Remove extraneous grammar period which breaks the compare URL #1252

Why:

Broken URL in the Comparing commits section due to a (grammatically correct) but UX-harmful period at the end.

What's being changed:

The period is being removed such that a user can copy + paste the example without encountering a "commit not found" UI on github. This improves the doc per the second list item here:

Decisions aren’t about what’s right or wrong according to the rules of grammar or the style guide, but about what’s best for our users. We're flexible and open to change while maintaining consistency.
