Due to an incident GitHub had with PRs, it somehow managed to merge my PR #32798 without today's commits.
If you look at the merge commit message and its contents (d21ae19), you can see that GitHub merged it at 0a731a4 instead of eac04d4.
It also merged the PR despite the doc lint failing for eac04d4. This PR includes an amended last commit which fixes that failure.
The backport PR #33149 includes all commits.
