Gotator is not a daemon (or a service if you prefer that term). It's just a console app. I run it in screen and on information radiators I set that to happen on reboot with a cronjob like so...
@reboot screen -d -m ./gotator
Gotator reads content from csv files. Google Sheets can be fetched a a CSV file. You can set up a cronjob to pull down a program file from a Google spreadsheet and never have to log into the radiator to change the program. (credit Chris Heisel for this hack)
If you run your information on a linux machine, xtrlock offers a transparent screensaver. You might find that useful if you are concerned on who can use your radiator as a general purpose computer.
