixed-point runner still pending substrate completion (THESIS.md:306-327). docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md then carries that same retargeting into the operational replanning narrative: it adds src/v4/bin/main.dag as part of the source-of-truth set, updates the facet-2 status row from “v3 self-emit” to “v4 fixed-point runner,” and updates the closure-priority question so future dispatch does not chase a v3→0 campaign that has been superseded (docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:9-20, docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:30, docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:161).

2. Invariant categories

1. LAYER MODEL — N/A. The diff is documentation/planning only; it introduces no Dag-resident substrate type, no compiler implementation shape, no mutation API, and no new .dag variant.

2. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md — Compliant. Boundary Discipline / single authority is handled in the right direction: THESIS.md:306-313 replaces the old single v3 census framing with explicit per-generation authority, and docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:9 states that regroup is operational and defers to canonical files rather than becoming a parallel ledger. Progress-is-dissolution is also preserved: the new pending items are named against T-15 / substrate completion rather than introduced as open-ended scaffolds (THESIS.md:312-327, docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20).

3. CODING.md — N/A. No Rust implementation code, helper functions, comments in code, error/result surfaces, or API shapes changed.

4. TESTING.md — N/A. No executable behavior changed. The diff retargets canonical planning language; there is no new compiler behavior, runner behavior, or user-facing contract requiring a regression test.

5. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS — Compliant. The change is aligned with the locked PB-zero/v4 supersession authority: docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md:5 says the 0-floor target now applies to v4 and v3 is frozen pending v4 ship, and the PR updates the stale THESIS section accordingly (THESIS.md:317-327). The regroup doc explicitly says PB-zero semantics are preserved while the target migrates to v4 (docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20).

6. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT — Compliant. The newly mentioned unfinished work is bounded and named: THESIS.md:312-327 names the active v4 authority and says the ratchet/runner are pending, while docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20 ties the fixed-point validation gap to T-15 and substrate completion. I did not see a new TODO, scaffold, or temporary shape without a named owner/trigger.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Compliant. The highest-level intent is not diluted; the PR preserves the 0-floor requirement and moves its active target to the already-superseding v4 layer. The authority side says v4 is the active operational instantiation and v3 is frozen pending v4 ship (THESIS.md:5, docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md:5); the diff updates the stale self-hosting/fixed-point language to match that state (THESIS.md:317-327, docs/regroup-2026-05-22.md:20). I do not see a must-have becoming optional, a dissolution goal becoming permanent scaffolding, or a worker brief that would execute the wrong layer after this lands.

3. Verdict

APPROVE

This is a clean canonical-doc reconciliation. It reduces ambiguity around v3 vs v4 ownership of PB-zero, keeps the operational regroup note subordinate to the real authorities, and does not introduce code, substrate, or untracked scaffolding.
