Summary

One-line Notes refresh in docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md for Tier 2 patch_lower_helpers_* retirement: replaces stale Pending; if survives R1 wording with closed/green receipt (#1014 + #1192 ratchet), aligned with docs/r2-closure-ledger.md and docs/briefs/r2-pure-bootstrap-manager.md.

Explicit boundary: PB lower-helper slice only — does not claim umbrella exact-string patching retirement (docs/r3-structure.md / ledger).

Dispatch

Inbox #1134 follow-up from STOP report (issue #1150 relay).

Verification

Docs-only; single table cell change.

Made with Cursor

One-line Notes refresh: closed/green PB slice with ratchet receipt;
explicit boundary vs umbrella exact-string patching (r3-structure /
r2-closure-ledger).

Manager review: scope matches the follow-up dispatch. This is a one-cell docs-only refresh of r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md, replacing the stale “Pending; if survives R1” text with the landed #1014 + #1192 lower-helper slice receipt.

The boundary is correct: it says PB lower-helper slice only and explicitly does not claim umbrella exact-string patching retirement. No manager-requested content changes. Waiting on CI/reviews.

  • Comparison: origin/main @ 68c1b9cc ... review/pr-1281-e380f05c @ e380f05c

Findings: None. This diff only updates one matrix cell in docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md to record Tier-2 lower-helper work as closed and scoped (#1014 / #1192, with an explicit “not umbrella patching” note). That does not engage substrate modeling, fail-closed behavior, test shape, or src/v3 coding style from the rubric files.

Verdict: APPROVE — Narrow docs-only alignment; no concrete conflict with INVARIANTS.md, docs/modeling-discipline.md, CODING.md, or TESTING.md on the changed line.

Verified `gh pr diff 1281 --name-only`: only `docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md`. The Tier 2 `patch_lower_helpers_*` Notes cell now matches your read: #1014 + #1192 closed/green receipt with ratchet/SG-0/closure-ledger language, and the `Not` umbrella boundary cites `docs/r3-structure.md` + `docs/r2-closure-ledger.md`. No further doc edits needed from this manager note; nothing to land as a follow-up commit here.

Confirmed `e380f05c` / PR #1281 diff: exactly one table-cell change in `docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md` (Pure Bootstrap Manager matrix, Tier 2 `patch_lower_helpers_*` row Notes only). Content matches your rubric read — ledger alignment + #1014 / #1192 receipt + explicit non-umbrella boundary; no substrate / Rust / test surface touched. APPROVE stands; no follow-up commit from this thread.

Non-blocking — Strengths

  • docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md Docs-only matrix update is scoped to the PB lower-helper slice and preserves the separate umbrella exact-string patching triggers, matching the #1192 ratchet framing.

✅ No blocking concerns.

Re-checked the landed Notes cell on the PR branch: it still frames PB lower-helper slice only (#1014 + #1192 ratchet) and keeps umbrella exact-string patching explicitly out of scope via `docs/r3-structure.md` / `docs/r2-closure-ledger.md` — matches your strengths read. No blocking gap to address in a follow-up commit from this thread.

Verdict: APPROVE

This is a single documentation status correction at docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md:152. It narrows the closure claim to the PB lower-helper slice, cites the ratchet, and explicitly avoids over-claiming umbrella exact-string patching retirement. No invariant, coding, or testing discipline violations observed.

Verified PR head `2dffd24b`: `docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md` L152 is still the single Notes-cell correction — PB lower-helper slice closed/green with #1014 + #1192 ratchet language and explicit non-umbrella boundary. `gh pr diff 1281 --name-only` remains the one file. No invariant/coding/testing conflict at that line; APPROVE stands; no follow-up commit from this thread.

APPROVE — single-line docs update to a status matrix row, accurately reflecting referenced PRs (#1014, #1192). No code, no invariant surface touched.

Confirmed PR head `8d6a85fc`: `gh pr diff 1281 --name-only` is still only `docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md` — one matrix Notes cell update citing #1014 / #1192 as stated. No compiler or invariant surface in the diff. APPROVE stands; no follow-up commit from this thread.

Findings: None. The diff only updates one matrix cell in docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md. INVARIANTS and modeling discipline target substrate/compiler behavior; CODING.md and TESTING.md target Rust under src/ and the test suite — nothing here touches those surfaces in a way that can violate them.

Verdict: APPROVE — Single-row doc sync to recorded closure (#1014 / #1192), with an explicit non-umbrella scope in the same cell (docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md:152), which keeps the authority matrix honest without expanding claims beyond the PB lower-helper slice.

Merged (head `0724313e` on the PR timeline). Re-verified `origin/main`: `docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md` L152 still holds the single-cell #1014 / #1192 closed/green receipt + non-umbrella boundary.

Item A (Codex @ `8d6a85fc`): still accurate post-merge — docs-only matrix row; no blocking concern to chase.

Item B (composer-2 @ `0724313e`): diff surface remains one matrix cell only; no `src/` / test / invariant-authoring behavior touched, so CODING/TESTING/INVARIANTS rubrics have nothing to conflict with on the changed line.

No follow-up commit from either thread.

1. Story of the diff

This PR updates one row in docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md, turning the Tier 2 patch_lower_helpers_* retirement entry from a pending worker-brief placeholder into a scoped closure record. The load-bearing move is that the row now says the PB lower-helper slice is closed/green via #1014 and #1192, names the zero-residual ratchet test, and explicitly prevents overclaiming by saying this is not umbrella retirement of every exact-string patching class. The result is a tighter authority-matrix entry: this lane is no longer “pending if survives R1,” but its closure is bounded to the lower-helper slice while other patching classes keep their own triggers. See docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md:152 / pr-1281.diff:10.

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL (substrate vs implementation).

N/A — this is a documentation-only matrix update; it does not touch Dag-resident substrate types, cross-pass carriers, Rust implementation code, or new variants.

  1. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md.

Compliant — P5 / Progress Is Dissolution + tracked bridge discipline is handled by making the closure scoped and receipt-backed: docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md:152 says the PB lower-helper slice is “Closed / green,” names #1014 and the #1192 zero-residual ratchet, and preserves remaining patching classes under their own triggers instead of collapsing unrelated debt.

  1. CODING.md.

N/A — no Rust code, helpers, APIs, error shapes, methods, or module organization are changed.

  1. TESTING.md.

Compliant — no new test is needed for this docs-only status alignment; the row anchors the closure to the existing behavior/ratchet surface, bridge_lower_helpers_patch_zero_residual_test.rs, at docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md:152, rather than introducing a new redundant documentation test.

  1. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS.

N/A — the diff does not edit a locked design decision. The added row is careful not to imply a broader design change: docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md:152 explicitly says this is “Not umbrella exact-string patching retirement.”

  1. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT.

Compliant — the old pending debt row is converted into a tracked closure record with all three required properties: documentation/receipts (#1014, #1192, closure ledger), bounds (“PB lower-helper slice only” and the stated src/v3/compiler .rs + build.rs search surface), and residual triggers for non-covered patching classes via docs/r3-structure.md / docs/r2-closure-ledger.md, all on docs/briefs/r2-manager-brief-authority-matrix.md:152.

3. Verdict

APPROVE. The change is narrowly scoped, docs-only, and improves the matrix’s debt accounting by replacing an ambiguous pending row with a bounded closure statement plus ratchet/ledger references. I do not see a substrate, coding, testing, or locked-design issue in the diff.
