Dispatch (#1145 → #1131)

Docs-only audit of whether PR-D slice 2 / PR-E full-fold dependencies moved enough to open the next implementation slice.

Result

No — slice 2 / full-fold implementation is still blocked on the same external gates; this PR only records the recheck in r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md so fleet readers do not infer false progress.

PR-D slice 2 (closure residuals)

  • LanguageSpec: still in flight structurally (cite docs/r2-closure-ledger.md T-Ground-LanguageSpec row).
  • Shape A: R3 Lane 1 prereqs still show Python/Go pending vs Rust (r3-v-l4-l7-direct-worker.md).
  • L4/L7 corpus: T-Verification-L4-L7-Direct standby (r3-verification-manager.md); L4 corpus seed on Direct→L5 path (r3-structure.md) not a live “corpus exists” input for PR-D yet.
  • ForAllTargets: existing 🟡 scaffold in verification.dag; slice 2 remains Director-approved wiring of existing predicates when deps are all live+cited — no new TestPredicate variants except INVARIANTS §P1 if inexpressible (r2-pr-d-cross-target-equivalence-harness-primitives.md §slice 2).

PR-E full fold

  • PR-A.2 landed (feat(evaluator): PR-A.2 EvalFrame / EvalStateStack carriers #1255) does not collapse the PR-E residual: PR-A.3 parser gap (r2-pr-a3-implementation-blocker-audit.md) only gates strategy/memo spelling; body evaluator, HO/lens-instance fold driver, and executable multi-strategy prerequisites for full Lens<C> / DimensionReport / PB-runtime-aligned deeper fold remain as in r2-pr-e-lens-application-over-reflected-program-dag.md.

Changed paths

  • docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md

Scope is right: docs-only, one closure residual file, no PR-D/PR-E implementation creep. One required update before ready: the PR-E recheck paragraph is stale after #1286. It currently says PR-A.3 eager/memo substrate implementation remains blocked on the parser / sum-spelling gap. #1286 has merged on main, so please revise that to: parser prerequisite cleared; PR-A.3 carrier implementation is now owned by Substrate/eager-ram; PR-E full fold is still blocked on body evaluator + HO/lens-instance fold-driver + multi-strategy runtime prerequisites. Keep the distinction that #1286 only clears carrier authoring, not PR-E full fold semantics.

Non-blocking — Strengths

  • docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md Docs-only recheck stays within the existing PR-D/PR-E deferral boundaries and does not expand substrate or implementation scope.

✅ No blocking concerns found.

  • Comparison: origin/main @ 31cf7b50 ... review/pr-1301-fbe6c687 @ fbe6c687
  • Thinking: 38s wall

Findings: None. The diff only extends docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md with two dated “Dispatch recheck (#1131)” notes. They keep PR-D/PR-E residuals explicit, point at concrete ledger/briefs/PRs, restate TestPredicate::ForAllTargets as a 🟡 scaffold and tie slice 2 to existing constructors — consistent with P5 / scaffold language in INVARIANTS.md and the named-trigger idea in docs/modeling-discipline.md. Nothing here touches Rust (CODING.md) or tests (TESTING.md).

Verdict: APPROVE — Narrow documentation update; no rubric violations observed in the diff.

Docs-only PR adding two dated dispatch-recheck paragraphs to a brief. No code, no substrate changes.

Verdict: APPROVE — diff is purely documentation (4 added lines to one brief), recording dependency rechecks for PR-D slice 2 and PR-E with clear citations. Nothing in the diff touches INVARIANTS, modeling discipline, coding, or testing concerns.

  • Thinking: 61s wall

Findings: None. The diff only extends docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md with two dated dispatch-recheck paragraphs. They stay inside the file’s stated scope (PR-D / PR-E deferrals, citations, no new implementation). The ForAllTargets 🟡 scaffold wording matches the existing annotation in src/v3/std/verification.dag (around the ForAllTargets variant). Nothing here touches substrate implementation, Rust style (CODING.md), or tests (TESTING.md). No concrete mismatch with fail-closed, single-authority, or scaffold discipline from the rubric: the new text names gates, defers work, and points at P1 only as the path for genuinely new sum variants—documentation, not a new unclassified enum.

Verdict: APPROVE — Narrowly scoped documentation that records dependency state and keeps PR-E vs PR-A.3 boundaries explicit; no rubric violations observed in the diff.

Re: scheduled review (composer-2 @ 3baf12a2) — verified on current head 9476a9a0a.

Checked docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md against src/v3/std/verification.dag: TestPredicate::ForAllTargets is annotated 🟡 Scaffold — ForAllTargets at the variant (lines 152–160), matching the brief’s scaffold language. The PR-D / PR-E paragraphs remain docs-only deferrals with ledger/brief/PR citations; no Rust or test surface.

Verdict: Agree — no further code changes for that review (APPROVE stands).

Post-review delta already shipped: 9476a9a0a tightens the post–#1286 PR-E sentence so eager-RAM is not attributed to r2-evaluator-cadence-verification-matrix.md (that file never names that lane); substrate ownership now points at r2-evaluator-manager.md Cross-program dependencies → Consumes → Substrate Manager plus Director dispatch wording on #1131.

The diff only updates docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md: two Dispatch recheck paragraphs (PR-D slice 2 deps vs #1131; PR-E full fold vs PR-A.3 / #1286). No Rust, substrate, or tests.

Findings: None. Nothing here violates INVARIANTS.md (the prose is explicitly about not clearing gates yet, scaffolds are labeled 🟡 with constraints, and authority is delegated to cited briefs/ledger/matrix rather than inventing parallel facts), docs/modeling-discipline.md (no new enums or boundaries), CODING.md (Rust-only scope), or TESTING.md (no test changes).

Verdict: APPROVE — Narrow documentation-only dispatch note; aligns with deferral/scaffold framing and cites external authority; no rubric issues in the diff.

Re: scheduled review (composer-2 @ 9476a9a0) — verified on current head dba5caa4f (includes that commit).

Re-read docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md: the two Dispatch recheck (#1131) paragraphs (PR-D slice 2 dependency gates + PR-E vs PR-A.3 post–#1286) remain docs-only deferrals with citations to ledger/briefs/PRs/matrix/manager; they explicitly keep gates uncleared, label ForAllTargets as 🟡 scaffold with P1-only widening for new sum variants, and delegate authority to the cited briefs. No Rust, substrate carriers, or test files are touched on this branch for that surface.

Verdict: Agree with APPROVE; no additional commit required for this review item.

Re: scheduled review (claude-opus-4-7 @ dba5caa4) — verified.

Current branch head is dba5caa4 (same SHA as the review). The PR still only extends docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md with the two dated Dispatch recheck (#1131) paragraphs; git diff origin/main for this PR surface is that file only. scripts/check-manager-brief-authority.sh passes on this tree (cited paths, markdown anchors, § citations, and cited PR reachability).

Verdict: Agree with APPROVE; no commit needed for this item.

BLOCKING (1)

Root Cause

  • docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md The dispatch note promotes a future predicate and variant-admission rule to live state before the substrate/invariant authority exists → either land/cite those authorities or rewrite the note as blocked future work.

⚠️ One added dependency note asserts live authorities that are not present in the referenced repo files.

**Closure residual (explicit deferral):** **`ForAllTargets` / emit-scoped receipts** and **L5 corpus execution at R2** stay out of scope until **R2-T-Ground-LanguageSpec**, **all Shape A targets grounded**, and the **T-Verification-L4-L7-Direct corpus** dependencies in that brief’s Dependencies table are **all live and cited together**. Until then, the matrix’s PR-D row remains the authoritative “next allowed shape” boundary ([`r2-evaluator-cadence-verification-matrix.md`](r2-evaluator-cadence-verification-matrix.md) — PR-D row).

**Dispatch recheck (#1131, 2026-04-30) — PR-D slice 2:** The three Dependencies-table gates are **still not collectively cleared** for emit-scoped `ForAllTargets` wiring: **(1) LanguageSpec** — R2-T-Ground-LanguageSpec remains **in flight** structurally (see [`docs/r2-closure-ledger.md`](../r2-closure-ledger.md) row **T-Ground-LanguageSpec** + Grounding Manager brief). **(2) Shape A** — R3 Lane 1 prerequisites still show **Python / Go emit paths pending** vs Rust production ([`r3-v-l4-l7-direct-worker.md`](r3-v-l4-l7-direct-worker.md) Prerequisites). **(3) L4/L7 “corpus exists”** — T-Verification-L4-L7-Direct is **standby** on Evaluator + substrate gates ([`r3-verification-manager.md`](r3-verification-manager.md) Lane 1 row); the **L4 corpus seed** on the Direct → L5 critical path in [`r3-structure.md`](../r3-structure.md) is therefore **not yet a live “corpus exists” input** for PR-D slice 2. `TestPredicate::ForAllTargets` is already a 🟡 **scaffold** variant in [`src/v3/std/verification.dag`](../../src/v3/std/verification.dag); **slice 2** stays **Director-approved wiring of existing constructors only** once all deps are live and cited together — **no** new `TestPredicate` sum variants except through [`INVARIANTS.md`](../../INVARIANTS.md) §P1 if a fact is inexpressible in the current sum ([`r2-pr-d-cross-target-equivalence-harness-primitives.md`](r2-pr-d-cross-target-equivalence-harness-primitives.md) §Next implementation slices, slice 2).

BLOCKING: The PR-D note cites TestPredicate::ForAllTargets and INVARIANTS.md §P1 as live authorities, but neither exists in the checked-in model/invariants, violating Documentation Describes Live State.

Findings: None. The diff only adds two dispatch-recheck paragraphs to docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md (e.g. 19:19:docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md and 27:27:docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md). That matches the file’s stated docs-only, bounded scope and records named gates, cited briefs/ledger rows, and scaffold treatment for ForAllTargets — consistent with tracked-deferral / single-authority framing in docs/modeling-discipline.md (scaffold + triggers) without changing substrate or compiler code. CODING.md / TESTING.md do not apply here (no Rust or tests).

Verdict: APPROVE — Narrow documentation update; no rubric violations visible in the diff.

Re: inline review @ r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md:19 (“Documentation Describes Live State”) — finding does not match checked-in sources.

ForAllTargets on TestPredicate is live substrate. src/v3/std/verification.dag declares the TestPredicate sum with a ForAllTargets { command, args, expect_exit_code } variant and the in-file 🟡 scaffold header (see around lines 152–164 on main). The brief uses the conventional Rust surface name TestPredicate::ForAllTargets for that same variant; generated bootstrap tables also list the ForAllTargets field label on the TestPredicate disjunct.

INVARIANTS.md §P1 is live. The file has heading ## P1: Modeling Faithfulness and the substrate-fact-introduction procedure immediately under it (same section the fleet cites as “§P1” elsewhere, e.g. r2-evaluator-manager.md).

So the PR-D sentence is pointing at real authorities, not phantom ones. No doc/code change required for accuracy; resolve the thread on that basis.

Re: scheduled review (composer-2 @ 2291584c) — verified on current head (same SHA).

Confirmed docs/briefs/r2-evaluator-closure-residuals.md still only adds the two Dispatch recheck (#1131) paragraphs at the cited lines (PR-D slice 2 dependency recheck; PR-E vs PR-A.3 post–#1286). Content remains docs-only: named gates, ledger/brief/matrix/manager citations, explicit scaffold framing for ForAllTargets, and P1-linked widening discipline — no Rust or test surface in the diff.

Verdict: Agree with APPROVE; no further commit for this item.
