| - `std.realization` — `Placement.LocalChildProcess` (fifth arm). Serial `SourceRootEvalDriver` remains `LocalInProcess`. A prepare worker is a local OS process with its own address space, not a filesystem cache, not a remote host, not an accelerator. Do not nickname Placement as `WorkerKind`. Do not put the arm in `gunbc.compute`. Worker `RealizedStep` = `ExecuteEffect` + `LocalChildProcess` + `Recompute`. Parent merge stays `LocalInProcess` plus `ReadEffect` over worker artifacts (condition 3). Slice 1 does not take a Share cache obligation across siblings. | ||
| - `std.realization_width` — envelope is `process_memory_aware_spawn_width` (cores ∩ memory ∩ pids). This is the bound fold, not a second knob. Do not mint `NATIVE_SHARD_COUNT` / `--width`. `NATIVE_SHARD_INDEX` is an observation label only. |

Define refusal semantics for unavailable width inputs
When memory or PID observations are unavailable—or the safe memory budget cannot fit one worker—the mandated process_memory_aware_spawn_width is not the claimed cores ∩ memory ∩ pids envelope: dag/std/realization_width.dag returns conservative_fallback_width directly for zero memory/PID inputs and clamps subunit memory capacity to one. An implementation following this plan could therefore return width 4 on a one-core host or admit W=1 when no worker fits, bypassing the later “above envelope refuses” requirement. Specify a feasibility refusal for these states, or name a stricter envelope operation before making this helper binding.

…behind a fail-closed input contract Landing side chat ruling (2026-09-15) on #11385: the helper's conservative-fallback and minimum-one arms can answer outside the observed envelope, so the plan states the precondition and the named refusal rather than preserving a known-false binding. Text-only repair; no implementation is owed in this plan-only PR.
