The underlying
add_chwsfunction called by the command line utility can take as output "the path or the directory of the output font". However, the CLI arguments currently only allow for output directories.Allowing paths as well (using the same logic as
east_asian_widthto determine if the output argument is a file or directory) would mean thatchws_toolcan be used in situations where a known output file is desired (in particular a build system likegftools.builder2!) as well as in-place fixing of font files.
